Let me elaborate. Let's say, for the sake of argument, Kenny isn't the manager come June.

Does hiring a high profile manager like for instance Guardiola attract top rated players, despite us not playing in the CL?

Does it show intent?
Rafa got Alonso to join us despite him being one of the top talents in Spanish football or was it CL football and his nationality that clinched it? Or maybe money?

Just wondering what your thoughts on this is.

I wouldn't say that it's a conclusion but Kenny isn't as high profile world wide as some other managers in football atm.

When Guardiola stepped in to the Managers role at Barca he had no reputation as a coach, having only managed their B team for a year.

Dalglish has just done something that Wenger hasn't managed in 5 years... won a trophy.

In the absense of a "super-star" named managed or champions league football, as mentioned, hard currencey will probably be a more effect means of hiring talent.
