i think we'll do them, but, it's still Arsenal and they're always tough to beat, so it'll be close. 1-2

What I think it'll be:

Mig

Clyne
Lovren
Klavan
Moreno (wipes away tears)

Can
Hendo
Lallana

Mane
Phil
Firmino

Anyone else nervous about this game ? Arsenal have not bought much in transfers but will have a team that knows each other very well. We have quite a few new faces so in that respect worried we may be disjointed and slow decision makers. Cannot call this one at all.

Never not nervous for a Liverpool game. It's horrible. Especially away games like this at Arsenal and United Chelsea City. It becomes that bit more daunting and we've seen too many shithouse displays at the Emirates and Old Trafford etc over the years so that's always in the back of your mind.
That said, I nearly always fancy us at home against anyone.

Moreno doesn't fill me with confidence either, but didn't we beat Chelsea, Man City and Arsenal last season with Moreno in the side? I would be concerned if he has no long-term replacement/competition, but a prospect of a few games with him in the starting 11 shouldn't fill us with dread. Arsenal will be playing two kids at CB for fucks sake.

Fair point, but the worry is he's become a far more vulnerable defender since then and his confidence is shot. Not to mention he's a bigger target for the opposition.

I'm just done with Moreno but if he plays he plays and here's hoping he can have a solid game.

It's true, he kind of regressed defensively towards the end of the season. Or maybe teams started targeting him more.

Rumoured Team

James Pearce's #LFC XI v Arsenal: Mignolet - Clyne, Lovren, Klavan, Moreno - Can, Henderson - Coutinho - Mané, Lallana, Firmino. (4-3-3)

If it's anything like last week he'll bring him on at half time and we'll score another three

Seems reasonable. The only doubt for me is Origi vs Lallana.

Origi has to start surely. Even if he's not fully fit, just take him off after 60 mins. Im not a fan of firmino as the main striker at all. think he's better in a deeper role.

If he is not fully fit.. he will be better from the bench imho..

He will give a flaky Arsenals defence something else to think about when he does come on..

I'd start Firmino if he is fully fit.. with the pace of Mane on the wing and Coutinho playing behind with the trickery of Lallana, we will be just fine..

We need decent options from the bench with an injured Studge... and a 85% fit Origi is certainly that..

Is it too early for Ings to play a part ?

Unknown entity in Klopps system I guess.. an Option from the bench.. definitely

I'd certainly start him in the League Cup, though I am not so sure in Such a big game so early in the Season, after the massive lay off he has had...

How is he an unknown entity ?

There's nothing mysterious about Klopp's system - and we know Ings will fit in fine.

Whether he's fit enough is the question

He still looks a bit off fitness wise. Will take a bit longer for him to get back I reckon after that injury.

It would be a more attacking team with Origi instead of Firmino in the middle...but I guess the above front 4 can cause Arsenal some trouble.
