Be Humble - We have not played anyone yet

Just remember after winning games and doing well that we have played no one yet - well that's the narrative.

- We have only played Arsenal away which was our most difficult fixture and we only drew.
- Only played the German Champions - at home and did not score till the second half.
- All our tough games have been mainly at home - and in that list I only include Villa, Brighton, and Chelsea

Our first halves have been shit in general - so we are lucky to win the games we have won,
We don't deserve to be where we are with signing fuck all in the summer transfer window
It's only our new managers first season - and has yet to implement his style properly so we are lucky to be where we are.

Generally we are a shit team.

I want to keep everyone on their toes - so that they are not upset. But seriously that is the narrative others are running against us and keep on doing it. But from a personal point of view - all the PL games we have played have not been a comfortable watch other than the fact that collectively we are defending much better as a team. Tonight's game against Villa was not easy - just could not see a way through their setup at times. But it's been difficult and tense watching us at times - and its going to get harder if our chances of winning the tittle get better if the others drop away further. But we will have a lot of hard games away from home in the 2nd half of the season - like City / Chelsea / Brighton / Forest - fuck just look at our last 4 fixtures of the season. it's going to be painful until the very end !!!

This "haven't played anyone yet" garbage is desperation pure and simple, from those who can't see us for the dust we're kicking up as we shoot off into the distance. Time and again in recent seasons we've done well against other top four sides, only to drop points needlessly against teams lower down the table, whom we're now (mostly) turning over. In the Prem anyone can beat anyone on any given day - it's the games you win when you're not at your best which capture the big trophies.

I don't massively disagree with people saying that though. We've had some difficult fixtures, but they've mostly been at home (bar arsenal). Fortunately, we've done absolutely everything I could have wanted and won a majority of these "easier" games, setting up a buffer for when we do get a difficult second half of the season

Meh. Whenever anyone asks me about if I think we'll win the league. I just say its too early and it's a long season.

Which is undeniably true.

Let's just enjoy that one game cushion for at least 2 weeks.

Ideal situation is we beat Saints, beat Real then in the press conference after beating City Arne drops the line “we haven’t played anyone above us yet”

Real have had Militao & Rodrygo added to the injury list, i am increasingly looking forward to this one.

Maybe I'm wrong but I see it like this, where has City and Arsenal dropped points this season?

City:
Home v Arsenal
Away v NUFC
Away v B'mouth
Away v Brighton

Arsenal:
Home v Brighton
Away v City
Away v B'mouth
Home v Us
Away v NUFC

Conclusion:

We haven't played Brighton away, Newcastle away and we haven't played City yet.
We have played against Bournemouth but it was at Anfield.

So I want us to show that we can go to Newcastle and come home with 3 points, go to B'mouth and put them in their place. Beat City at home for once and Spurs away.

At this point I can see City losing to Spurs at home and then losing to us at Anfield - and assuming we can beat Southampton away - we could be 11 points ahead of City if we beat them. I think for us to have any chance of winning the league both City and Arsenal (and am counting both of the as title challengers based on past 2 seasons) - we need to hope they continue losing and a massive points gap results because if we are still in it by end of April - and they are only 7 points behind us then I don't have confidence that we will get max points in these fixtures we have at the end:

26/04/2025 - Liverpool vs Spurs
03/05/2025 - Chelsea vs Liverpool
10/05/2025 - Liverpool vs Arsenal
18/05/2025 - Brighton vs Liverpool
25/05/2025 - Liverpool vs Crystal Palace

Those last 5 fixtures amounting to 15 points max - are proper cunt fixtures. All those teams have players that can hurt us.

Would it be wrong to say that one of the reasons we have done well so far - other than Saka of Arsenal - have we played against teams that have what you would describe as the very best high end players ? - I am enjoying the wins, but each win feels hard fought.

It feels inevitable that we'll hit a wall at some point. It might be down to tougher fixtures, injuries, loss of form or a combination of all. All we can do now is keep winning. Winning the league feels too good to be true so not holding out hope for that but enjoying the ride for now.

Those fixtures don't scare me.
Combine them with CL and FA cup games and I'll be shitting bricks.

Well have they been away at Arsenal, home to Villa, away at United, beaten Chelsea at home (Top 4 then), beaten Brighton at home or for that matter in the CL beaten Milan away and Leverkusen 4-0 at home?

You can't selectively pick matches and say 'we haven't played them yet', they may not win the matches we have and home or away they weren't easy matches. And note that neither have a perfect record at home.

The league table doesn't have a 'traditional' look about it yet but despite losing to us Brighton are 4th, Chelsea 5th and Villa 8th (and Forest 3rd for that matter)! Newcastle are currently 12th, Spurs are 9th and Bournemouth 11th ! We've played the harder games by that metric !!

That's a bugger of week (above) !

City beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, but yeah they haven't been to Arsenal.
The only thing Im leaving out are the European games, because they obviously don't have anything to do with the league

True Villa, Chelsea are currently higher than Newcastle in the table but we also played them at Anfield.
You can't compare away fixtures against B'mouth and Newcastle with home fixtures.

Yeah, I think this is a fair call. If we beat City, I could live with losing points in one or two of the others. 15 points from that run would be amazing, but 12-14 wouldn't be a total disaster.

We're in an ideal moment: the title rivals are genuinely in some of their weakest states in recent years. City have become overly reliant on the android up front, and they're struggling without Rodri and a few key players due to injuries. Arsenal, meanwhile, are making a huge fuss about missing Odegaard rather than addressing the fact that Arteta hasn’t signed a quality striker—not even a backup for the bench.

There’s no better time to extend the gap from the rest of the pack. Beating City at Anfield would be a huge step, and any dropped points in that fixture would be disappointing given the current context. “Any point is a good point against City”—well, fuck that. The main Christmas present we need is a Pep meltdown on the Anfield touchline.

And the android is surely due a serious injury ...

I am sure I heard him complaining about there being too many games

Let's see... In the Premier League we have played and beaten Brighton & Hove Albion, Brentford, Ipswich Town, Aston Villa, Manchester United, AFC Bournemouth, Chelsea.
We drew with Arsenal, and Lost to Forest

Brighton & Hove Albion have beaten Man Utd, Spurs Man city
And Drew with Arsenal, Forest
Lost to Chelsea

Ipswich have beaten Man city, Spurs,
Drew with Villa
Etc...

We are were we are becuase we are consistant. The only two blots are the lost to Forest 9 pts behind, who sit 3rd in the table, and a draw with Arsenal who are 9pts adift in 4th.
At this point we have yet to face City,2nd on 23 pts, and Spurs 12 pts adrift in 10th

We have faced some of the best this season and beaten most if not all

With respect to the hard run in, it means we have a comparatively easy run after this run of hard fixtures, and those 5 at the end.

If we still have a decent lead at Christmas then we should be able to pull further away in Jan - mat all being well.

I am unlike most supporters, I take great glee from opposition players being out for lengthy period. I would rather Spurs lost and take out KDB and Haaland for the remainder of the season.
The same goes for Arse and Odregaurd, his leg can get fucked too

Yes! YES! Give in to your anger and your turn to the Dark Side will be complete.

Ipswich did not beat city it was 4-1 to City

If we win the next two PL games then some unreal levels of hopium will take over my whole system.

If we then strengthen with purpose in Jan - realising we should try to lock in any advantage we have at that stage (which is not guaranteed as lose to City and that gap is buttons) then I think it's absolutey on.

Beat Saints (to ensure we aren't too focused on City), then beat City... oh boy.

I might be there with you.

Until then. Feet.. terra firma
