Boxing please

Btw, you get on to the reference his dad made? Told him to go out with the confidence of Golovkin, that's some ambition that!

So any interest in the Martin v Joshua fight? Joshua is a massive favourite with the bookies, but I might have a sneaky punt on Martin. Joshua has fought 14 bums and Dillian Whyte, who gave him his first real fight. Whyte really rocked Joshua in the 2nd in that fight, and Joshua actually looked vulnerable for a few rounds. This guy seems mentally very tough, and it will be interesting to see how Joshua responds to his first world class opponent. For me it is far more open than the odds the bookies are offering.

Martin is a southpaw too. Adding that to the huge step up in quality and AJ could struggle. Martin is 4/1 and is a huge price. Ive backed martin and bradley double tomorrow night.

Martin looks a bit like fury, someone who's a bit fat, tall, with very long arms that can do a 'bit' of boxing. I can see him causing Joshua problems though if he keeps him at distance like that twat fury did vs wlad. I think Joshua is a bit 'too' big to be a boxer, he's obviously in great shape, very low body fat and all that, but that is a lot of muscle for the heart to be carting around for 12 rounds, unless he loses some of it I can see him becoming a 6 round fighter. Saying that, Mr Tyson didn't make too much of a bad of doing that and Joshua has ridiculous power off the back of his frame.
I want Joshua to win, and if he can get in early doors then the fat Martin is out of there, but if it goes on longer I fancy Martin for the upset.

And regards to Joshua fighting 14 bums? Charles Martin has fought 23 of them.

I'm with @Mors in that I don't think Martin is world class. He's decent and will get better but nothing overly special and I'd put Whyte at a higher level than Martin as things stand at the moment.

The fact that he's a southpaw will cause AJ some issues to begin with but as long as he keeps his head (which he didn't do with Whyte and almost paid the price for) I fancy him within 4 rounds.

Admittedly, I know nothing about the standard of opponent Martin has been fighting. I watched Martin's pre-fight training vid, and he deffo isn't fat coming into this fight. His training looked brutal actually.

Edit: watched his weigh in, and whilst he isn't sculpted like AJ, he isn't exactly Butterbean.

He's like a slightly rough around the edges southpaw version of Lennox Lewis. He definitely hits consistently hard.

Good summary. I have an uneasy feeling it will go on longer and Martin may prove durable enough to get the verdict.

Brilliant! Congrats AJ!

Couldn't do anymore than that and showed again the power he has; Martin looked like he had no idea what had happened!

Think the fact Fury was absent despite the offer from AJ of ringside seats even though he was ringside at Deontay Wilders last fight (and then got in the ring and acted the cunt after the fight as per usual) and the amount the Fury camp have tried to belittle AJ's ability (and I'm not saying he's the finished article by any stretch of the imagination) speaks volumes. They're shit scared of having to face/fight him and I think they'll do everything they can to avoid that fight should the fat pikey wander get through his rematch with Klitschow.

Think the performances from Selby and McDonell were top notch too and deserve plenty of recognition.

The debut of Benn Jr couldn't have gone any better too and if he's half the fighter his old man was we're in for some cracking fights in the next few years

Tried staying awake for the Smith fight but failed. Saw the result while trying to find somewhere to watch it now. Bugger.

Ha. Same thing happened here. I should have just recorded the fucking thing but I hadn't set up the recording path on my streaming addon & was being lazy. That's on my to do list for today now!

Got in drunk after seeing bands for record store day. Woke up on the couch with an LFC fleece cover ma's Chrimbo present special about 9 in the morning. TV was showing replays of GGG from ages ago.

Klitschko will kill him in the rematch. Either that or we'll all have to radically revise our opinions of both fighters.

It's a disgrace he won it the first time round, but that's all on Wlad's head, it's massively embarrassing that he let a huge fat doorman with no boxing skill beat him when he's a trained athlete, and trains his fitness and boxing ability every day.

Anyone going to get up for canelo vs that other bloke? I'm tempted and hoping only to be up for 2-3mins at the most if I do get up. That other chap doesn't exactly like getting hit in the face, and Canelo hits very very hard with both hands.

In other news, the latest rumour doing the rounds is that Mayweather is going to come out of 'retirement' to fight Broner for no.50. He's already registered the trademarks in the last week or so for 'TBE 50' and 'TMT 50'.

I may watch the Canelo fight later if I can find somewhere open to watch it. And then I'm only watching to see the smug little prick he's fighting get a proper beating.
