GH was giving a season to redeem himself, rafa should have been given the same courtesy. look at his record ffs, he'd earned it.
A separate issue. One that's been done to death.
Neil in backtracking shocker, didn't he spend the whole of last season telling us how shite and defensive Rafa was? Has he blamed Skrtel for everything today yet and offered his love to Agger and Babel for their shocking absence that cost us everything?
I said there were occacisons where I thought rafa was defensive but not once did I think we wouldn't be able to win the league as a result of that. c'mon mark, don't try and make out that I had anything other than love for rafa and wanted him to be given another season but that simply isn't true.

That poll quite clearly showed that most of 6CM (apart from the usual clueless cunts who are wrong about everything) would have chosen Benitez over managers like MONg, Budgie and McLeish

By over 50%

I understand that when you replace a manager most of the time you don't actually know who the replacement is. It's all rumours in the papers and that sort of stuff. I didn't want to get rid of Benitez because I thought he was alright - but I wouldn't have been so nervous if the things I was hearing (admittedly just in the papers and on forums) indicated that someone better was coming in. But I just never felt that - especially with the ownership thing as it was. I would have accepted it if I'd had that confidence. Anyway Hodgson will surely be replaced and it will have turned out to be the "temporary" appointment we all thought it would be. Let's get positive about who the next one might be 😉

rafa benitez is definately one of the best managers in european football.
there was an injury crisis.
the club was an utter shambles off the pitch.
the club was looking for new owners.

look at rafa record before the new owners arrived.
1 european cup.
1 fac cup.

look at the first season when the new owners gave rafa 'proper' money
european cup final

look at the season before last even with the off the pitch distraction
2nd in the league

and the board deemed this world class manager (yes WORLD CLASS) deserved the sack, for failing to qualify for the CL

a fucking SHIT decision from the board and the chickens have come home to roost.
Injury crisis???

Oh do fuck off.

Scum played with a bunch of kids in their defence for a quarter of a season.

Never heard any of them complain.

Maybe he shouldn't have spent close to £40m on 2 players if he was going to have an "injury crisis" (and I can't actually remember that happening, but nevermind).

no question the last two transfers were windows were fuck ups but it certainly wasn't helped by needing to sell to buy. ALL managers make transfer fuck ups.

Even by your standards that's ridiculous. All it illustrates is the impossibility of shifting an idea from your head once it's taken root there.

We were 2nd in the league as much because of others' failings as because of our own displays on the field, which only took off late in the season. Rafa's stubbornness (very reminiscent of your own) had long since started to take us down one blind alley after another in terms of transfers, team selections, team tactics and man-management. The owners did make a royal mess of things but Rafa made his own mistakes entirely separately, and it was painfully obvious that we weren't going ANYWHERE under him by the end. Even Carra, the arch-loyalist, has said it was time for Rafa to go.

Give it up, neil, FFS.

Just watched 'Carra's Games' on LiverpoolFCTV with us getting results against Man U, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Juventus, Barcelona et al with Benitez in charge. I could have cried.

His replacement should have been of the same or better standard. Instead we have the nice guy who has been overpromoted.

We have new owners and the perfect opportunity to make changes. Do it.

I will give it up, judge, because even though I like him he is gone.

How long can we wait though? The season is a write off in october, and if he stays in charge for a couple of more months we'll have a real relegation battle on our hands.

I hate it when people say we're to good to go down, there is no such thing. If we continue in the same gutless tactic passenger negative approach we'll fucking go down.

If Roy doesn't win against Blackburn. It's time to go. We can wait for something that clearly won't happen anyway. The board fucked up on his appointment, fine. Now fix it.

there are plenty of people who'd question that - i'm not saying the rumours are true, but they're hard to disprove either. i'm personally not willing to dismiss them just because carra's a legend.

even the interview with benitez himself by dion fanning (yeah, yeah, he's a total cunt etc - but these were benitez's words) hinted at something underhand going on last season.

who knows if carra undermined rafa by purposely throwing games...

Blackburn had a disastrous start to the season and Hodgson was sacked in December 1998, with the club bottom of the league table. His final game was a home defeat to Southampton.

NESV, do it before it's too late

From Paul Tomkins:

had it confirmed to me by someone in the know that Carra refused to play at right-back at Boro – as most knew – but said in front of everyone “it’s your fault for buying sh*te in summerâ€

he must be of the/one of the players who revolted against rafa and caused unrest in the team last season

i don't think anyone's suggesting that, more like leaks to the press etc, and general disloyalty. now IF carra wanted to see the back of rafa, then i've no problem with that - as long as there were no deliberate attempts to undermine him - but it'd make calling him the 'arch-loyalist' very fucking rich indeed.

Not giving youth a chance and playing Kelly was so fucking stupid that he should be twatted with a cold fish.

Carra isn't a right back. Or a left back.

Oh fuck off back to Rawk, you mentalist.

That was my biggest worry with his appointment. 2 away wins in 38 games. Thats got fuck all to do with the teams quality, thats down to the approach and tactics.

SACK HIM. NOW.

everton was roy hodgson's 30th away game in a row without a win.

Can someone please start an e-mail campaign to make sure NESV know this?

Who in their right mind would persevere with a manager with such a record?

Fucking hell.

it's quite possible now - given our next 2 PL games are at home against 'beatable' opposition - that he'll be sacked without ever winning an away league game. that'd surely have to be an LFC record?

are u ok?
