442 days since Roy Hodgson last won an away game in the Premier League when we meet Bolton on Sunday.

Sack.him.now.

If that had been Rafa's record the press wouldn't have stopped bleating on about it.

Anyone read ANYTHING about Roy's away record lately?

i wouldn't be totally surprised if it's 4231 days until his next away win tbh.

So I've been in Turkey for a week - what's the craic?

Is Roy still boss, are we still shit?

What news dear fellows?
We're officially slightly less shit but all our best players want to leave us, and Roy is still here. Those issues possibly being connected.
Haha Everyone wants to leave us except Roy, according to the papers.

Thanks God Roys (going to get) commited!

Well he's still here.

Roy's obviously been given the opportunity to turn this situation around.

He'll have until January at least, I reckon.

Paul Konchesky today backed Roy Hodgson to get Liverpool clicking into gear and ascending the Barclays Premier League table over the coming months.

The defender acknowledges the Reds have endured a mixed start to the 2010-11 season, but following the morale-boosting victory over Blackburn Rovers last time out, he's optimistic the side will soon begin to display their true potential.

And Konchesky is in no doubt Hodgson is the right man to lead Liverpool forward.

He said: "He wanted to come to Liverpool and do really well. It has been tough for him, just as it has been tough for us, but he is the one who gets the brunt of it.

"But I think he is the man who can take Liverpool forward. He works hard on the training ground, he wants to help you improve from day-to-day.

"He is not ashamed to tell you things that he thinks should be happening but if the players think something can be done another way, he will listen and take it on board. He is now starting to get his points of view across and I'm sure he can take us a long way.

"We have had a bad time and we have had to stick together. The manager has taken the brunt of the criticism but he has stayed in good spirits to try and lift the players. Hopefully we can now go from strength to strength."

Konchesky has experienced a whirlwind couple of months since following Hodgson from Fulham to Anfield on transfer deadline day in August.

Injuries have restricted the full-back to just seven appearances so far, while off the field, New England Sports Ventures tied up their purchase of the club.

"When you are on the outside, you read about the things that are going on but you don't really appreciate them," admitted Konchesky. "It's completely different when you come in and see it for yourself. It was hard at first to try and settle in.

"But I've got my head down and the lads have made me feel really welcome. In general, I've had a great two months here and I'm looking forward to the future. Touch wood, I feel fit now and hopefully I've had my share of injuries. I just want to have a good season now."

Confidence around Melwood has been buoyed by two highly encouraging displays against Napoli and Blackburn.

After grinding out a hard-fought goalless draw in Naples, Liverpool recorded a 2-1 victory over Sam Allardyce's side on Sunday to end a sequence of seven matches without a win.

The tempo and intensity of the Reds' triumph against Rovers was particularly eye-catching - and Konchesky is hoping they can maintain that momentum at Bolton Wanderers on Sunday.

"It wasn't just the result, it was the performance," he said. "From Napoli going into Bolton, you can see we've picked up a bit and there is a lot of fight. I think it is a sign that we are getting back on the road.

"There's a chance to get some momentum going now. It would have been tough if we had not got a result last weekend but things feel much better and the only way everyone is looking now is up. The aim now is to get back-to-back wins and push forward.

"We have had chances in the games we have lost and drawn but when the luck isn't going for you, there is not a lot you can do. But we set a tone last Sunday and kept going. It was one-way traffic and we just had to be patient."

Konchesky has already lined-up at the Reebok Stadium this season when he helped Fulham to a goalless opening-day draw in Lancashire.

He is, therefore, well aware of the threat Owen Coyle's outfit will pose.

"They have changed the way they play," said the Reds' No.3. "I was there when Fulham played them earlier in the season and they do try and play football but they can still go long if need be. It will be tough but if we can start as we did against Blackburn, there's no reason why we can't win again.

you could be right, but i'm not sure how you get the impression that he's 'obviously been given the opportunity to turn the situation around'. that's jut total speculation.

in my opinion:

- they were never going to sack him in their first week. too much bad PR.
- we won fairly impressively vs blackburn. they were never going to sack him after that.
- i always said that after the blackpool game he'd have to get a minimum of 4 points from the next 3, he's got 3 so needs a draw tomorrow.

i still think he's in big trouble: even with a win tomorrow, if we lose against chelsea and then wigan (A) i reckon that'll be curtains.

I think it might take longer than that. NESV might just consider writing off this season and concentrating on getting everything behind the scenes right. Then when they're happy with that, and have had a good length of time to consider replacements they might get rid of Hodgson.

On balance I'm with Peter on this. If they do keep Roy on they'll have to give him money in January but, if they've already got their share of doubts about him (and how could they not have?), they may not be keen to do that. There's also this rumoured buy-out clause which will have to be triggered soon if it does exist.

NESV won't make wholesale changes just yet. They will want to stabilise the club first.

I think that Roy will have until January to turn things around. Even if he does, he may well get the boot at the end of the season.

I think so long as we're destined to finish in the top half or so then Roy will still be around, and then gone in the summer. People will say that Roy isn't capable of 'achieving' this from our position at the moment, but I completely disagree.

Those expecting an imminent departure I suspect will be disappointed.

It's possible, but it'll depend on the escape clause.

If it really does kick in soon then I expect he'll get the sack.

Henry does do things differently and there looks a definate shift in the transfer policy if reports are to be believed.

Roy may well get money to strengthen the squad but final approval will come from Henry and the Board so I have confidence that we'll get in the right players.

I'd say that faith in a board which doesn't exist yet, and will probably know very little about football, could be considered misplaced.

At this stage anyway.

That being the case Squiggles, I stand to be corrected if it doesn't happen.

Needless to say, King Kenny looks to be taking a more hands on approach with transfers. I have confidence.

Dunno, I trust Dalglish with signing a few kids here and there.

But If they have given him a greater say shaping the future of the first team squad then I just hope he's up to it. And if this is all the case, he'll still be working alongside Roy for this role, and rightfully so IMO, because there still should be an agreement between manager and 'DOF'

The best thing we can hope is for is that it's an agreement after a lot of considered thought, which is something that's been sorely lacking in recent years.

4th place is still up for grabs so let's hope the hapless roy against all odds can go on a run. obviously not literally as that would tire him out.

Dalglish is Liverpool and you can be sure that he ain't here to do charity work.

Looking at the kids coming through, we've a bright future ahead!

Kids (like Shelvey) which the King's already been instrumental in signing. Of course he's "up to it". It's Roy who deserves that query hanging over him.

Yes, kids like Shelvey, and if you say so. I'll wait to be convinced.

You know, I said the other day that I couldn't really give a fuck about Roy. He's a nice guy and probably isn't the one to lead us to where we want to be, but he IS our manager and he's had a tough start in terms of fixtures.

Blackpool was a terrible loss, but we have a shocker like that in us most seasons. The other defeats were Everton, United and City, all away, losable games in any given season. It took him three months to get to grips with Fulham and have them winning games. Yeah his away record was shit but in Europe and at home they became formidable for a side that had earlier been on the verge of relegation. We're a better team, no doubt, so you'd hope that the away record would improve while setting up a steady home record.

At the end of the day, I just want Liverpool to climb the table and start winning games, Roy's future is something that will be dealt with in due course, I hope we fuck Chelsea everywhere next week, firstly because I want Liverpool to win, secondly because it might shut all the moany bastards up who clearly fucking *hate* Roy and can't wait to tear apart everything that the guy says and does. I think a few people have lost sight of what we're here for and the fucking lowest of the low was the shit a few bellends posted in the Blackpool thread > "I hope we get beat today so he gets sacked". Well done to all of those.

I've got a mad feeling about next weekend.

I think we'll get a point or three out of it.

To be fair I'll always think that,I don't think I'd love football if I didn't think that week in,week out regardless of how mind-numbingly gash we play

Good post Mark. I would say thought that whilst most of the games we've lost are potentially losable in any season, the fact remains that we would normally pull out a result in at least one or more of these games. The fact we failed to do so combined with the aberration against Blackpool and our generally poor standard of play means Roy has justifiably kopped flack. We've been shite.
