Chinese "Devil Virus" - anyone worried?

Perusing the contract itself... blah blah REDACTED TEXT blah blah REDACTED TEXT and REDACTED TEXT signed REDACTED TEXT. Everything seems to be in order.

Ah yes, that chestnut.

See how dysfunctional our government is? The only solution is to provide it with less money. Now look how dysfunctional it is! I wonder what would happen if we starved it of money! Can't get your post on time? This is why you shouldn't trust the government with your money.

Of course the converse argument is also ludicrous, but another way might be to run the government better.

It's the same logic that has seen millions of people conspicuously evidence how awful they are at performing chores they hate.

Thing is, you know the old chestnut is true.

Anyone with a brain does.

It doesn't follow from that that we shouldn't have a government. It's just worth bearing in mind that they're shit at everything and relying on 'next time it'll be ok' is completely delusional.

On a totally unrelated matter, when that fat cunt boris dies, hopefully not too long from now, his newborn cunt son will have an £11bn trust fund to make sure he can feed himself, so we can take solace in that.

Some governments are well run, just not yours or mine.

Could have been worse, Excel 2003 maxed out rows at 65k. Numbers would have looked even better then...

BTW i'd wager money that the files being thrown around are actually csv (comma separate values) and idiots are opening them in excel (because you can import into excel) to do some form of manipulation/calculations rather than a proper tool.

CSVs are pretty standard but get screwed up by people who don't know how to utilise them properly.

On the plus side, it doesn't look like the same screw up applied to death numbers so the overall mortality rate of this rise in cases is even further reduced.

All Scottish bars and restaurants will be closed for 16 days. They can serve non alcoholic drinks but what is the point?

Full on U.K. lockdown is imminent.

Well, China sorted it in less than a year and have been sound for ages. We've had it here for like 8 months and we're up the wall.

Not to get all conspiratorial, but you think the government will relinquish all this tracking and lockdown power once it's sorted? They'll keep hamming it up every few weeks if they think we're misbehaving and shut us all in for a couple of weeks and ground us.

12 billions for a track and trace system that uses twenty year old excel? I think that's bit worrying.

I for one feel bad for excel. It's a brilliant tool for putting your brain into the model and coming up with the right answers. Other tools are too far removed from your brain, and the answers that a computer is able to find tend to be very wrong and/or apocalyptic.

Not to disagree, but part of the problem is that we bolshy Brits are indeed "misbehaving". In China they wouldn't do so nearly as much, for a variety of reasons.

Aye, one cannot underestimate the impact of an authoritarian state with years of practice of vanishing people they deem to be wronguns' when controlling a population during a pandemic.

That and they literally closed off towns etc for weeks and months as opposed to whatever we did in the UK (closed primark and mcdonalds for 8 weeks?)

They were pro-active. We waited around, got some retard scientists to justify why waiting around was a good thing to do, then finally we reacted when it was too late, and we based our reactions off the data that has been collected and analysed by total morons.

All the countries that took early drastic action seem to have fared better.

In Ireland we're allowing a load of lawyer TD's to talk about how a level 5 lockdown would be disproportionate. But it's what actually might work.

It's clear level 3 hasn't mitigated anything in the counties that have been level 3 for a couple of weeks.

We also have the laughable situation where the police have no power to actually enforce travel restrictions, so to avoid a load of confrontation that they can't win they've set up traffic jams rather than checkpoints. The motorway near me is down to one lane on the pretence that there is a checkpoint , but nobody is actually being checked. A five minute stretch of motorway took more than 2 hours to get through because of it.

Oh yeah. But I reckon they'll start using it now as some kind of false flag (for want of a better term) to control us. Every time we're doing something they don't like, "the R number has gone up. Local lockdown for you." Disobey, get fines and jail time. Our government and the US must look at the way China controls its population and get a raging hard on.

The government will announce a new 3 tiered lockdown scale on Monday which will come in to effect on Wednesday. No doubt it’ll be a monumental fuck up.

It shouldn't be much different to what has already been going on regionally across the UK over the past 3 months , just plain English for everyone to understand, if they can manage thst.

Seemingly when the message exceeds 3 words from a Selection of: hands, space ,face,in,out & home the Tory PR machine implodes

Burnham and Rotherham are telling the government to fuck off with lockdowns unless there will be a furlough scheme.

Mate.... all our Pubs have been pretty much closed since the end of March - save for a couple of weeks they could have handful of people in in June.

The news reports (that must have been briefed cos they're all in lockstep for once) say they're getting financial support for businesses that are forced to close.

In that respect it may be better for pubs cos most of them are almost empty.

In Melbourne the Police have pulled in AU$20 million in fines for breaking curfew rules since stage 4 lockdown - not wearing a face mask in public, being out after curfew (9pm - it was 8pm until a few weeks ago), being more than 5km from home.

At our peak - we hit around 700 new cases a day - we’re still in Stage 4 restrictions with the fortnight average at are 12 new cases per day.

The population of Melbourne is 4.9 million people - we reported 11 new cases today.

The population of Ireland is 4.9 million people - there were 611 new cases today.

I went over the village with the boss the other night and it was dead. They are probably only opening to try and make up for their losses. No way they can be turning a profit.
