Is he still here? Not been sacked yet?
Why wait til January, when the hole is bigger. If he's not good enough, he's not good enough. Anyone can see that. Just look at this record. Look at his teams? There's nothing of note there.

NESV probably have already decided to get rid of him at some point. But there's not much sense doing that before they've scouted the ideal replacement, and like it or not, that could well take time. Particularly if they want to appoint a chief executive (who would then be responsible for choosing a manager) first.
In the meantime, it's surely just a good thing if Hodgson can do what he was hired to do in the first place: ie steady the ship, pick our best team consistently, and get us into a decent league position. The idea that if he strings a few wins together, NESV might decide to keep him long-term is just ludicrous. They're serious about this. Our next manager will be (fingers crossed) someone really ace. We just have to be patient - and, dare I say, *supportive* - until that happens.

so you don't think there's any chance that he'll cling on til january and be given serious money to spend? serious question.
what would you see happening re: january transfers if NESV haven't had time to find a replacement? just not release funds? again, serious question, not having a go.

I agree, it's a legitimate question. I don't know how long it will take them to find a new chief exec and manager, but if Hodgson IS still here in January, then I would hope that he won't be deciding on the players we sign on his own. Dalglish should certainly be part of the decision-making process, if not actually in charge of it.
And I think it has to be stipulated that if Hodgson wants to make any short-term signings (eg a battering-ram striker so he can make his 'system' work) then they have to be young enough and at a reasonable enough price that we'd be able to sell them without making a loss if and when a new manager came in.
That's the best I can do, I think.
