Reading a story to someone is not propagating a world view. It's showing the kids that there are different people in the world. I'd rather my kids get read to by a variety of people, so they are exposed to all types of people, rather than what is in my own little bubble.

Now, whilst I've naturally been a Labour/Left-wing voter, I also recognise there are some absolute mad cancel-culture agendas being pushed by liberals. We've gone from respecting people's choices and their way of life, and live and let live. To a point where we are threatening to cancel people if they don't address us with our preferred pronouns, or that we must throw away all semblance of religion/belief (and I'm not even a religious person), and teach people they can be anything they want to be, and if they don't actively promote it, they are all of a sudden the problem.

I'm a black person and I think anti-racism training in work places is ridiculous! I think there are better ways of promoting change than telling people (whether it's true of not) "heh, you're naturally racists/homophobic/transphobic, so first we must train it out of you" and you must promote X/Y/Z agenda otherwise you're promoting hatred.

Ideally those training sessions are to empower and promote the idea of challenging racist ideas. I don't see how it's a bad thing. Christ, i work in an organisation under a microscope for a culture of racism, so i know if things are left then nothing changes.

That's absolutely not what he said. Can we have integrity and nuanced discussion.

Live and let live. Educate children that it's NOT OK to abuse/harrass anyone no matter their faith, sexuality or gender.

But there's no need to be teaching kids, who have wild impressionable minds that they can be whatever they want to be. Just like how it's not up to the government to be teaching kids what religion they should follow, unless the parent themselves have put them in a specific school that practices/promotes that faith.

There are certain specific things that should be left for parents to teach. And there are certain general things (love/compassion/kindness/maths/english/SCIENCE) that should be left for schools to teach.

I am wondering if this has to do with rising interest rates and the fed stopping printing money in the US. FB, Amazon, Google, MSFT - all on hiring freeze or layoffs.

With the low interest rates and free money, investors had access to free capital in the last two years. I think FSG were on accumulation mode then - Pittsburgh pirates, team in Brazil. I am wondering with interest rates rising, Henry and co are suddenly over leveraged. They are rich but not that rich.

But the issue for us is that almost all investors will be in a similar situation. The best time to sell us was in the middle of the covid pandemic.

But mandates like that go hand in hand with hate crime laws. It clears up the language to be used. If anything, it makes it easier to be respectful. It's easier for police to police and easier for citizens to know.

Personally, I don't think showing someone respect via mandate is a slippery slope. A slippery slope to where? A more tolerant society? Usually, people complain about mandates due to "muh freedom". Freedom to be what, a dick? You can still be a dick, difference is now you can have appropriate comeuppance
