If what you're getting at is that this indicates that the manager's thinking is much too rigid, I agree. Playing away from home should not autmoatically mean playing in a less ambitious way. Making that kind of assumption is indicative of somebody who's too fearful or too stupid (or both) to be managing a club which has ambitions like ours.
But This is what roy said only last month:

Hodgson, appointed by managing director Christian Purslow in July to replace Rafael Benítez, has overseen just one Premier League win in six games — though he remains unbeaten in Europe — after a series of mediocre performances and his side begin Sunday afternoon’s visit of Blackpool hovering just above the relegation zone.
Such a résumé is hardly the sort of start deemed acceptable at Anfield. Hodgson, though, is quick to scotch the suggestion that his style of coaching and philosophy of play is not suited to a club where expectations are so high and the staff at his disposal so high-profile. “Unbelievable,†said the Liverpool manager, when asked whether his approach could be applied on Merseyside as effectively as it was in west London. “How many clubs have I had in 35 years? What do you mean, do my methods translate? They translated from Halmstads to Malmo to Orebro to Neuchâtel Xamax to the Swiss national team.
“The question is quite frankly insulting, I suppose. That question is suggesting something. To suggest that suddenly because you move from one club to another, the methods that have stood you in good stead for 35 years and made you one of the most respected coaches in the Europe suddenly do not work. I find it very, very hard to believe that someone has even asked me that question.â€
One of the most respected? I wouldn't say he's in the top 100 coaches in Europe.
roy is piss poor but do you think there are ONE HUNDRED better managers than him? actually, don't answer that 🙁

Does any mong still want Budgie as manager?
We've been through this before, did anyone even say they wanted him? People just backed him because he was err, Liverpool manager. He deserved that much, but he's been shit.
I will say though, 'some' of the blame has to fall at the feet of the players. some of the play yesterday was a disrace, utterly clueless, the hoofs, the wayward passes, the noneexistent movement. roy didn't say to carra, 'jamie, I want you to send it long all game long'
Definitely Neil, for too long now too many of them have been playing like passengers who can't kick a ball, and given the wages some of them are on, it's a joke. There's probably about 5 players I can be arsed with right now.

I can't even be bothered to talk about yesterday or Roy or the players.

There were zero positives, so we might as well write the lot off and start again next week with the Hammers.

I never want us to lose but if it meant the owners hands were forced/lead to woy doing the sensible thing for the club, then I'm all for it.

"What do you mean, do my methods translate? They translated from Halmstads to Malmo to Orebro to Neuchâtel Xamax to the Swiss national team."

From shit non-entity to shit non-entity.

'I can't get upset every time the fans chant someone's name. Fans make their frustrations felt every time we lose a game - but unfortunately they may have to do that a few more times this season, because I can't see us winning every game.'

No you stupid clown, most people won't be overly surprised if we lose to Man U, Arsenal, Chelsea for example. But, and perhaps it's just me, I don't expect to lose to Stoke or Blackpool, and draw with Northampton.

This does apply to most cases.

Anyway, he's honestly had enough time now... unless we replace him with someone better quickly we're in a whole world of trouble. We won't get relegated this season, but we might next once everyone has finally buggered off.

Right, that's the thing, he acts as if we are all idiots with unreasonable expectations. Most Liverpool supporters wanted a season where we consolidated our losses, then improved in January. That's not asking for too much. But no, we are reactionary simpletons who he *sigh* knows all too well about from all his many years, and he'll just have to *sigh* deal with us.

Hahahaha

Roy needs fucking off, obviously - but so do many of our ageing, overpaid squad, which will serve as a burden to any incoming manager. Any man coming in will have to be given patience and a good deal of it, too.

Fans will be patient if a manager has an impressive CV backing him up, but the problem there is top quality managers are thin on the ground, so I think we're best looking at the next generation. Fans will bite their tongues if we appoint an impressive younger manager who is already shown signs of greatness and is working towards becoming amongst the very best.

It's important the club gets this decision right.

Here is the thing....I don't even think that Roy Hodgson is a nice guy. He comes across as a horrible person. He doesn't have one redeeming factor as far as i'm concerned.

There, i said it.

I think it's Roy's apparent lack of respect for the supporters that annoys me the most. Obviously results and play on the pitch haven't been as hoped (though perhaps not entirely unexpected) but the condescending tone he's taken of late is simply not acceptable. As Fark just said, the fans seem to be an infliction on him that he'll have to put up with. If I'm not mistaken, the fans are part of that unshakeable triad in the club that Shankly spoke of. Shame Roy doesn't seem to get that.

I thought his first interviews when he took over the job were good. He was relatively classy, straightforward, even showed a bit of wit. But as things have turned from bad to worse, his words and actions have devolved significantly. He is clearly not cut out for a job at a club of this stature. It's getting to him and it's obvious.

Also...on current form, can we expect Roy to apologize to the fans saying that he didn't really mean to criticize the fans (should read paying customer's in Roy's case) expressing their displeasure?

He is a cunt of a ginormous magnitude.

That's just bitter reactionary nonsense to be honest. Just because he hasn't gelled with us doesn't make him "a horrible person". He's a decent old man hopelessly out of his depth, that's all.

To be frank, i have been on the verge of slitting my wrist over this. So you may be right on that one...

But he has a funny way of reacting to criticism though....it's always along the lines of "you know nothing about football to question me.....". Which would be ok, if he stuck to what he believed and made it work, but then he goes ahead and panders to his critics' whim anyway....This whole cycle which keeps repeating over many issues makes me wonder if he has any clue at all.

bullshit.

inept tactics has seen us lose to the like of blackpool at home and stock away. just last week we were 5 points of 4th place. so you can come out with all the insults you like but competent tactics and management would see us pushing for 4th. we're not far off 4th NOW despite the worst starts for decades. so cut out the fucking insults.

The more stats you discover about Roy, the more depressing it gets.
In his career, he has won the same amount of away games, as we did in the 2008/9 season; 13...

FUCK OFF!!

Someone on twitter said Roy will have a meeting with NESV early this week. Please for the love of God do the right thing.

I did allude to that lil facteroo a few weeks back, foxy.

Bunnyman et al deemed it irrelevent.

Fucking mental statistic

If the team goes on a couple solid runs we'll be in the thick of the Top4 race come April but that will be due as much from our rivals struggling as it will from us putting in consistent performances.

I've believed that for ages Neil, but I really don't anymore, the likes of Maxi, Lucas, Konchesky etc are average and we're not going to make the top 4 with them in there everyweek. Some of our players have been a disgrace at times this season, their attitudes stink and their effort and ability to pass the ball three yards can't solely be blamed on the manager.

We need a new manager and we need a handful of new players and some of the young lads deserve a chance ahead of the shite that's getting paid millions for fuck all.

Roy said it was no point in looking at the table until 10 games were played. Now it is 13, and there is nothing suggestion that Roy has anything to contribute with in this club.

Certainly that's all true Mark and I wouldn't be putting any money down on a guarantee that we'll make Top 4 but it is still in reach for this squad this season. We certainly would be the weakest of any of the teams chasing that spot but we could well inch it.

Yeah, we do have a lot of mediocre players. I dont care anymore if they are high earners or not, they are not the players who will win us the PL. However they are the players we have, and we are certainly not using our team to its best at the moment. I dont believe one second that being outplayed in game after game after game creating nada is the best use of a squad were 13 players played in the last world cup and a few more have earned new international call ups. Especially when the teams that outplays us are bottom half teams fighting to avoid relegtaion battle.

I accept that we dont win every game. But the fact that we are not the best team in any single game this season (ok blackburn apart) shows me that the main problem is not the players. It lays much deeper than that, We have a management teamwiich is shit. Fucking bullshit manager with a assistant that is good at what?
