Chinese "Devil Virus" - anyone worried?

I don't have as much time as you @Woland as I'm still working the job but overall, I'm really seeing the last month at home very positively.
I've got to really enjoy my family and see my children interact and grow fonder of each other - as there's no one else to play with.
We're playing together more, I"m taking breaks from work to go to the front yard and kick a ball, we're teaching them how to make various foods, and we're introducing them to the movies that were staples of our childhood (Cool Running, Home Alone, Back to the FUture etc).
Yah, it's challenging and not seeing my parents, especially dad when his mom passed, has been something so odd ... but I always 'preach' family to myself and the family ... so this has been a gift in that sense.

Happy Easter to those celebrating.

I’m actually busier than normal and working more hours than I probably would.

I consider myself lucky - so many friends and colleagues are out of a job - 8 months ago I made the move out of hospitality into online liquor retailing - and it was by chance that I got the job I have.

2 months ago we were facing questions about what strategies we could put in place to get back to budget.

We’re currently tracking at 150% over budget.

It’s not something that I’m proud of - my area is to promote a drop ship model with booze going directly from producer to customer.

I’m happy I’m doing things to keep businesses going.

I’m also happy to be getting booze to people.

But.... then I remember my missus is a Paramedic and as always, she’s the one doing the heavy lifting.

That's exactly why people like Icke are so dangerous, they will sprinkle their madness with some reasonable points to win people over.

I agree, only I am not that gullible...
I will try and listen to the points, views; whatever you wish to call them; and make my own judgement. Some of the stuff you just know is nonsense, like the phone masks, but sometimes the judgement has to be differed until what they are saying is either backed up or disproved...
I try not to just write someone offer until I hear what they are saying.

Anyone else enjoying the lockdown?

I'm loving it. I know when I get the mange and die I'll change my tune but right now everything is ace. All the pressure is off, I'm doing loads more interesting shit than I was before.

Cons

1) we're living in the worst country on earth and more people are ill and dying per capita than anywhere else on earth, Boris is the kid that told everyone to play on the railway that ended up getting hit by a train, for some reason the press still think he's a saint. 5000 people died here last week because of him and it makes me want to smoke crack

Positives

1) I don't have to do anything I don't want to
2) I don't have to put up with anyone's bullshit
3) I'm working on a few really interesting things that I wouldn't be otherwise
4) I've found a love for cooking again
5) I've got back into making music
6) the weather is ace and when I walk my dogs down the beach there's hardly anyone about
7) I've started running again
8) my bird is being dead positive and helpful and isn't giving me the eyes when I open a bottle of vodka at 11 in the morning
9) my kids are here and they're a laugh. Watching old series I've forgotten and they've never seen getting stoned etc is boss
10) I could go on but I'll look back fondly on this virus

Fancy swapping lives mate 🙂

Edit:- I really have to start to proof read before I post :sorry:

Corbyn refused it.

how did he refuse it? It isn’t a grant. It is just an extension of the limits for expenses that MPs CAN spend on extra equipment for their staff. The way to ‘refuse’ it would simply be not to spend the money and then not try to claim it back.

Ok then he turned down the offer and MP accepted it.

It wasn’t an offer to be accepted or refused though. It was an increase in the allowance that CAN be claimed if MPs’ staff have extra costs. The extra expense allowance is available for Corbyn and his staff whether he uses it or not. They won’t apply an increased expense allowance to every MP other than Corbyn!

No. none of these facts! They are not welcome!

When we were about to start gulf war 2, I sent an email to my local mp, Clair Curtis Thomas, original Blair skool of 97, and asked how she could in good conscience be a member of the Fabian society and support the war, and how I wouldn't vote labour if she voted for it

Fast forward a year, she gets pulled up for having office expenses of 170k a year

Back to my query. About a week later, I got a parcel I had to sign for. It was a series of massive intelligence documents she'd printed out and sent special delivery. The paper and printing must have taken someone hours, the postage was about twelve quid.

I'D EMAILED HER. SHE COULD HAVE JUST REPLIED. I LIVE ABOUT A HUNDRED YARDS FROM HER. SHE COULD HAVE JUST DROPPED IT ALL OFF. OR PHONED. THESE FUCKING PEOPLE FFS

Soz

Lockdown extended by another three weeks in Ireland. Said they saw others were relaxing restrictions, but said may as well let them be the guinea pigs for it.

Highest death rate in the world. More deaths today in the UK than either Italy or Spain ever had and rising. Brendan will blame frogfish

..........1) we're living in the worst country on earth and more people are ill and dying per capita than anywhere else on earth .....
Actually, just for the sake of accuracy, per capita we're currently 6th with 132 deaths per million. Behind: Belgium (260), Italy (312), Spain (342), Netherlands (147) and France (187).

Huge number of new cases though (and deaths). About ¼ of what the USA's daily tally will be today. 'Big D' doing an amazing job over there. An amazing stat is that New York alone has more cases and deaths than any country !

We're currently at 980 for the day (sure to rise) however Italy had just over 1,000 a few days and Spain more, around 1,100.

I've gotta own it like.

I've read that they're not counting the deaths in care homes... Don't know if that's true or not.

Maybe we need a graph of Germany’s results?

Graphs are for dimwits. This is about the social aspects and nuances, which everyone knows is really what is at the heart of this pandemic. That's what we should be talking about, not some silly pseudo-intellectual graph.

If we're going to win this fight, it's going to be by supporting each other, and standing as one against this virus. Not fighting and trying to attribute blame or causes. Not by pointing fingers. We have to put all that aside, the past is the past. Let's focus on the here and now, and fight this thing. Together!

Who are both at or over the peak. At the same stage we're at, neither had this number.
Well that's debatable because all had their first cases at exactly the same time (UK 31st Jan., Italy 31st Jan. Spain 31st Jan.). You also have to take into account that Spain's population is just 47 million vs 67 million UK and 60 million for Italy. So per million Spain is in a far worse state. We shouldn't be comparing those figures directly without taking relative populations into account, apples to apples.

Click on the individual countries here and then on logarithmic on the graphs to see the logarithmic curves which were steeper in the case of Italy & Spain but otherwise all three are similar with only Italy showing strong signs of leveling off :

I've read that they're not counting the deaths in care homes... Don't know if that's true or not.
That's the same for almost all countries, they have to be able to state with certainty that the death was the result of CV-19 infection. It's stupid really. In China there had to have been a CT-Scan to assign the death to Cv-19 ! Nuts. It seems many countries are setting their own criteria and not following the WHO criteria for assignment.

But what about the two metres? Two metres is supposed to be safe? As long as we stand together two metres apart, the virus won't infect us! These scientists obviously haven't considered the emotional strength we gain from being two metres apart, that protective barrier from our solidarity will keep us safe!

Yea and thanks to all of you who’ve sent me personal messages asking how I’m doing. Much appreciated.
