Boxing please

That was a wonderful fight. Credit to both.
Anthony Joshua learned that he has a lot to learn about ring craft. And everyone else learned he has a fucking jaw and the ability to come back from a big hit.

Great fight. I hope Vlad retires now. Hes been a terrific ambassador for the sport but has nothing to prove getting beaten by younger fitter men.

Joshua could dominate this division for years.

Oh and I hope he never entertains fighting that fucking pikey.

If he doesn't he'll always be accused of running from him and I doubt AJ could let that lie. However, Fury doesn't deserve to be in the same ring. Shame that Klitschko didn't produce a similar performance against Fury or there wouldn't even be a debate.

He'd destroy fury. Inside 3 too.

Joshua learnt more tonight than his last 8 years in the ring. Froch is a knob and got the scores well wrong.

Fight is the operative word, good fight, but in terms of boxing it was total amateur hour stuff from Joshua and a painfully hard to watch uphill struggle from Klitschko.

I don't buy that.

Klitschko showed some incredible boxing skills from rounds 1-4 to keep a determined Joshua at bay with that experience showing as he used the jab to great effect.

Following that he allowed Joshua in a bit more in a calculated gamble to allow him to land more punches, which almost paid off.

Sure Joshua showed he needed a few more top quality fights to improve his skills & experience, but he's still an extremely good boxer, & he'll only get better, he could well dominate the division for some time.

I find the most interesting boxer in the HW division is Luis Ortiz.

But he's 37, and hasn't had any big fights yet. It's time he challenged for a world title.

Guy has skills and the power.

How would Joshua v Wilder go down?

Well although a great win (although I lost money) I saw something in that fight I've never ever seen before in a HW fight in all the years I've been watching it - One of the fighters managed to 'un-gas' themselves midfight after being all over the show. Amazing.

Joshua is built a lot more like an athlete than most, if not all, heavyweight boxers before him. That is a huge asset & is undoubtedly how he managed to get a second wind & come back to win that fight.

I've seen plenty of athletic fighters before but never as big as him along with the pace & punching power to back it up.

Canelo v Chavez Jr today.

This might be the first fight in a while to break the 1 million mark in PPV buys.

Mexicans are really crazy about their boxing.

Snoozefest for Canelo. This guy was never going to be at it anyway, it's the same for most fights these days, the promoters pretend that the bum they've got lined up as opposition is an amazing talent, when they're actually shit. Look at all the fights Joshua has had where they've made his opposition out to be amazing - Martin, brejazle, whyte.
Glad that we're getting the biggest fight out there in Sept tho, there isn't not anything else near this for the foreseeable future, nothing even close. This is a bit like mayweather pacquiao but both fighters are actually pretty much in their prime.

Kell Brook v Errol Spence tomorrow.

I think that should be an excellent fight. Spence has been hyped up a lot - especially by Floyd. But I don't think he's as good as he's hyped up to be. We'll see.

I think I'm leaning towards Brook in this one.

I'm thinking it'll be a brook KO. Probably around 5th round.

Liverpool's Anthony Fowler makes his pro debut who has an impressive amateur record. 7 or so defeats in 200+ fights.

Just saw that Groves is fighting on the undercard, for a world title no less. Fedor Chudinov is the opponent, who's a fairly decent boxer too.

Might not be a bad fight that either.
