Aquilani To Leave On Loan

Clearly another signing Benitez didn't do his homework on.

£20 fucking million!

Ouch

I'm well pissed off. I mean we have zero creativity, at least he passed the ball forward.
Yep, the only wrinkle could potentially be if his signing fee included some additional payments that kick in which are performance/game related, and we are just penny pinching.

His, alledgedely, £70,000 per week salary (£3.7M a year) may be a factor too.

Less than a month ago the agent was singing Hodgson's praises as he'd said Aquilani had a future at Liverpool. Odd that Hodgson seems to have changed his mind so soon. I wonder what's happened?

Could this indicate that Pachecho is actually closer the starting XI than we would've thought?

It's Gerrard and Poulsen in DM with Lucas as back-up and Cole in AM with Pacheco as backup.

We need one more if Aqua's indeed fluid.

Him I forgot. We need a new player no matter how we address this issue mind if both Kuyt and Aqua leaves alongside Masher. Besides the LB and back-up striker.

That would be horrible! We can´t lose Mascherano, Kuyt and Aquilani now. It will be impossible to replace them before the transfer window closes and it would mean too many changes. Lucas and Insua on the other hand...

I can't see masch going, who will buy him? Inter have already spent a fair bit of the balotelli money. And apparently they are skint to and Barcelona don't want him.

I won't be able to be that confident until the transfer window has closed. I can just see us losing players on the last day, particularly to Inter. We know how disorganised Benitez is in the transfer market. He used to dither when he was here and he will probably do the same there and I just hope it won't still be at our expense

We'll only sell if Roy's got the replacements ready. That's the only way it'll happen I'm positive.

As always a lot of pieces in the jigsaw needs to fall in place when clubs are selling and buying players on the market, and the current financial climate has made this more evident than ever.

I've been saying all summer that Aquilani doesn't fit into many of our first elevens and that's hardly a ringing endorsement of a twenty million pound player.

That coupled with the rumours of him being a poor trainer leave me feeling angry and frustrated.

I still don't want to see him go out on loan though. It's bloody stupid.

Got this off another site? Would be a lot better than a loan.

Saying Alberto Aquilani to juve for 17-18 million Euros ..

twist for Juve, who wants to score a blow to the midfield. Given the difficulties to get to Ledesma, the dg Marotta turns on former Roma midfielder Alberto Aquilani, who arrived in Liverpool for a year. His agent Franco Zavaglia has flown in the day to discuss the bid with Juventus the Reds. Last year it cost about 20 million euros plus bonus, Juve would rather not go beyond 17 to 18 million euros. As learned from the director of TMW Michael Criscitiello, Zavaglia flew to Liverpool to close the deal in a few hours Aquilani. During the day we will all updates on this story.

It'd take that.

Who'd we get as a replacement though? I'd look for someone in the Cole mould rather than a CM i think.

i'd buy a player we actually need, such as a winger, striker, or left back. cole, gerrard and pacheco are enough for the hole.

Well, i'd say it's pretty clear that Gerrard is going to play deeper, so that's just cole & Pacheco.

I'd look for someone who is an able deputy for Torres but could also play in the hole.

Go for Toivanen as back up if this happens. Pacheco can play in the Europa league (if we get there). Toivanen can play as lone striker as well.

If we get offered a decent sum, I'd sell.
I hate this but it's better than a loan.
Roy has decided that he is surplus to requirements, which is stupid I guess.
This move will only be good if Aquaman is replaced with someone better. We've been linked to world class players like Luke Young, Peter Crouch, Carlton Cole and Paul Konchesky so he's probably getting Danny Murphy, David Dunn, Mark Noble or Scott Parker to fill Aquilani's spot.
We're slowly turning into Everton.

possibly you're right. that swede we're interested in can play both roles if i'm not mistaken. i just don't see the hole being a position we'd need to strengthen, even if we sold aquilani, who's basically just a spare part. we'd be better off covering the more pressing areas in the squad - even if gerrard is playing deeper that doesn't mean he can't cover for cole when needed.

The fact he couldn't get on the bench against Arsenal at home says a lot. I wish he had worked out but he didn't, as many predicted. I'd be surprised if we're not looking at a massive hit on this one.

Gerrard in the hole = Mascherano and/or Lucas/Poulsen at cm = we need cover!

So 442 is the way to go.

So we go from chosing between Javier MAscherano, Steven Gerrard and Xabi Alonso as well as the prospect of Alberto Aquilani finding his fitness (He is actually a very very fine footballer) to get to choose from Lucas, Christian Poulsen and Stevie in 2 seasons. And people ask why we are were we are? it is fucking ridicoulus. How can well paid managers not see how important the engine room is for every team? WHat is it with Lucas??? Is he running a lot in training or something. I just cant get it. What does fine managers see in the shit fucking cunt???? He can not pass the ball and he is poor at winning it back.

I hope the sale happens, but why would Roy come out yesterday and say he's going on loan?
He must be desperate to get him off his wage bill. Juve will not pay over the odds for him. And in a Poulsen out for 6 mill and Aquilani in for free the have done even better than our Cole vs Yossi swap!
