It's hard to know what to do with Origi.

You know you need better but then he goes and wins you a game like this.

should he be playing on the left though? He scored both from very central positions, would he fare better playing as the main striker?

Yep. he is clearly far more dangerous in the centre. I don't even remember seeing him there with Firmino missing. Klopp usually pushes him wide left doesn't he.

I thinik we have to be careful with VDBerg. Hes a young lad, new country first proper big game he has had, and with all the pressures of having to replace VVD and the not lost at home Anfield record it a lot pschologically to carry. It looked like he was weighed down by some of that and it affected his ball playing technique and his awareness anticipate, general judgements of situations. Hopefully us wining will help his ability to progress. I hope this young team can lay in the next round, even if they get beat by Villa, think its good for them to get exposure and knowing them they probably can beat Villa.

Not to burst your bubble but he's hasn't played well for the u23s either. Well considering what we paid anyway...

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp says his side will not be able to play their Carabao Cup quarter-final if the fixture cannot be rearranged to avoid a clash with the Fifa Club World Cup.
Liverpool beat Arsenal on penalties in the fourth round on Wednesday.
The quarter-finals are due to be played the week commencing 16 December but Liverpool play in the last four of the Club World Cup in Qatar on 18 December.
The EFL say they are in talks with the Reds to identify an alternative date.
Liverpool have been drawn to play Aston Villa away in the last eight.
"If they don't find a place for us, an appropriate place, not 3am on Christmas Day, then we don't play it," said Klopp.
"You have to think about these things. If you have a fixture list where one team cannot be part of all the games, then you have to think about it. Hopefully it starts at one point, hopefully it starts now.
"We will not be the victim of this problem. We played [on Wednesday] and we wanted to win. If they don't find a proper date for us then we cannot play the next round and whoever is our opponent will go through - or Arsenal will play it. I cannot change that."
The Club World Cup is held every December and features seven teams from six confederations and Liverpool have qualified courtesy of winning last year's Champions League.
Fifa was "looking forward to welcoming Liverpool in Qatar" for the competition, said a spokesman.
Liverpool are already scheduled to play seven games in December, plus the Carabao Cup quarter-final and either a third-fourth play-off or the final of the Club World Cup on 21 December.
With no midweek slots available in 2019 other than during international breaks, the next feasible opportunity to play midweek - when they will not be competing in the Premier League - will be between fixtures on 11 January and 19 January. But the first legs of the semi-finals are scheduled to be played in the week of 6 January.
Liverpool were due to play West Ham on 20 December in the Premier League and that game is yet to be rearranged.

Like Klopp the CWC is more important than this Meh of a cup.

I'm not at all sure that's the reason why he seems to be prioritising the FIFA pot. We'd be sanctioned, probably quite heavily, if we didn't turn up for that. Neither matters a hoot AFAIC but if I had to choose I'd put the Carabao Cup ahead of the other one, as it would give last night's team another chance to get game time.

When do we actually fly out to Qatar? 16th December right?

& the set dates for the QF's were planned on 17-18th? So we know for sure that's not going to work.

The EFL won't be able to move back both the SF and Final dates so the only possibility is the home game against Watford on 14th gets postponed to next year while we
get this fixture out the way.

From the 2nd-11th Jan we don't play, so move the Watford game to Sat-Sun 4/5th

I think Klopp explained his point of view much clearer in this interview

[article]“They have to find a proper solution or no solution. That’s how it is, it’s easy. They cannot do what they want with us. They set up all the games, FIFA wants us to play the Club World Cup and if we don’t go this and that happens so we go. And now with the Carabao Cup, we will not go out of the Carabao Cup because nobody finds a date for us – so they have to. That’s how it is and we cannot change that. If nobody plans things how can something like that happen? In 2019 you set up a competition in which one specific team goes through, who was successful last year, you find no date, that only shows us that the fixtures list is just crazy – that you don’t have time for something like this. That’s the moment when everyone has to start thinking about this. I’m happy that we are in the next round, if they don’t find a proper date for us to play, then Arsenal can play. I don’t know how to say this but nobody can push us around like they want. We are a very ambitious football club but things have to be done in the right way,” Klopp explained.[/article]

We will 100% play the kids/ ressies again in the next fixture, and they did just enough to earn it. Though I'd think seriously about replacing the ginger dutch kid.
The Dyson fella will be back for the next game.. Which is looking likely to be in January..

He was on international duty last night with the under 19s or something..

They'll move the semi finals back. Looking at the fixture list I can't see any other viable solution.

Ra-ra-Rasputin! Give me some Ra-ra-raAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTIIIIIIIiiiiitings!

That was totes insane! As the kids would say! (OK Boomer).

Not sure how much Klopp was arsed, but the noisy Anfield crowd certainly was and what a great game for all the kids, wools and whoever else to watch. Amazing drama, and it was great to see so many of our young players experience what an old school Liverpool get-out-of-jail-last-minute-rescue -job-win-on-penalties game is like.
THIS IS WHAT WE DO (and why so many other fans hate our fucking guts)

Kelleher (6) Extra point for for the amazing penno save. He was fault for two goals, and is maybe too short to make it if we're being honest, but what a night for the lad! Even if he did concede 5 goals...

Williams (6) Awful name, decent display. Looked raw at times - quelle surprise - and I'm not sure he has the pace to succeed at RB, but he kept plugging away and deserved his moment of glory when he crossed for the Big Div to equalise.

Van der Berg (4) Dreadful first half, he looked slow and lacked awareness and positional sense. Improved, but not enough. I know there's a load of people going on about him being only 17, but if you ascribe to the maxim "if you're good enough, you're old enough" you should probably shut the fuck up, 'cos he wasn't.

Gomez (5) Used that splendid turn of pace a few times, but simply didn't step up to organise a callow defence and was distracted in his passing too.

Milner (6) Solid enough, and nerveless as ever from the spot, but he gets a point knocked off for that horribly under-hit pass that cost us a goal.

Keita (3) Massive shithouse display. Again. Does step overs and short passes when it it doesn't really count, and then when it gets on top, he shrinks like a wooly jumper washed at 90 degrees. Fucking dreadful, and cried off injured yet again.

Chamberlain (6) Keep having to give him extra points for goals! And this was another belter! Was mediocre otherwise, he looks totally braindead in possession at times, and gave the ball away too often. But when you need some bone-headed explosive "fuck you!" shooting, he's yer man

Lallana (4) Haha. Busquets. Haha. Couple of nice passes, but defensively a disaster and got robbed TWICE while trying his signature move in his own half. Goodbye.

Elliot (6) Invisible first half, and horrible pass for one of Arsenal's 5 (five) goals, but never gave up and won the pelanty with a typical driving run. Promising

Brewster (5) Better than his last outing, and kept working hard, but he never once looked like scoring, even if he did get better as the game went on. But he's nowhere near good enough to start for us.

Origi (7) Christ, he was shocking at times in the first half especially. He seems to think he's got the skill and touch of a player like Suarez sometimes, despite quite obviously not anywhere near as gifted. Fucked up an easy header, gave the ball away, then scored two vital goals out of nowhere. Peak Divock.

What part, mate? My sis lives in Meelick.
Corofin .. North Clare.

Meelick is down by Limerick, in the south, where the weather is better on account of being closer to the equator.

Unless you mean Meelick in Co Galway, which isn't actually in Clare, on account of being in Galway

I'd prefer to win the CWC to be honest because we've never won it, and we would have the title of World Champions.

As far as tabloid sub-editors are concerned maybe, but it would mean bugger all. It's a pointless showpiece whose sole purpose is to line FIFA's coffers.

Oh yeah, I agree completely. But the League Cup barely means much more and we've won that a bunch of times, but never the Club World thingy. I just want to be able to say we've won everything.

Can we be sanctioned? What happened when Man United didn't play in the FA Cup?

I've spoke to two mates who went the match now, & listened to the post match podcasts, & everyone who went the game think Brewster was good, bar his final product.

Makes me wonder if he did a helluva lot of work off the ball that we couldn't see on telly.
