We may as well keep Aqua as the money we'd get for him would be soul destrying considering what we paid. I'd guess 12 mil at most, even that would make me question the sanity of whoever was buying him.
Babel 6 or 7 mil (not worth that) unless some loony comes in or he scores a couple off his shins in the WC. NGog 2 or 3 mil.

Fuck that. Take the £12m quick and pack the Shithouse back off to his Mama. If Juve are stupid enough to take him, great.

liverpool fc = the safe haven of the injury prone

So, you'd prefer a £10M loss or so over keeping Aquilani?

I'd take £10-12m in a New York minute.

He's laughably injury-prone, doesn't score enough goals, is a shithouse, and isn't actually that good.

Ha ha Brenden you really are 'precious' - Take an £8 million hit
on a player that was in his first season and arrived
injured? To a team that was struggling from the off. And what do you
mean he's not that good? I think he's a fine player and given
the right enviroment could flourish.

Quick question - if you HAD to choose between Aqua and
Carrick who would you pick?

Neither, thanks.

I'm not trying to give you a trick question. It's a valid point. I know your views on Carrick and I agree with them. He was 18 million from Spurs. Aqua was 20 million from Roma - They play in roughly the same position.

On the evidence of what I have seen from Aqua I think he could be a much finer player than Carrick. I can't be arsed to bring up the stats but he's scored and has maybe 3 assists. Hit the bar twice. In how many games/starts? Thats not bad given the circumstances in which he arrived. The last 3-4 games I thought he genuinely looked the part.

Give him a full pre season and no injuries (plus some sort of club stability) and I imagine he could be a vital member of the squad. Selling him for an 8 million loss is crazy.

But I suppose it is you so maybe you're just pulling our leg a bit. I mean seriously......... An 8 Million loss? ;D You do crack me up!

Vlads Quiffer it wasn't just them (though we should of got money for Burger and Brad and more for james). But we struggled to off load shit like Diouf, Diou, Brono and Dbrill and they were that bad they either wanted to run they contract down or no one wanted them.

An 8mil loss on a player who at the end of the season started to shine? A player who will settle and be a vital player in our team if he is played.
He scored 2 goals i think, got a few assists, hit the bar twice in 2 games i think. He is good, he just needs to stay injury free. He had 1 season to get use to the game and now i think next season he will shine and taking an 8mil loss on him is the stupidest thing i have ever heard

We should have got at least £7m in total for Friedel & James. I still can't believe that Leeds gave us £11m for Fowler and even more ridiculously nearly £5m for Matteo!

Didn't Matteo really fall out with the club and Houllier?

Meh, he was pretty shit anyway.

Selling Fowler, although heartwrenching, proved an extremely sensible decision.

We turned down £9m for Babel in January.

I cannot see how Aquilani's cameos have not merrited him a second season.

Me either, they have to have.

Give him a summer of getting 100% and play him with Gerrard and Mascherano sitting deep, but the sad thing is we all know Rafa would never play an attacking formation like that week in week out. His contributions with assists and goals just sum up how I have hated watching Lucas playing more than most in our first eleven.

I agree too.
We really can't judge a player on just one season, let alone a player who new to the premier league and has been injured for most of it. Rafa took a big gamble signing a player with a serious injury, and it blew right up in his face, particularly when we so desperately needed a striker, but that is Rafa'a fault, not Aqualani's.
What is done is done.
Apart from that I have seen flashes to suggest he is a quality player.

Yep. And if Rafa is the one prepared to sell him on already and at a loss, then questions should really be asked (they should have been asked already anyway).

Absolutely.

Meanwhile, Ferguson appears likely to let Berbatov go for considerably less than the 30m paid and not a media soul questions his judgement or use of the player. Rather it's Berbatov's fault for being lazy/not mentally strong enough.

Well to be fair, Fergie has played him, he's contributed to two excellent seasons but ultimately left fans and press alike a bit meh about him via his own personal performances and his workrate. He's hardly set the World alight has he? And unlike Aquilani, he has played quite alot.

i like him..

i think he would flourish under a supportive manager that seeks his creativity..

soo.. with that in mind.. it would certainly be in his best interest to move elsewhere.
