Isn't having these little purple patches what Benteke has done throughout his entire career?

He scores in bunches, unfortunately for him he isn't going to play in bunches for Liverpool. At £35m he can't be shoved out to potentially 4th choice. He's still young and a good player for the right team as well as seemingly being a good guy, sell him on for his own sake so we can move on to the next big money mistake.

Those that said he was the wrong fit were right, those that said he could adapt (Benteke included) were unfortunately wrong.

It weird like. He's a good player but not the right 'fit' for us and Klopp. We better be careful we don't sell him to West Ham for 25 million and he scores 20 odd goals next season to keep them ahead of us. We'd hardly convince him to go abroad? Ah wait, that won't work, English clubs will probably have more money to spend than European clubs.

As said, he's a good player and a good striker, his record speaks for itself. He does miss chances, but so did Andy Cole (for instance), but he's not really been a great fit Liverpool and it's been six of one, half a dozen of the other on that note. At times he's looked like he hasn't wanted to adjust, and so have we.

We'll sell him and he'll go to London and bang them in for a team that will play to his strengths. Good luck to the lad.

I wish we can have him as an option coming of from the bench. He is an awesome plan B whenever we need to go direct. But he is too good to be a plan B sitting on our bench. If he goes to West Ham I can see him scoring 20 goals in the Premier League.

He's good enough to do that but, as others have said, he's actually a pretty streaky player. Even in his best days at Villa he had barren spells as well as unplayable ones. He could certainly do well for the Hammers or whoever but I'm not sure he'll score a truckload even then.

Decently argued, but we've looked worse as a unit when we've tried to shoehorn him into the pattern, which is why he hasn't had and will never get a long run under Klopp. It's quite true that we need a decent fee for him and I'd want more than £20 mill, but I wouldn't set a minimum of £25 mill. Somewhere between the two would be enough for me.

Can't disagree with that.

The situation reminds me of City's over the last few years where they've always had a decent target man type to call upon that doesn't quite mesh with the rest of the team.

Dzeko was similar in a way - "lethargic", doesn't really contribute to the build up play, needs crosses but scores lots of goals if given service. Dzeko seems to be a more natural finisher based on what we've seen though. Won them the title that year too the bastard.

The wildcard here is Origi, who potentially has everything in locker and would make Plan B(enteke) redundant.
