Benteke - BOOOOOO the puns

We might be able to pay it, but I'm not sure if we can get Lacazette anyway.
Should deffo try though.
Yep.. it is funny others on here accuse me of talking through my backside when I suggest exactly the same..

We should go all out to get him.. At the very least be seen to try..

We will end up with Someone like Berahino though no doubt.. Which isn't the stellar signing I'd like to see, but I would prefer him to Benteke..

So it's bollocks then, the Scum is where the Metro got it's story aswell.

And from the gossip section in the Telegraph it said that the Scum based this story on the fact that he favourited a tweet about Utd, but later unfavourited it.
Ground breaking journalism.

I like Benteke, he has shown he can do it in the PL I dont understand why so many hope we don't sign him. Good strength and pace and scores goals.

Maybe the price is a little steep and we still will not have that Stardust player (which will be a first for our club in the last forty years) perhaps this Lacazette lad is better but I haven't seen anything of him.

It's weird. I said all along that I didn't want him but he's a decent player who might suit another team and therefore I don't want United to sign him.

I reckon Sherwood would take a part ex deal for Benteke, which would bring down the Benteke price to a more palatable deal. It's whether fox/lerner would go for it, and whether we could convince the players. e.g Balotelli and Allen. That's probably bring the price down to about 15-20mill.
There's been the Lambert deal mooted but no one is going to value him at more than a couple of mill to knock off.

Utd want Cavani.. But will only probably pursue if Di Maria goes the other way..

That doesn't happen, I can then see them getting Benteke..

Christian Benteke
Liverpool are on the brink of completing a £32.5million deal for Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke.

The Reds have decided to trigger the release clause in the Belgium international's contract and he's set to become the second most expensive signing in the club's history.

Liverpool have been chasing Benteke all summer but had previously been unwilling to pay the asking price.

With Villa desperate to keep hold of Benteke and unwilling to negotiate on the price, a stand-off had developed in recent weeks but the impasse has now been broken by the Reds.

Following the £49million sale of Raheem Sterling to Manchester City, Liverpool have decided to quickly re-invest a large chunk of that windfall in the 24-year-old 6ft 3ins frontman.

Brendan Rodgers is a big admirer of Benteke and had placed him at the top of his summer wish-list as he looked to bolster the club's firepower.

Benteke, who has two years remaining on his Villa contract, has his heart set on a move to Anfield and once the £32.5million offer is received by the Midlanders he will be free to negotiate personal terms and undergo a medical.

That outlay will take Liverpool's summer spending to around the £80million mark following deals for James Milner, Danny Ings, Nathaniel Clyne, Joe Gomez, Adam Bogdan and Roberto Firmino.

Villa will have to pass on around £4million of the fee to Benteke's former club Genk.

Benteke scored 49 goals in 101 appearances for Villa over the past three seasons.

He was sidelined for six months after rupturing his Achilles in April 2014 and initially struggled on his return to action last season. But following the appointment of boss Tim Sherwood he hit top form - scoring a dozen goals in his last 12 matches to save Villa from relegation.

Everyone is reporting it now. He wants to move to Merseyside. We want him now so that he can take part in pre season aswell.

We are fucking Stupid.. Don't we ever learn?

32.5 million on the new Andy Carroll (Without the injuries)..

Is it time to start supporting the signing? Is this happening yeah? Not much we can do now but support him and get behind him so. I hope the lads on here backing this signing get to gloat all season long as Benteke bangs them in. Jury is definitely out for me as I didn't want him but he'll get my full support.

Unless Rodgers has decided in a change in playing style and formation I doubt that Benteke will be an unqualified success.
