Balotelli

I think Rodgers has handled this poorly - Balotelli seems to have behaved well - no incidents whatsoever - and no reports from anyone about 'not training' etc ... Rodgers never wanted him. Top managers deal with players forced onto them, or away from them. They don't always succeed but they deal with them more professionally than Rodgers has. I hope he learns from this, and the committee (regardless of who pushed the buttons to sign Balo) should be told that any player where there is such a 'NO' from the manager shouldn't be signed - regardless of value etc.

I'm so sick of hearing 'I hope Rodgers learns from this'. Gets trotted out every time he makes a twat of himself. The guy's a bellend.

I can't believe I'd ever think this, but I'm actually with Ballotelli on this. He's been treated with a complete lack of professional respect. Dreadful deal all round. Awful decision to buy him. Said it from day one.

So not only do you abhor the debate in the other thread on Rodgers' divorce, even though you constantly return there and probably have more posts than Peter Hague in the thread, but now you drag it over into this thread ! You are like a United fan; detest Liverpool but obsessed with them at the same time 😉

Well if you really DO think there are that many posts by me in that thread then you must be a bit, well, stupid. As for the rest, an epic fail, froggy, a really, really hopeless effort. 😉

*sigh*

It was worth a try.

*puts fishing rod away*

Wished we had kept Borini in the reserves too last season so he would have got the messge.

Can see BR not wanting to repeat those mistakes.

No doubt that we could have treated him better and Rodgers could have handled it differently.
But he was also sick/injured etc for God knows how many times last season.
The amount of training sessions he must have missed are insane.
Its not like he's been this top professional just waiting for his chance.

Being injured is not unprofessional.

He was back in training the day after his Dads funeral flying straight back, which tells you plenty about his professionalism. Typical mindless shite.

Mindless? I'll find the stats to his availability.

But are these examples the signs of a professional, like Lambert;

Controversy magnet and Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli appears to have ditched his football club for a nightclub, after being spotted at the One Central Club in Manchester on the same day he declared himself "too injured" to play.

The 24-year-old Italian was absent from the Reds' 4-1 away defeat to Arsenal on Saturday after signing himself off with a sore knee.

Balotelli's entourage was apparently seen necking vodka, walking into a ladies' restroom and joking with girls before leaving the Manchester venue late at night.

Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli was spotted eating out in Manchester on Saturday night despite missing his side's Premier League trip to Aston Villa through illness.

The Express reports that the 24-year-old was omitted from Brendan Rodgers's 18-man matchday squad at Villa Park over the weekend because he was feeling under the weather.

However, the Italy international obviously made a speedy recovery after uploading a photograph on his official Instagram account that clearly shows Balotelli and his boys enjoying dinner out at a famous northern nightspot the very same evening.

Yes, he did that. Fair play to him. But Its easy to back Ryans point about people not remembering what happened last year at this point of the new season.
As I said, we've handled this poorly but he'll have to blame himself aswell.

He's been a massive pain in the arse for every manager he's worked with.
There's massive talent there but Maureen couldn't get him playing and Mancini shipped him out to save his own job.
Not one club with aspirations of winning anything will take him off us.
We're taking a loss on him but I don't give a shit.
He needs to go or the circus will be back in town again shortly.

Balotelli is a waste of space. He has ability but will never apply it and will always find an excuse.

When you buy a very expensive car you regret, you try to sell it on at the best price possible. Leaving it on the drive way for birds to shit on will not make it an easier sell.
The best option is to find an EPL club to take him on loan, swansea, west ham, hull, southamton, even everton should all come before any offering we look at from Italy,

Awful article in the Echo today. Praising Lambert for the way he left us but having a go at Balotelli.
Keep it behind closed doors FFS. Awful.

Don't quite know what balo has done wrong. No one wants to buy him.

We're coming across as pathetic

I have a degree of sympathy with the club over this. After the accusations levelled at them for the way they've treated Balotelli, it's understandable that they would want to put the record straight. The problem is that it's not going to help us get anything back for him when he goes.

Interesting read about Balotelli and his efforts in training and general approach to being a Liverpool player. For those saying he didnt get a fair chance or that Rodgers shouldnt have bannished him from training with the first team this pre season. You can understand why.

I've got no idea. Its been posted by a few Liverpool acounts on Twitter.
A few of the people who are decent follows have said its just the tip of the iceberg. Sunny made a similar remark about not training in the rain aswell.

Edit, It was a piece in the Independent. He's football writer for the Guardian and Independent.

Interesting that we trash Sterling for wanting to leave and having no loyalty and yet the clubs treatment of Balotelli tells you all you need to know about loyalty the other way.

Game changed. Business with assets. No love. No loyalty.
No one, NO ONE cares with the exception of us. The fans.

I dont think its too far removed from the fans no longer caring.

Won't be long until some fans actually want there own team to get beat so the manager gets the heave ho.

Don't think that first para.stands up TBH, Oncy. No-one was ever going to be exactly happy that Sterling wanted out, but the real reason why he attracted such an avalanche of stick was the way the self-absorbed little oaf set about forcing his way out. As for Balotelli, what "loyalty" could he expect after repeatedly behaving as described in that article by Simon Hughes a few posts above this one? I happen to think that fundamentally he's both a nicer and a more intelligent guy than Sterling, but Rodgers and the club cannot sensibly be blamed for finally losing patience with such a catalogue of immaturity.

Agree with the rest of your post. Bubbles do tend to burst and I can see the football version doing so, perhaps sooner than we expect.

I would have thought that the club would have been expecting such hijinks with Mario given his track record. So it was either a choice to put up with it or just don't sign him in the first place.

I agree we shouldn't have signed him. I don't agree with "put up with it". He was signed after a face-to-face meeting with Rodgers in which he promised to get a grip on his behaviour. The guy's a grown man and the club was 100% entitled to expect him to keep his word and behave professionally.

True, but at the time even Rodgers was saying it was a risk. I thought it was a risk worth it the time.
