Anyway, this is the Benteke thread. It's extraordinary how much black (he's ordinary) and white (he's prolific) people's views are. I think he's neither but rather somewhere in between; however, if he's like Torres (when he first came) rather than Balotelli, he will be an upgrade on what we have. I just wish we be done with all this-- he'e either worth the money or not.
Villa have built their team around him since he's been there, like we did with Suarez, and all their attacks have been channelled through him if at all possible, and I'm presuming that's why he's been successful. I doubt that would be the case here, so I'm not sure how he'd get on. Could be great, I've no idea. Does anyone know how Genk used to play him before he went to the villa? He did quite well there, so I wonder if everything went through him.

In fairness, his going to the Mancs and succeeding wouldn't necessarily mean he'd have been suited at LFC. I agree that some of the criticism of him on here has been fairly mindless, but I do think there's a genuine question about how well he'd fit into Rodgers' preferred style.
I think he is lot more suitable for LVG style than Rodgers style. The reason for the lack of enthusiasm for his signing is due to us watching Balotelli and Lambert struggle in Rodgers system. Benteke will do better than those two, but not sure if he will be worth the 32.5 m outlay.
I paid little attention to this as I assumed they were going wild because Benteke was coming to us - and they were celebrating our stupidity.
