Based on the first game in round of 16, it seem clear that the Group G where Porto and Besiktas came through was the weakest one. Both theams got trashed 0-5 (although against excellent opposition). After that it must be Group A where Basel got trashed 0-4 and United hung on to a 0-0 Draw after being under great pressure most of the game. Abysmal performances from those 4 teams.

From the other Groups we have seen quality teams earning a Place in last 16.

Man Utd will beat them in the return leg. Sevilla's best chance was getting a couple of goals ahead last night.

You're probably right, more's the pity. Were Sevilla to nick the first goal it could get interesting, but that's probably wishful thinking on my part.

Some interesting results this eve. Leipzig loose 0-2 at home at Napoli and crash out after that great away win. Rodgers crash against Zenit. Villareal out. Dortmund struggles. And the famous Danes loose 5-1 on agg.

Leipzig won 3-1 away ... so a 2-0 loss at home sees them through on away goals no?

Yes, it was. The LFC job was vacant not long afterwards and Mourinho was known to be interested, but the scuttlebutt among my Liverpudlian mates was that - despite the fact that ManUre were the victims - his antics that night were a factor in the board turning him down in favour of Rafa.

We might not have had a CL but we'd have had a league title or two by now if we had gotten him,

Why on Earth would you WANT to face United in the final, offering the possibility of losing to the on the biggest stage in club football?!

Obviously a win would be the things dreams are made of but the alternative.....

To experience great success you have to risk great failure.

There would be no sweater feeling that beating them in the final.

The FA Cup in 96 was heartbreaking but the 2002 league cup final was amazing.

Unfair, Besiktas were the better side before losing a man and held their own for a while after.
