BYE BYE ROY!!!!!

I don't see what the problem is. If we are still struggling come January I doubt very much the owners will keep him on, never mind give him £30m to spunk away. And if we're not struggling it means we're doing well. I know the thought of Roy doing well galls a number of people.

Roy on transfers:

“I want to make sure the money, whatever amount I am given, is spent wisely. That’s so that at the start of the new season I have a new squad who I believe can give it a good go. We are trying to scout players of the highest level in the hope we can afford them.â€
no joke, that actually made me feel fucking sick reading that.
Why? There's absolutely nothing in that statement that warrants the onset of nausea. Some people hate Roy, well, because.
It's one of the few sensible comments he's made

He's spunked 9m on Konchesky and Crapsen

Rafa paid that for Dossena alone.

We are closer to Christmas than the start of the season, Roy doing well doesn't 'gall' us, we just can't see him doing very well.

On fair result against a weakend team at home, somehow makes some people forget all the SHITE we have had to put up with over the last few months, and even though we won we are STILL in a relegation place not like a blip, we have been in a relegation place for a fucking MONTH!

Which is why he needed booting. But let's not pretend that Budgie is in the same league as Benitez as a manager.

He's fucking shit

We do know what he'd do with money:

Buy Kevin Davies and get relegated

The useless old cunt's already tried to buy Carlton Cole, and for every Meireles (his choice?) He's spunked 9m on Konchesky and Crapsen
you mean the rumours about him being a benitez target? have you heard anything convincing?

there are loads of things i could say about that around exact fees paid and percentages recouped etc that'd make you lose the will to live, so i'd tread carefully if i was you.

I really don't care about the 9 mill spunked on Crapsen and Konch. We have 9 points from 9 games, playing shite football for 95 % of the season, and lost to fucking Northampton and Blackpool at home. He isn't good enough, shouldn't be trusted with a huge transfer kitty and needs sacking. 30 away games since his last win, confident on sunday? Ehhh no.

We will NEVER win anything or get 4th with that old man in charge. Simple.

I don't know why you're all getting ate up. The Dossena jibe was a joke. Looks like it was a red rag to a bull. Hodgson is nowhere near the calibre of Benitez but as I say, he'll be booted before January if we continue to struggle.

HodgePodge has done his job, he's steadied us at the bottom of the table, leave him alone.

Is he still here? Not been sacked yet?

Why wait til January, when the hole is bigger. If he's not good enough, he's not good enough. Anyone can see that. Just look at this record. Look at his teams? There's nothing of note there.

I don't quite get your post though,Pete.

Are you saying that Hodgson only got in Meireles because he was a Benitez target?

mate i've no idea. there are rumours that he was a benitez target, i hadn't really given them much credence, but as Brendan referred to them i thought i'd ask to see if he'd heard anything particularly convincing.

i guess we'll just have to wait for him to reply!

I don't get the whole red rag to a bull thing. Sure, bulls dislike red for some reason but what have they got against rags?

Surely they hate matadors more? Shouldn't we say "like a red matador to a bull"?

Even if it's fabric that they hate, wouldn't a bull hate a red bedsheet even more than a rag?

We could even say "like a red flag to a bull" without changing the sound of the idiom too much but making it far more realistic is capturing the feelings of a bull.

the color has nothing to do with it 🙂 Said a scientist from a hospital bed who experimented with a blue rag

NESV probably have already decided to get rid of him at some point. But there's not much sense doing that before they've scouted the ideal replacement, and like it or not, that could well take time. Particularly if they want to appoint a chief executive (who would then be responsible for choosing a manager) first.

In the meantime, it's surely just a good thing if Hodgson can do what he was hired to do in the first place: ie steady the ship, pick our best team consistently, and get us into a decent league position. The idea that if he strings a few wins together, NESV might decide to keep him long-term is just ludicrous. They're serious about this. Our next manager will be (fingers crossed) someone really ace. We just have to be patient - and, dare I say, *supportive* - until that happens.

so you don't think there's any chance that he'll cling on til january and be given serious money to spend? serious question.

what would you see happening re: january transfers if NESV haven't had time to find a replacement? just not release funds? again, serious question, not having a go.

If he's still here in January then he'll be given funds. If they don't give him money then they don't trust him and would therefore get shut beforehand anyway.

I agree, it's a legitimate question. I don't know how long it will take them to find a new chief exec and manager, but if Hodgson IS still here in January, then I would hope that he won't be deciding on the players we sign on his own. Dalglish should certainly be part of the decision-making process, if not actually in charge of it.

And I think it has to be stipulated that if Hodgson wants to make any short-term signings (eg a battering-ram striker so he can make his 'system' work) then they have to be young enough and at a reasonable enough price that we'd be able to sell them without making a loss if and when a new manager came in.

That's the best I can do, I think.

It's not ideal. But I do seriously think it's preferable to hiring a new manager in haste, particularly if there's no one of the right quality available at the moment.

We have been in the relegation zone for a month now . If we still remain there after the next few fixtures ( which is very likely) I think he will get the sack.
