Boxing please

It is a massive clash of styles. Wilder with his punch as hard as he can with every punch to Fury with his side on hard to hit style.

I think you’ll see Fury 5-1 up on the cards before getting caught. Then we can see if he has a chin.

I think Fury is mad taking Wilder before at least one more fight, somebody like Dillian Whyte, who is a lower grade fighter but who is more in the Wilder style than the dumpling he fought tonight. But power to his elbow, I'll be supporting him against Wilder.
Supporting him? Seriously?!

Why the fuck wouldn't you want that bigoted, rude, ignorant, ill-educated cunt to get knocked the fuck out?!

If I hated people because they were ill educated I'd be hating on a lot of people. His bigoted comments (which were in the past) are the result of that poor education and the culture he comes from, they aren't innate symptoms of him being an evil man. He's still learning about the world. As I said, I respect him for the journey he's been on, and I respect him as a boxer. I'd like him to beat Wilder because that's an amazing story. Also, Wilder once said he'd like to have 'a body' on his boxing record. That's one of the most repellent things I've heard from a professional boxer.

I didn't know that about Wilder tbh, that's abhorrent.

I can't get behind anyone who's made the kind of bigoted comments Fury made though, you don't have to be well educated to know that someone being gay isn't a reason to hate someone, you just have to be a decent human being.

I'd bet you have people in your family who hold largely similar views. These views were widely held until comparatively recently, and among older generations in working class backgrounds they are still common. Is that because they're inherently wicked and bigoted? No, it is the way they were raised. His views come from a pretty popular book called the bible. Fans of that other popular book the Quran may have similar beliefs. I don't like his views, but I also don't think it is a good reason to hate him. I'd prefer people to engage with him and explain why these opinions are so problematic. Not just write him off and decide he is inherently a cunt.

Anybody watch the Khan fight last night? I know he's not a popular bod on here, but I actually have a soft spot for him. Was a very typical Khan fight. Some bewildering speed and exciting boxing (he fucking destroyed the guy's nose) but he hung his chin out and was put on his arse and although I don't think he was badly hurt he's probably lucky it happened close to the end of a round. Unfortunately for him a big puncher will always have a great chance of knocking him out.

Definitely lucky the knockdown happened when it did IMHO. He looked all over the place to me when he got up.

Yep, cant wait. What you going for dmishra? Unless it's a dodgy ref again, I'd probably go for a GGG points. Both got iron chins.

Canelo might struggle with his stamina and endurance this time due to the lack of performance enhancing meat, he'll probably get pretty tired late on, lose his concentration, then all it takes is for him not to see one of the punches and he's going to sleep regardless of his iron chin.

Canelo has to be as close to his best as he can possibly manage. IF he is and GGG isn't, he has a chance. Otherwise (and most probably overall) GGG wins IMO.

Difficult to call, to be honest. Dantes has a point - Canelo hasn't fought in a year, and could struggle for stamina, given that he is noted for stamina issues in the best of times.

That said, Golovkin has had just 1 fight in the last year too, and that too against sub-standard opposition. Plus he looks older and slower with every fight.

So I'm not sure how sharp either boxer is going to be. My fear is that it might end up as a damp squib, with neither fighter wanting to lose.

Canelo wins by majority decision. Thought it was a very close fight, and could have easily be scored in favour of Golovkin.

But then you can't beat Canelo on points in Vegas.

Should have been scored in favour of Golovkin IMHO. But as you say it was in Vegas, plus Canelo put up a better showing than I thought he might.

Canelo was excellent. If we learnt anything, then it's that Canelo is one tough bastard with a hell of a chin.

Golovkin must be gutted though - waited for years to fight Canelo. Finally got it at age 35. Got robbed first time. Very close fight second time. Does third time even make sense? He'll be 37 by the time that opportunity comes. Canelo is in his physical prime, and from what it seems, almost impossible to knock out.

What does Golovkin stand to gain with another 12 round fight left to the judges?

I think this is pretty much it for his career. Which is sad, because he had the talent, style and personality to be one of the all-time greats.

I had GGG by 3 in that fight, but never ever leave anything to judges or referees, they can't be trusted in boxing or football.
GGG just couldn't get any power shots off, and I presume he was a bit flumoxed by Canelo, a counter boxer, coming forward and pressurising him. I think he still did enough with his billion jabs to win it though, but the judges obviously thought that the dozen body shots Canelo threw were better. Can you imagine if mayweather had had judges like that through his career? He'd have never won a fight.

Fuck me they really drag these ringwalk out.

That Russian song went on for about a fucking hour. Not just that, the walk to the ring must be a complete twat. Who wants to spend six minutes walking to the bloody ring before they fight FFS.

Ha. Bex just said "I can still hear that fucking nobheads voice & he's not even hot a microphone".

No surprises she's talking about Tony fucking Bellew. You can hear him screaming through the fight.
