According to the Guardian and The Times...

I don't like this, Hughes is shit and if they go and get Mourinho (Sheikh's Monsur's first choice according to The Times) then nobody is winning the league for the next few years. Winning league titles is what Mourinho does no matter what you think about his spending sprees etc.

End of the season he will be gone ... not before barring an aberration of cataclysmic proportions (losing 3 on the bounce would be sufficient methinks). If they achieve Top 4 then Mourinho is the sort of person who may think it an opportunity to pad his CV - doubt he would be interested if they didn't.

I personally think Mourinho wants to go to a historic club like a Real Madrid, Liverpool or Manchester United. But you can never tell where money is involved.

or Chelsea..

There is no point worrying about City - they will make it into the top 4 sooner rather than later. That much has always been a given.

We have to sort our own mess out.

The timing couldn't be worse for us.

Unless we want Mark Hughes as our new manager.

I think Hughes is a decent(ish) manager, he's proved that already.

I'm not sure if he's being found out at City or what power he has over transfers, team selections, etc, but he's certainly not getting the best out of their squad.

From the BBC:

1657: Mark Hughes shakes hands with former Manchester United team-mate Steve Bruce - will that be his last act as City boss? He isn't smiling, which might be something do to with an apparent 1930 GMT announcement at Eastlands. Will try to get more on that asap.

1657: Mark Hughes claps every corner of the City of Manchester Stadium, waves to the City fans and then departs down the tunnel. Forgive me, but that looked like a farewell.

City are going to annouce Rafa as their new boss, and pay us 20 million in compensation.

Mourinho back at either of the Manchester clubs would not fill me with glee.

Mancini in the stadium, statement at seven o'clock
Was about to say it was Mancini according to times anyway. Fucking result that they didn't get Mourinho. Means he maybe available in the summer.

Well, I suppose it's quite amusing seeing that Manc bell-end Hughes get the boot.

And another club owned by billionaires makes everyobe hate them a bit more

Who was it that said that Mourinho made a statement about a club with history that he'll be managing in England soon? If Inter get knocked out by the Chavs in the next round, then I assume he'll be off ... I don't know if he's that different from Rafa but who knows.

There's a lot of talk on here about Mourinho's team's playing style but I remember when Duff and Robben were raiding down the wings and they seemed to overwhelm teams with their all-out attacking intent. For a while they seemed invincible. Yes, his latter-day Chelsea weren't like that but at least it shows what he's capable of in our league.

Right now I'd definitely take a sprinkling of the charisma and star-dust he brings (at least at the beginning) to the turgid world of pothibilities and hard work and controlled caution poor old Rafa obsesses with.

A 6 month deal?

Jesus, what would the point of that?

Clueless
Maybe they are thinking along the lines of Chelsea and Hiddink. It worked and they kept their options open.

Another fabulous prediction of mine has come true. Unfortunately I incorrectly said it would be within 10 games. Oh well.

Inter want the CL, Liverpool want the League - has there ever been a better case for a manager swap?

A manager swap? Has that ever happened?

We should give Moratti a bell
I mean we sack Rafa, they sack Mourinho... we take eachothers managers!Or just ring Moratti and suggest a double secondment. Sounds crazy but it could work!

Although Mark Hughes is a Manc i believe he would be an excellent manager for us.

The Man City situation is daft and is very difficult for any manager. Trying to unite a bunch of self absorbed wankers with your owner trying to sign 100 players each transfer window wouldnt be easy.

Hughes had Blackburn playing some great football at times and he also made them VERY difficult to play against. They also play with a nasty edge which i believe we have lacked for years. Chelsea and Utd have this edge and Arsenal during their prime had it in abundance.

Hughes also has a very good ability to man manage. The majority of players get on with him very well and he isnt afraid to give his players a bollocking and tell them when they dont perform. Bellamy is a great example of a very difficult person to manage but Hughes manages to always get the best out of him. He had very little money at Blackburn and still managed to keep the number of 'flops' down to a minimum. Even the players Rafa has signed himself seem to hate him.

Going back to playing 442 - positive Football where players have the freedom to express themselves and arnt tied down by a million tactics would be a breath of fresh air.

Id be delighted to have him as Liverpool manager. I know a lot of people hate him because of his manc roots but he is very respectful and is far more stable than that wanker Keane.

Guus Hiddink is still available. 😉
Not for Citeh. He has already turned them down ... seems Mancini already knows he wasn't first choice (or second or third probably) but he is incumbent now so probably doesn't give a fuck.

If we hired Hughes as manager maybe we'd sign Bellamy again. Then I'd be happy. And cook a few steaks to celebrate.

Rafas controlling style would be great in Italy, fcuk it I dont care were he goes as long as he does.

I feel a bit dirty slagging Rafa off actually, it feels like slagging off a mate whos been nothing but nice to you, but you cant help it cos hes just got really annoying and weird.
