Barcelona's Yaya Touré tipped for Liverpool FC swap deal following agent claim

Yaya Touré could be in line for a move to Liverpool after his agent claimed that the Barcelona midfielder has already agreed a deal to join a Premier League club.

Chelsea and Manchester United have both been in the hunt for the 27-year-old, who has also been linked with a move to Manchester City where he would link up with brother Kolo, as Barcelona continue to eye Cesc Fabregas.

But after Arsenal rejected a £29million bid earlier this week, the La Liga champions have once again turned their attention to Javier Mascherano after failing to lure the Liverpool holding midfielder to Spain last summer.

A swap deal has been mooted with Mascherano, 25, keen to leave Anfield whilst Liverpool are unable to meet Barca's €36million asking price, but Touré's agent, Dimitri Seluk, has remained tight-lipped until the Ivory Coast international returns from the World Cup.

He said: "If everything goes well, Yaya will go to England.

"But we can't talk about definite clubs. We already have a closed deal, and all will be resolved before the World Cup."

Liverpool supporters also claim that managing director Christian Purslow hinted at a deal for Touré was imminent when he was bombarded with phone calls yesterday following Rafael Benitez's departure.

Yaya for Mascher wouldn't be to bad..

That last bit is a tad mad.

Why the fuck have you sacked Rafa, you snake cunt??

Errr.... we're gonna sign a Barcelona midfielder, he's gonna want to come here too, despite us having no manager and two massive skint cunts in charge! *waves free Chelsea flag*

I don't think we'll have Mascherano for much longer, so this would be an excellent solution, if it meant we get Toure and some money too. But he's been linked to City for a while, that's probably where he's going.

Aren't City loaded with holding midfielders? They have De Jong, Vieira, Kompany and Barry. But then again, they also have a bunch of strikers and allegedly still want to buy Dzeko so anything's possible.

great deal. do it. oh, toure is a better passer of the ball than mash.

yeh he has DiDi type qualities about him..

I would be tempted. If they are willing to send some money along with Yaya Toure this way to take Masher.

I honestly think that Yaya Toure would be a good replacement, he would definately put in some steel in our Midfield.

Hes taller than Masher and would be great at winning headers in the middle.

A central Midfield of Toure and Gerrard with Aquaman just in front is not too shabby.

Ok, so Mascherano is a great tackler with a great engine (the best in the world possibly). But he does have limitations to his game also. I think Toure is probably a more rounded DM and would not do a bad job here.

Let's keep mascherano instead please

I agree.. But only if his head and heart is with us. Last season he played a poor first half due to not having his head and heart with us.

Yaya Toure regularly runs closer to 10 km mark in a football match. He is no slouch when compared to Masher in this area. He is a hard working player. But as a DM i think he is a level below Masher.

Gerrard, Yaya Toure, Aquilani , Pacheco and Lucas (or another) would be a decent group of players to pick from for the midfield trio (Assuming we are going to continue with that system even after Rafa leaves)

City saying its not them.

So not City, not Ars as he wanted him to be in defence so us???

Re: Barcelona's Yaya Touré tipped for Liverpool FC swap deal following agent cla

I don't think any top player would go to a club with no manager. They'd want to know that they are the managers 'type of player'. What if our next manager doesn't play a defensive midfielder?

Ha! Good work, I reckon an adjective a week could be added at this rate. I should post that on Rawk.

If Masher wants to go our hands our tied.

Providing they offer up enough cash alongside Toure, I'd be reasonably happy.

Masher should be worth £25-30M, Toure, what? £15-17M?

Demand at least £10M on top.

I think there may be a point where we have to just sell someone who will bring in a fair amount of money, or as in this case a far enough deal. So Masher may well find himself as the big sale of the Summer, which by all accounts wouldn't upset him too much anyway.

Masher and Yossi alone could generate a fair whack for us to invest back into the squad, even though I don't really want to see either leave, better those two than Gerrard and Torres.

Riera and Babel should be prioritised way before Yossi.

We should be convincing him to stay. As I've said elsewhere, Babel and Riera would attract similar, if not more, fees, and both contribute way less than the Israeli.

masher to Barca is a red herring, no way have they given up on Cesc, they have only had one bid turned down

Yeah fair enough, I just thought it was a given they were going anyway. Well at least Riera, maybe a new manager might see something in Babel, the ability to make a decent brew perhaps.

Knowing Babel he'd probably try to boil the kettle only to end up turning on the microwave.

Toure, that young striker that Pedro has replaced plus 8-10 million would be great business depending on how badly they want Mascherano!

Toure is not coming to us.

Mascherano will leave.
