Rumoured Team

James Pearce's #LFC XI v Arsenal: Mignolet - Clyne, Lovren, Klavan, Moreno - Can, Henderson - Coutinho - Mané, Lallana, Firmino. (4-3-3)

That's not good enough. Apart from Mane, there's no genuine goal threat or pace.

I'd play Wijnaldum.

How is he an unknown entity ?

There's nothing mysterious about Klopp's system - and we know Ings will fit in fine.

Whether he's fit enough is the question
Klopp thinks different..

He sees his 3 Strikers as Sturridge, Firmino and Origi..

Ings is 4th choice... And judging by Klopps recent comments, sadly he looks like he is on his way out..

[article]“Benteke, Balotelli, Ings, all the other strikers… they are really good strikers,” Klopp began, reported in the Echo.

“But at the end, having six strikers is a little too much, but is still possible.

“If we make presents because we have ‘too many strikers’, that’s the biggest mistake.

“Until August 31, I could change my mind. I’m not that type of guy but I could. We will see what happens.”

The fact Klopp has name-dropped the 24-year-old Englishman along with Benteke and Balotelli – who the whole of Europe knows are up for sale – is damning – in truth.

Ings spent almost the entirety of last season fighting to get fit following his ruptured ACL, but the way Klopp’s used him during pre-season has also been indicative of the fact he won’t be first-choice. When deployed, Ings has been with the second-choice XIs, instead of alongside guaranteed first-teamers like Coutinho, Sadio Mane and the like.

Balotelli and Benteke will almost certainly leave, but it’ll likely be a wait to see if Ings is willing to wait for an opportunity. Without Europe, his chances of minutes rely on the injuries of those ahead of him.. [/Article]

A few things make me think we'll dick Arsenal:

1) We have a much better group of players to play a pressing game
2) When we've started mentally quick against them we normally win
3) For some reason I think Arsenal keep losing on the opening day?
4) There's a general air of despondency around their club.

What a genius of a player Barnes was.
Wonder how many assists he would have had if they actually counted back then.

It will be like this from the opening day of 87/88, as will the season that follows:

What a header from my hero Stevie Nicol

Scaringly I think that team player by player are better than the current team in each position. Maybe Clyne can take a place ahead of venison and maybe Coutinho edge pass Johnston.... For Arsenal however I think they have several players today that would make that team.

Arsenal have no fit centre halves, no pace through the middle at the back, and Giroud and a couple of others are still away after the world cup. I have never felt happier playing them away.

I can buy that. Although one other fact stops me:

1) Arsenal are better than us every fucking season.

Combined with they always do us at their place. Our away record to Arsenal is shocking.

That said, I'm quietly confident with this one. We have to be fitter than anyone and they have some injuries. We'll win 1-2.

1-3. The fact every sky pundit has tipped arsenal or a draw makes me think we'll win.

Every year United, City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs are 'shit' or have an aging squad or whatever. And yet we almost always seem to finish below them. It's mystifying.

I've been watching loads of journalists basically saying we've got no chance etc etc....

And it really isn't my style to be optimistic but...

I'm not massively concerned with the result tomorrow, Arsenal do have home advantage... I'm just convinced we are gonna fucking win the fucking league this season... I can just sense it... We've bought well and have replaced our genuine millstone of a goalkeeper and don't have to play on fucking Thursday's ... I got a feeling we've got a really really big shout this year.

It would be fucking lovely if we turn up at Arsenal and fucking destroy them.

I do feel good about the league this year, I don't think we'll win it, or even come close, but I'm quite confident we're going to impress a lot of people, and tonk a fair few big sides, a top four finish is ours if we want it.

That was a season we started with 3 away games - due to work on the Kop. First game away to Arsenal and we went on to play the most dazzling standard of football - so good that the 10 goals in Match of the Day's Goal of the Season were all Liverpool goals.

Getting proper excited about this. The nerves are going. In bed now, should be relaxing but just waiting for the season to kick off.

Let's do these cunts.
