Chinese "Devil Virus" - anyone worried?

I see the narrative is now to push teachers back to work.

It's disgraceful trying to blame militant unions, to push it's own narrative..

Shit rag of a Paper..

Not one teacher I know is happy to go back to work under the current situation..

Teachers want to teach but also want protecting.. and they are worried they will just be the next front line canon fodder like the nhs and care homes..

There is already Teachers teaching Key Workers children that complain the current situation is not acceptable.. But are also working hard to support children with distance learning

Nurses will tell you they signed up knowing that on occasion their job might leave them in some danger, and maybe more so right now. Teachers don’t sign up for the same.

Its like comparing apples to oranges.

Daily mail yet again pushing its own agenda on behalf of the government..

FFS. Not one person I've spoken to thinks the younger kids should go back to school.

There's an argument that older kids, year 6 & up may be able to manage it with some degree of social distancing in place (although there still huge risks & issues), but not only would be it mammoth task to do that with younger kids, in order to do it the kids would end up extremely upset, & the risks to their families & the teachers is far too great.

It's clear the government are still working from that herd immunity theory that specifically states using primary schools as a tap to increase infections once there's enough capacity within the NHS. They can get to fuck if they think my kids will be going back before September, & I haven't spoken to a single parent who is sending their kids in.

As someone on twitter said "it's impossible to stop the spread of nits in primary school, who thinks teachers can stop a virus from spreading?"

Btw, if anyone has a link to that paper that mentions using the primary schools to increase the virus propagation (it specifically says like a tap to turn it on & off) then can you post it please? Read it a couple of months back & I can't find the bloody thing now.

One report said 19m of us have potentially had it already

Government probably thinks - Damn, not enough for herd immunity

I know.. let's send in the 4 to 6 year olds onto the front line. That'll get those numbers up to herd immunity levels in no time at all.

Yup that's exactly what I'm thinking..

I think we're beginning to see the government's narrative shift away from togetherness and state protection to one of finger pointing, and blaming individuals for their own plights. Whether it be idle scroungers taking advantage of the furlough scheme or refusing to go back to work, or public sector workers (including nurses) objecting to a two-year pay freeze, I think the focus in the coming weeks and months will be on shifting blame from the government to the people.

Oh absolutely.. you see that coming right off...

Keeps with the Divide and rule narrative you get from any right wing government..

Meanwhile, the poor billionaires are hemorrhaging millions and needs their poorly paid servants back to work, unfortunately many of these servants require free childcare..

I know what your talking about. I've read it..

I suspect any trace may have disappeared from existence..

Man that is getting into Anti-Vaxxer and Flat-Earth territory.

I doubt it has anything whatsoever to do with the unproven (except in a lab) Herd Immunity and everything to do with trying to get the country back to a level of normality (and it's been proven the risk to children is virtually negligible, statistically driving them to school at least a hundred times more dangerous, though of course they'd then take that infection home with them).

That said I totally agree with the timing - it's definitely far too early with new infections still at a relatively high rate even if way past it's peak.

Because it's not like archival copies of all newspapers over the last century or so are easily found of course.

Conspiracy theorists. Fuck me.

It's hasnt been proven the risk of children negligible.. Its about as concrete that theory as Herd immunity.. No fucker knows for sure..

The risk is children passing it on to other children and staff, and likewise staff passing it on to children, from there it becomes a ticking time bomb in the same manner we have seen in care homes as well as taking the virus home unbeknown to them and passing it on to other vulnerable members of society including their own family members..

It's plain as day to me the Government is quietly attempting its theory with herd immunity..

Just to add the biggest issue with school, particularly in deprived areas is parents and the pressure they are under financially, particularly with struggling families.

Some will send their kids to school regardless...

Then there is those that see the school as some form of baby sitting service, they will do exactly the same.

Then there is there issue of keeping kids apart.. easier said than done..

My best mate wife is an early learnings Teacher, ages 4-6, loves her job, currently teaching key workers children and distance learning for those not in school.. Dedicated to the cause .

The big issue she say with school is some badly brought up kids already wee, poo, snot and don't wash hands, touch each other, and staff.. etc.. Teachers already have to deal with this.. Now Covid 19 risks..

It's only right the correct measures are put in place even before thinking of reopening schools.

However you also have to think about the mental health impact to that draconian measures could have on the wellbeing of young children..

Yes it has been proven. Unless you are a conspiracy theorist nutter. Ditto Herd Immunity theorists.

Show me the evidence..

It's not concrete..
All speculation, and some arguably propaganda, that some would say to fulfill the government's agenda .

Jesus Christ. Go to Google. You could spend 24 hours on there and still not have found all the evidence because there's that much of it. Clearly every Govt. in the world is in on your conspiracy.

Of course you being a fucking nutter you wouldn't believe it anyway. so what's the point. You really should support Man City.

I'm a nutter,?! It doesn't take an idiot to work out the kids can pass on illnesses and gems irrespective of whether they have the illness or not..

If you raise children you would know exactly this.. Its incredibly niave to think otherwise..

The evidence is not clear cut . It does not take into account scenarios mentioned in my previous post..

Its funny when you do a quick search. Daily Fail, Telegraph and The Lying Rag top the list in producing the stories

If you believe what your reading, then it's you thats the idiot mate, not me.

I don't understand why Teachers are a protected species, when the poor fuckers at Tesco are exposed to hundreds of strangers every day.

Remember when Thatcher used to pick on miners and dockers and factory workers? These bunch of gobshites have got the bootlickers turning on teachers and doctors now. Basically anyone who doesn't work in a bank is filthy commie scum
Yup.. exactly..

Divide and Rule.. media just help the government push that narrative..

You dolt. I said exactly that about children above.

And there is your problem. You politicise everything you read in a newspaper and everything is a conspiracy. I avoid trashy red-tops and even the broadsheets I rarely touch still need to quote reliable sources. You seem to eat them up for breakfast.

Thing is investment banking is fucked in this country for the near future and no real chance of UK holding on to the role as a world leader financial hub wIth all the regulation it’s been through and with the impending Brexit. It may work that out to an advantage but normally the gov prefers to a load of shouting fisherman with GDP of 0.12% v IB of 7 %, I doubt anything is going to improve that. Maybe PPE manufacturing will be the next growing sector.

We already make PPE equipment. Even more since lockdown started. The government would rather just buy shite from Turkey only to find out it’s not to standard.
