Chinese "Devil Virus" - anyone worried?

There's a spectrum of this shit though isn't there. I mean it's not as simple as the vaccines are or aren't safe. They're pretty fucking safe, safer than loads of other meds and on balance a very good idea. I think ket is safe, but others disagree. It's safe as fuck.

The human to human thing wasn't a conspiracy theory and no-one believed it anyway. It was CCP lies.

Herd immunity was a guess, not a conspiracy theory. Etc.

The theory I can get behind that gets zero press time is that the govts of pretty much everywhere are using this bullshit to gain extraordinary and weird powers, and to shift more wealth from the many to the few. It's pretty obvious that this is happening and it's pretty obvious why the media are pointing at other stuff.

And if it wasn't a lab leak the Chinese would have proven where it came from by now. No-one wants to talk about it because the outcome is war.

This is the most terrifying thing. Moreso than the virus itself, I think. They'll get what they want, and the dystopian futures we've seen in fiction will become a reality before long. Trying to talk to my mates and family about it and the way they shrug it off as outrageous crazy ramblings is absolute lunacy.

And the reason everyone thinks you're nuts is because the other people saying this are also saying stuff about 5G masts and it all gets muddied. There's not enough pragmatic discussion of what is likely and what isn't.

Another conspiracy theory I buy is about conspiracy theorists. Alex Jones and David Icke and even people like Rogan and Trump... They're occasionally right, but because they're so full of shit most people instantly shut them down whatever they say. So the conspiracy theories that are legitimate die in the mainstream because of their association with these egos. It leads to controlled opposition, the powers that be let these people say what they want because they know anything they say will be scorned. The security services probably leak real stuff to them so that is discredited before anyone credible finds out for themselves.

The lab leak is an example of everyone getting behind a false narrative for fear of annoying China, and for fear of looking like a Trumptard. The first thing I heard about the theory was from some world expert virologist saying that covid was surrounded by a lipid membrane, and no-one had been able to create that in a lab, those viruses only occurred in nature, there was no chance anyone in China could have created this, they were relying on French science at the Wuhan lab and the French certainly couldn't do it. So that seemed pretty on point. But as Weinberg says, if you've got a river full of chocolate next door to a chocolate factory you don't go looking round for other places the chocolate might have come from, and as things have developed it's pretty clear that the Wuhan lab was more than capable of turning a bat corona virus into a human virus, and that they'd asked for funding from the US to do just that a few years ago. The US didn't fund it but they probably did it anyway, and it now turns out that the safety protocols at the lab were total shit.

But then the next level is people saying that China did it on purpose to fuck the West. Or that the West got the Chinese to do it so that they could go full New World Order. And it's the same people saying that as the people who are saying it could have been an honest mistake that's been covered up... So debate gets closed down again.

What needs to be asked is, these people who were so quick to say a lab leak was impossible, which it absolutely was... What was in it for them? Are they still saying it? Why aren't they getting grilled about their motivations?

I fail it too.

But I've been right all along too

Immaterial now. I would have expected other non-scientists to learn something about how you were right despite not being a scientist. Alas they are not interested in learning that. Which is disappointing. So as far as I'm concerned you were right due to a lucky coincidence. Nothing to learn here. Move along to your highly deserved doom socialist scum.

Shut up you fucking Q anon mentalist

Yeah that was the issue with me with this McCullough one. There was no way of knowing whether what he said had any merit, because nobody was there to challenge him. Not necessarily expecting Rogan to in this case as he's not a doctor or a cardiologist. Would be interesting to see McCullough debate someone, which Joe proposes at the end.

Rogan did have a go at that Sanjay Gupta though and had him squirming on occasion.

I'm half-tempted to go back and listen to the doctors he had on a year or two ago and see who've been proven right. I remember he (as well as Russell Brand) were bringing info to light about the lab leak that was outright being shut down elsewhere at the time. Obviously now it's looking extremely likely that that was what happened. Will listen to the Friedman one.

I've only read summaries, but a decent amount is based on a few things that aren't true. He says you can't catch it twice and asymptomatic people can't spread it. I know a bunch of people that fall into both camps.

What he says about there being cures, he's wrong about hydroxchloroquine. Should there have been more focus on that early on, yeah, probably should have, they are on the way out now though.

His conclusions feed on from those, so if they're based on falsehoods, it's not a great start.

And when all else fails.. dead cat on a table does the trick.

Facts hurting are they? Your faith in the chief medical officer not what it used to be? Scientists work in mysterious ways, you just need to have faith child and it will all be ok. The myocarditis and the mutations happen for a reason.

If you reaffirm your faith every day, follow the rules, and accept the blessing of science, then I promise that even you can be bestowed with the divine gift of a PhD one day.

There's clearly something wrong with this poll, Dantes Schrute isn't included in it.

Jurgen Klopp urges Liverpool fans to 'ignore lies' and 'trust experts' over Covid-19 vaccine

'I won't apologise for the view I hold on the vaccination, no matter how unpopular it might make me in certain sections of society,' Klopp wrote. 'I'm the same privately as I am publicly on this.

'If I come across friends or people I care about in my life away from football and they tell me they haven't had a jab yet, I do my best to encourage them to listen to experts. It's never a case of: "listen to me" – it's always: "listen to those who know".

'Ignore those who pretend to know. Ignore lies and misinformation. Listen to people who know best. If you do that, you end up wanting the vaccine and the booster. The "stick to football" abuse so misses the point. Yes, I know about football having spent my entire life in the game.

'And my view on the vaccination isn't from my own imagination. That's the point – I listen to experts. People who are smarter than I ever could be have come to the rescue of society by creating this for the world. We are very blessed to have such incredible access to it.

'I see it as a privilege and I'll always be grateful for. We don't know what impact the new variant will have on football in the short or medium term. It will certainly impact player availability and might result in fixtures being postponed sporadically, but that is for the governing bodies to manage.'

'Clearly we hope disruption is minimal, but that's not in our hands and nor should it be,' Klopp said. 'We must trust those who know best, those with knowledge. We just want as many people to be safe. Health has to be the priority always. Health of participants, staff and supporters.'

Klopp has seen the light and is helping to spread the good news. A shining example to all born again scientists. AlhamduEulah.

What he really means is listen to the experts, who in conjunction with the media and big tech have spread lies since the beginning.

Blasphemy! How dare you call the infallible word of science a lie! It is not too late to accept the good news into your heart. Salvation awaits, just accept the booster.

Yeah, that pissed me off from Klopp. I think I posted about it in the Newcastle match thread. Not everyone who is hesitant has been taken in by wild conspiracy theory. And there's more than enough well-founded reason for people to be wary and distrustful of the establishment. Especially in Liverpool and at our club.

Heresy! These conspiracy theorists are cynical, they're cynners, using critical reasoning, independent thinking and inquisitive minds to deny the infallible word of science. You're on the path to damnation I tell you!

Isnt there a difference between being a healthy sceptic and an angry anti vaxxer?

They're actively trying to merge the two, which fits in with what Woland was saying about delegitimising valid concerns and theories by lumping them in with the nutcases. They've changed the definition of anti-vaxxer to include anyone that doesn't support vaccine mandates, vaccinated or not. We've seen that with some of the rhetoric coming out of Australia, too, with one official slamming anyone (again vaccinated or not) that didn't agree morally with mandates.
