He deserved criticism when we were struggling pre New Year and he deserves credit for our current run of form.

He still deserves criticism for his part in some of our signings though, especially for leaving us with only one top class striker who is injury prone. I guess most of the signings should be given at least a full season and maybe more, prior to being labeled failures.

Do you remember when people wanted to bring Rafa back?
Theres some silly cunts on here would STILL have him back. Even though hes about to get sacked from his third job out of the last four (the other one they didnt offer him a job).

We got lucky that we weren't losing at half time.

However, when he did change it, it worked superbly so he has to get credit for that. His subs were good too.

We can't afford to wait so long to react in future as better teams will have put the game beyond us. Maybe if Rodgers mixes it up a bit more, it'll be our opposition who need to be reacting as they'll be guessing a bit more.

Honestly, I'don't agree. that's Danny Mills commentating talk. Yes they were on top, but they had 1 decent chance. maybe 2. hardly the stuff of total domination.

I liked it because we were under the kosh but we still restricted them to very few real chances, and we were solid at the back.

All good teams have off days, but if you are able to still keep it tight at the back, well, that's a real success making story.

I don't actually think most of it IS self-congratulation. I think he just loves talking about tactics and systems. But I was thinking about this a while ago: Rafa actually used to chat almost as much to hacks about tactics and formations, but they tended to only report it in very vague and general terms (e.g. 'Rafa moves the salt and pepper around excitedly as he explains Mascherano's role...'). Maybe Brendan is too trusting of the hacks, and/or maybe they have more of an agenda with him, but they tend to include far more specific details about his discussions.

I just think he's got a great job and likes talking about it.
