has he gone yet?
Yeah, he's at Juve already!

Sky Italia reports Aquilani loan to Juve dragging on... whole battery of medicals today, Juve not yet satisfied... more tests tomorrow

£13M?

That's bad.

I mean, given the circumstances I suppose it's as good as we could have hoped for, perhaps even better, but it's still bad

Alberto Aquilani has apparently passed a truly marathon medical at Juventus, which lasted six hours.

Juventus wanted to avoid a situation similar to that of Jorge Andrade, the Portuguese centre-back, whose contract had to be rescinded on account of his physical problems.

Tuttosport cites one of Juventus' medical staff as saying: “The cartilage of the ankle and the knee is perfect and he has also recovered from a muscle tear to the thigh.â€

The 25-year-old midfielder is now expected to sign a contract, which confirms his move on loan from Liverpool.

Juventus will have the option to sign him on a permanent basis next summer for a fee thought to be around €16m.

Aquilani joins Milos Krasic, Jorge Martinez, Leonardo Bonucci, Marco Motta and Marco Storari as Juventus' new arrivals in pre-season.

X-rays have shown up a anomaly in the spinal region

One missing you mean?

I'd say Rafa is quaking in his well supported size 9s when he sees this move.
Congrats Rafa on your Seria-A league winners medal.
Even Roma didn't want the fairy back.

16m euros. Holy fuck. Let's hope we've put a clause in about other bids coming in & he does well.

In his last two seasons here rafa really did a number on this team. Shame cos it's seemingly irreversible damage, at least under the current ownership.

I cant believe that having watched that fucking shambles last night ANYONE would be happy to see a creative player leave. We might still have shipped 3 with Aquilani in the team but we may have scored a couple too.

Of course we need creative players, but they have to be willing and able to perform in our side and in English football generally. As others have said, two (very different) managers have now been unable to trust Aquilani to do those things.
Both of whom think Lucas is an answer at cm. I'd take my chances with the Aquaman regardless of the experienced opinion thanks.

It truely is a daming indicement of aqualini that as you say two seasoned and expeirenced managers trust Lucas over him.

I'm not sure yet what Roy thinks about Lucas. He wouldn't have played on Mon.night if Masher hadn't thrown a hissy fit.
He picked him ahead of poulsen. Look I'm not slagging Roy off, but how you can defend sending a 20m cm out on loan and sticking with Lucas is beyond me.

I can only assume there's more o it than simple footballing reasons. Perhaps he's not putting the effort in or is pissed off here, in which case this makes sense.

Does anyone know exactly how much we ACTUALLY paid for him?
Surely with not only his past injury record but the one he had when he signed for LFC, there must have been tons of appearance and performance based clauses in the transfer fee.
Could 16m euros possibly mean we at least break even?

Selling might 'make sense'.

Nothing justifies sending a £20M player out on loan when you've got no money and a piss-weak squad.

£19M was the very least we had to pay.

It rose to £21M or £22M if we won the CL and Premier League (Haha)

stop all the bleating about sending a '£20m player out on loand", the truth is we sent a "fucking lightweight pussy" out on loan.

He's been busting a gut at Juve to tell everybody in sight how happy he is to be there, saying things like "Even though I haven't played here before, it feels like coming home". I reckon it's a pretty safe bet that he is indeed pissed off at LFC/in England.

I think he's bottled playing a few games when he could have, but besides all that, I think we want him off the wage bill.

I don't think it's that simple. Juve have agreed to pay the whole of his wages, which at minimum is a sizeable drop in expenditure for at least this season and/or frees that money for use elsewhere. It may well also be the best way ultimately to sell the guy for a reasonable fee, a fee we wouldn't have got anywhere near if we flogged him off in a hurry now, given (a) his "career" in the Prem and (b) the fact that everybody knows how badly we need the cash.
