The Pool Supervisor

"I would say this - I've been working here for 18 years, and in 1975 no-one died. In 1976, no-one died. In 1977, no-one died. In 1978, no-one died. In 1979, no-one died. In 1980... someone died. In 1981, no-one died. In 1982 there was the incident with the pigeon. In 1983, no-one died. In 1984, no-one died. In 1985, no-one died. In 1986... I mean, I could go on."

This is who Bilko reminds me of.

David Ngog - club form 62 games, 15 goals ~ 1 goal per 4.83 games
Carlton Cole - club form: 217 games, 48 goals ~ 1 goal per 4.52 games

Not much in it.

Well yes. The only thing I can see is that Ngog is 21 and can still get better and has shown brief signs of improvement. End of the day, yes Ngog is not good enough and Carlton Cole certainly isn't

Mario Gomez in Liverpool supposedly.
Germany international Mario Gomez's wage demands have ended hopes of a loan switch to Liverpool.

The Bayern Munich striker was considering a switch to Anfield after finding himself behind compatriots Thomas Muller and Miroslav Klose as well as Ivica Olic in the pecking order at the Allianz Arena.

Gomez, 25, is understood to have priced himself out of a move to Liverpool with wage demands of £125,000-a-week, prompting Roy Hodgson to make a move for West Ham's Carlton Cole as he aims to bolster his attacking options before the transfer window shuts.

Uli Ferber, Gomez's agent, had previously claimed that the Reds' interest could not be "pushed off the table" but Christian Nerlinger, Bayern's sporting director insists that no players will be leaving the club as Louis van Gaal looks to retain the Bundesliga title.

He said: "Bayern Munich are not a superstore for other clubs to come and help themselves to players.

"No player will be leaving and they will certainly not be leaving on loan."

Although I must admit that if I was given the choice between Eggnog and Cole in the team (or on the bench), I'd go for Cole.

He's still shit, though. As is Pavlyuchenko.

15 in 62 for a 21 year old playing in the Premiership & Europe is not bad at all.

Selling Babel to Spurs is just stupid. Loaning or selling him to WH is another matter.

We have apperantly made a 9 mill £ for Carlton Cole.

Apart from the fact that such a small number of those goals/games were actually in the Premiership.....

I'd give my right bollock for a secret citing signing.
Arshavin to Arsenal and Berbatov to Man Utd spring to mind (timing wise)

Ain't going to happen - just another sequential transfer window of negative spend which will continue till our owners go.

Cole has improved markedly over the last two seasons. N'gog has improved, but you and I both know he'll never be good enough.

League stats for the last two seasons:

Cole = 22 goals in 57 games
N'gog = 7 goals in 38 games

I'm not advocating Cole (as much as it may look like it) but as depressing as it is, he is a significant improvement on what we have.

They were all in the league and only a third the games were starts. His stats in Europe are much better. 6 in 9 starts.

Oh shit yeah you're right. 8 in the league.

Babel is staying.
really?

Coles league form is around 1 in 5. Oh, and when he went to a half decent team - Aston Villa he scored 3 in 30 games.
