Then explain how the AZ Oxford vaccine ends up with higher efficacy with 1.5 doses rather then 2. And note that this was of course found due to a dosing error.
If they don't experiment with different dosing amounts and intervals then the most efficient application won't be determined.
Different vaccine. Younger test subjects making the efficacy statistically harder to isolate in the data. Last sentence of paragraph one. Experiments are over and ignoring the results isn't justified by telling yourself it's another experiment.

My sister got her second one early this weekend (she's a nurse) as the centre she's been helping at put out an urgent call to its staff that they had loads that they had to use within 24 hours. In a way - lucky that they had a captive audience of NHS staff ready and able to quickly get to a second appointment but the wasted doses that are happening are poor.

I think the media are being fucking pricks, as per.
Reading the various articles it seems to be that instead of jabs that would go to waste at the end of the shift, they call all the people on the list & if there's still some going to waste after that's done then the volunteers or NHS workers there get them. Then protocol was going to be destroy them, which makes no sense, so the volunteers or NHS staff phoned their family so they weren't going to waste.

The vaccine was still effective, but just a fuck load less effective against the new strain, going off the bodily fluids of all of eight, that's right eight people, who were relatively young and whose cells could just have fought off the virus in any event.

In another ironic twist of the brexit tale, it'll be mutation which occurs in Spain. Only it'll be a British pensioner who has to return to blighty because they've already used up their 90 days, thus bringing the deadly Costa del Sol strain with them.
My friends got their jabs by queueing. Any vaccine left over / not claimed at the end of the day was dispensed to those waiting. Not sure how that worked as we didn't discuss the details but it's a good way to avoid waste.
Not a satisfactory explanation? They told them quite clearly that the manufacturer fucked up.

Not sure what’s gone here or the actual numbers involved between UK and EU. Didn’t Pfizer also recently say they can’t meet the original agreement with UK before March because they wanted to upgrade manufacturing process?
I wonder if AsrtaZeneca’s issue is that they been asked to prioritize UK above EU for the next few months?

It does sound rather like they are trying to divert attention from their sluggish vaccination progress by blaming supplies of a vaccine that they haven't even given approval to use yet.
Ultimately though, yes, supply of vaccine does become a big issue as more countries speed up.
