Aquilani isn't joining Milan, bet that

We should just keep him in the squad. If its true that ac Milan are getting him for 1m and 50/50 on wages, then we're better off keeping him here.

According to Sky Italia, he's going to be loaned out again to AC Milan with an obligatory buy-out clause set at €1 million. 50/50 wages

Alberto Aquilani’s future remains in the balance, as there are reports Liverpool will renew his loan to Milan at a cheaper rate.

The midfielder spent this season at San Siro with an option to buy out permanently if he managed a certain number of appearances.

As he did not hit that mark, the Italian international has returned to Anfield and is eager to get straight back into Serie A.

It has been reported that Aquilani is in negotiations to terminate his contract two years early at a cost to Liverpool of €3.5m.

However, Sky Sport Italia suggest there is another option on the table that will see Liverpool renew the one-year loan to Milan.

Liverpool would also pay half of his wages for the campaign and put in place another clause making the permanent move obligatory if he hits the target of appearances.

The buy-out clause would be a mere €1m compared to the €7m discussed a year ago.

Former Roma star Aquilani joined Liverpool in 2009 for £17m.

I hold Downing as the worst transfer ever because he was expensive and is undoubtedly poor. 0 goals 0 assists.
Aquilani wasn't terrible and I do think some of the blame has to be put on the club. Hodgson threw him out for Cole and Kenny did the same for Adam and Gerrard, that's what I believe anyway.

Did he throw a tantrum when he came back last pre-season?
No, he went about his business and outperformed our entire midfield.
I somehow don't blame him for not wanting to come back.

And please don't say that he didn't want to stay back then, because several people with insight in this matter said the opposite, Comolli, Aquilani's agent, his father and himself.

At least he played like he wanted to stay. 2nd worst transfer ever.

Sometimes I feel sorry for you on account of the abuse you get on here. Then you go and post something like this.

Liverpool FC manager Brendan Rodgers will decide Alberto Aquilani's fate says agent
Jun 19 2012

Alberto Aquilani's future will be decided by new Liverpool FC manager Brendan Rodgers, the player’s agent has said.

Liverpool FC midfielder Alberto Aquilani, who is under contract with the Premier League side until June 2014, played on loan at AC Milan this season after failing to impress at Anfield.

"The new Liverpool coach will decide Alberto’s fate," Aquilani’s agent Franco Zavaglia said to an Italian radio station.
"We will have to wait and see what he thinks about the player and whether Alberto will be of any use to the Reds.

"Alberto has a contract at Liverpool for another two years and they will let us know about their intentions soon.
"He would be happy to stay at Liverpool if he was given the right opportunities."

The 27-year-old Alberto Aquilani moved to Liverpool FC in 2009 in a £20 million transfer deal from Roma.
He endured a disappointing spell at Anfield before being loaned to Juventus in the 2010/11 campaign.
Juve opted not to exercise the option to acquire Aquilani’s sporting rights for a reported eight million euros last summer and the player joined AC Milan on a one-year loan deal instead.

Reports in Italy claimed Milan were keen to acquire Aquilani on a permanent transfer provided the player would terminate his contract with Liverpool FC. However, his agent has denied those rumours.

"If Milan had wanted to sign him then they should have made their move sooner," Zavaglia said.
Alberto Aquilani scored one goal in 23 league appearances for the Rossoneri last season.

I'll be like this until that happens.

I don't want this fucker anywhere near the club. Its plain and clear that he doesn't want to be here so fuck off.

20m each on aquilani and keane and downing
18 m on henderson
35m on carroll

bloody hell we are shocking on transfers, asbsolute rubbish.

I hope he stays. I think our new style will be perfectly suited to him. The talent is definitely there, and he's easily better than Adam or Henderson.

Rodgers did say that he rated him really highly.

Staying and staying. He says he'll report for pre season and that no clubs are interested...

In fairness Aquilani has never said anything derogatory, we out him out on loan it suited us.
I think he is a decent player and in the limited cameos he was granted looked better than some if the stuff at our disposal.
I am pleased that Brendan can run the rule over him. We may as well rather than give him away.
The beloved Rafa must have seen something in him.

regards

Fuck it, i'm happy to have him back. He provides excellent movement, is intelligent on the ball and i'm a glutton for punishment. The punishment being Modo and a few other wanking over their keyboards after Alberto shines in a few pre season games.

The idea is always better than the reality.

There are a multitude of footballers all over the world with a great touch and a nice pass. Being able to do that, and influence a game at the top level consistently is another thing though.

And for years on end, with top clubs, FOR WHATEVER FUCKING REASONS, Alberto has never shown any capacity to do that.

He is Anthony Le Tallec with a prettier complexion.

Move on people.

I know you're being dramatic for comedic purposes but he's a bit ahead of ALT in his development. Aqualani has represented his country at senior level with 20 odd caps. I'm happy to wash my hands of him if we got a decent fee but fuck giving him to Milan for free. I'm not even here to stick up for him, I like his style of play but admit he is a shithouse at times.

I see we're on the forum night shit eh?

Worth another go....

If Rodgers can get the side playing football the way he wants to, then we are definitely playing to the strengths of players like Aquilani & Joe Cole ... who both looked out of sorts under previous managers, who's style of play did not suit them.

I'd really like to see Aquilani do well for us ... both times we've sent him out on loan he's done a fantastic job for Juventus & Milan.

So the ability is clearly there.

We haven't always played to the strengths of some of our players .... Suarez shines when he has someone up front with him, looks clueless when he's up top on his own .... Henderson on the right wing makes no sense, he's clearly not a winger ...

The last few years hasn't been the been the best time to become a Liverpool player ... we had the whole Hicks & Gillett bullshit drag on for ages, key players (Alonso, Mascherano, Torres) were sold ... kick & chase football under Hodgson ...

Let's see what Rodgers can do with these players in an improved environment and a more positive approach in how we play the game.
