Calvin Ramsay our second summer signing?

Does that mean Neco will be on the available list with Ox and Taki
Unless Fulham offer top dollar, we could loan Neco to them for another season. That way we see if he can cut it regularly in the league.

Risk is that he won't and we'll have lost the chance to make decent money.

My only issue with this signing is, yes capable back up; but aren't we full on stifling his development? He's behind a 23 year old scouser who's adored.

You'd think we'd be looking at capable 28-29 year olds as backup

And Conor Bradley is of the same age as Ramsay.

*cough*

Until we move said Scouser into midfield.

*cough*

That's all well and good until Trent gets injured, loses form, decides he wants to be a midfielder etc. Of course we all want Trent to be our RB for the next decade but the club can't just assume everything works out

If he's better than TAA then he'll be adored himself rather sooner than later.

Football fans are fickle.

Trent played over 50 games last season and looked knackered at the end when it really mattered. If we can get in someone who can share his workload a bit then it will only help him as well.

Kostas ended up being involved in 26 games last season, while Robbo was involved in 46.

5 subs being introduced will also help him get minutes.

Supposedly Aberdeen have upped the price to £5m upfront and £5m in add-ons. I can't see us paying that, it's a ludicrous sum for a young player who has never been tested outside SPL.

Actually that seems fine to me. Robbo wasn't exactly highly rated either when we bought him but I'm sure we'd have had no issues with the add-ons considering how he turned out. Similar situation with Ramsey. We clearly have no problem with the initial £5m and if he turns out as expected then the additional £5m in add-ons is fair and he'd still be well worth the money.

We had a season of data for Robbo at PL level when we bought him. This is much more of an unknown quantity. £10m would be more than we paid for Carvalho and Elliot combined.

But it's not £10M, it's £5M. It only becomes £10M if he makes the grade, so, at that stage, the "unknown quantity" and "lack of prior premier league experience" factors become irrelevant
