Momo always seemed to be brilliant without the ball and terrible with it.

He was never the same after that eye injury.

He was absolutely brilliant at breaking up attacks.

His difficulty was distinguishing between theirs and ours

Hahaha that's a pretty spot-on assessment mate.

Liverpool’s Italian midfielder Alberto Aquilani, currently on loan to Juventus, is reportedly considering a shock move to Russian outfit Zenit St. Petersburg after Juventus turned down Liverpool’s asking price of €16.5 million.

Zenit St Peterburg manager Luciano Spalletti has worked with Aquilani before, when both were at Roma in 2005-2009. Aquilani then moved to Liverpool in 2009. The manager is hoping he can coax the 26 year old to a move across Europe.

St Petersburg are currently the defending champions in the Russian Premier League, and would be able to offer Aquilani possible Champions League qualification should he choose to head from Liverpool to the side.

The top flight Russian side would also easily be able to raise the money that Liverpool has demanded for Aquilani’s services, with backing from international conglomerate Gazprom.

Question is whether he'll want to go to sunny Russia if he can't stay in Italy. I really hope another Italian club comes in for the lad and makes an acceptable offer, because it's pretty clear that anything else will be very much second best as far as he's concerned.

Alberto Aquilani’s agent is confident that Juventus won’t let the player slip through their fingers during the summer.

The midfielder’s future in Turin is in some doubt given that the €16m buy-out clause is a little steep for a club who will probably not qualify for the Champions League.

There has been speculation that Juve will try to get Liverpool to accept a smaller figure or attempt to renew his loan for another season.

However, Franco Zavaglia has told Radio Mana Mana that he believes his client will sign for the Old Lady.

“At the end of the day, I don’t think that there will be any problems,†the representative noted. “I don’t think Aquilani will leave Turin.

“Juventus have until June 30 to take up their option to sign Aquilani – all they have to do is make their move.

“It’s possible that they’ll try to get a discount, that’s part of the game, but all of the details were sorted out last summer.â€

Aquilani, along with the side in general, has struggled to perform in 2011 after a reasonably promising first half of the campaign.

So it was decided last summer that Aquilani wouldn't play for liverpool again?

Well, the price was fixed at a level both clubs were willing to accept, and Aquilani was always going to go if that price was paid.

AQUILANI WILL COST £14M

Juventus will have to pay Liverpool a fee of €16million (£14m) if they want to sign Alberto Aquilani on a permanent basis, according to the Italian's agent.

The 26-year-old is nearing the end of his season-long loan with Juventus, but a to-buy option was included in the deal and his representative, Franco Zavaglia, is negotiating the future.

After a £20m move to Liverpool from Roma in 2009, Aquilani struggled with injuries in his debut Premier League campaign and it was decided last summer, when Roy Hodgson was in charge of the English club, that a temporary return to Italy would be beneficial.

Aquilani has enjoyed his time with Juventus, who are understood to want to keep the creative midfielder, but Zavaglia is not 100 per cent certain that an agreed fee will be paid to Liverpool before a 30th June deadline.

"The agreement between Liverpool and Juventus is already there. It all depends on the willingness of Juventus," Zavaglia told Radio Mana Mana.

He continued: "Maybe Juventus want to save something and Liverpool do not want to lose anything.

"But there is an expiration date, everything is organised.

"I think Aquilani will stay at Juventus and there will not be any obstacles."

It has been suggested that Roma will attempt to re-sign Aquilani in the summer, but Zavaglia thinks this is unlikely.

He said: "I don't think it is possible, but in football anything is possible."

I dont think aquilani got a real chance in the premiership for us and was cast out on loan too soon and made his appearances for us under difficult circumstances. He would without dount be a different player under King Kenny!

On-loan Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani is likely to sign a permanent deal with Juventus at the end of the season, according to the player's agent.

The Italy international was allowed to return to Serie A by former Reds boss Roy Hodgson last August after just one injury-afflicted season in the Barclays Premier League.

And Aquilani's representative Franco Zavaglia has suggested his client is ready to extend his stay in Turin this summer despite being linked with former club Roma.

"Aquilani to Roma? That will be difficult. Juve has the priority and I don't think they will let him escape," he told Italian broadcaster Radio Mana Mana.

"On June 30 Juventus will be able to buy Aquilani and they should act now.

"They could sign him by making three to four delayed payments, a system which was established last summer.

"The agreement between Liverpool and Juventus is already there, it all depends on the willingness of Juventus.

"I think Aquilani will stay at Juventus and there will not be any obstacles."

Ac Milan are reportedly ready to meet Liverpool’s asking price for want-away star Alberto Aquilani according to Italian reports. The 26 year old has been on a season long loan spell at Juventus but the Turin outfit are unwilling to meet the player’s valuation which has let in the San Siro side who appear more than willing to splash the cash on the in form midfielder.

Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish was apparently more than happy to welcome Alberto Aquilani back to Anfield but the former Roma man was keen to remain in Italy after a consistent season in Serie A helped to force him back into the international set-up.

Rafa Benitez purchased Aquilani for a fee of £20m, with significant portions of that fee dependent on meeting appearance goals that were not met, and a move back to Italy may be best for all parties. The return of Dalglish has led to a vast improvement from the likes of Lucas, Raul Meireles and Dirk Kuyt and this in turn has meant that Dalglish could afford to cash in on the Italian international.

Aquilani is thought to have been keen on making his temporary move to Juventus a permanent one but will surely be very interested in a move to Ac Milan, who are closing in on their first Serie A title in seven years. Liverpool will then in turn look to use funds made from the sale to continue their squad re-building having already brought in the likes of Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll in January.

My spies in the Juve supporters' camp don't believe this. They think it's most likely a ploy by Aquilani's agent to try and break the apparent logjam over the fee.

On the other hand, AC Milan do need a successor to Pirlo...

True. It's possible that my relatives are indulging in some wishful thinking, as they rate Aquilani and don't want to lose him.

Apparently AC Milan also want a season long loan first before buying him.

Just recall him because he's been in great form for Juve and we'll get a buyer.

I would like Kenny to run the rule over him in a few games and make a decision. There's no haste.

Juventus may have as much as €100m to spend on strengthening the squad during the summer, reports claim.

Both La Gazzetta dello Sport and the Corriere dello Sport have splashed that figure on their front pages this morning after the comments of John Elkann.

The latter, the President of Juventus’ holding company Exor, has claimed that he is ready to pump fresh funds into the club if that is necessary.

Exor reportedly have around €60m for the Old Lady of Italian football after another disappointing campaign.

The club are also expected to have a further €25m at their disposal from funds linked with the new stadium project.

And finally the outfit are set to raise around €15m over the summer in player sales and wage reductions.

That, in theory, could give the Turin giants a three-figure sum to throw at new players once the transfer window opens.

Director general Beppe Marotta has already publicly claimed that his plans for the summer are to buy two or three star names.

However, it remains to be seen whether the club will actually have the €100m figure solely for new faces.

The club are expected to post losses close to €60m, partly due to the fact that they did not qualify for the Champions League this season, and may need to offset some of that.

Next term’s likely absence from Europe’s premier competition is also likely to substantially affect revenue.

Haha, try haggling the price down now, you old lady, you!

I had an inkling this might happen....especially with Pirlo out the gap in the summer!!

Juve: 'We won't buy Aquilani'

Juventus director general has confirmed “we will not sign Alberto Aquilani for the sum set by Liverpool.â€

The player has been in Turin all season on loan and the £16m buy-out clause was agreed last summer.

However, the Bianconeri are openly haggling to receive a discount to make his move permanent.

“There is a buy-out clause that has to be activated by May 15,†explained Marotta to Sky Sport Italia.

“We’ll try to reach an agreement before the deadline. I can certainly say we will not sign Aquilani for the sum set by Liverpool.â€

It remains to be seen whether Liverpool will be willing to negotiate over the price-tag when it was part of the deal only 12 months ago.

Aquilani has been linked with other Serie A sides, above all Milan, for next season if Juventus don’t keep hold of him.

Meanwhile, Marotta also commented on the fact Alessandro Del Piero’s contract expires on June 30.

“There is a gentleman’s agreement between Del Piero and President Andrea Agnelli, so for me the matter isclosed.â€

Firstly I don't think the price is £16m , i think it's €16m which was £13m at the time . But that aside , if these quotes are true then I hope we tell them to fuck off...they agreed a price or at least accepted it in the contract yet now are trying to get him on the cheap despite him actually playing well for them .

I don't know ....i personally don't think he has the balls to play in the premiership , he looks like he's about to cry from fear when he steps on a pitch here but if they're taking the piss lets try flog him somewhere else.

Thought AC Milan and Zenit were interested?

We should be saying "of course you don't have to pay the agreed price, it's gone up"...

Hope we show some spine on this one.
