respect your views. but I passionately believe in expressing yourself in whatever fashion you want so long as you do not incite imminent violence.

don't care if its anti-muslim, anti-jew anti-reason - ideas need to be battled through dialogue not the thought police. once we create limits we slowly give fascists a foothold.

Or people like Anelka should keep their "naïveté" in check when it comes to sport?

If Anelka did this in the street he would be allowed to, the Public Order Act requires intention to be proven. It is only the FA that do not require Anelka to have any intention or be anti-semetic, he just needs to do any random act or say any random word, and so long as the FA can argue that it could be insulting that is the end of it, he gets banned.

Anelka has free speech, just not in his place or work where he has signed a contract to abide by the FA rules and regulations.

the sport argument is a good one - prohibit free speech based on the 'commercial environment' imposing restriction in the stadium under an agreed terms and conditions. i don't like it instinctively but it's a valid argument.

RM - if this is the case, have you noticed the rising extremism in France? From Le Pen to the steadily increasing rates of anti-semitic behavior (French Jews are leaving France non-stop, with one of the most famous cultural icons - Enrico Macias - the latest)? How is this not incitement (not Anelka), but just a gesture? It always starts small when you start with a hateful salute whatever - and it grows ... Then it's much harder to stop.

sure, but how does it grow? banning it, and giving an excuse for morons to imitate as some sort of anti-establishment gesture when the reality is to debate these people until they come across the morons they are.

Obama and co doing the same gesture...

wow where is the fuss about this!!

because its a load of old tosh.

The USA political and banking system has a disproportionate number of dual passport Israels in high positions.
France is in a similar position ...hence their very strong Isreali support.
The best i can see is the quenell is an anti-zionist gesture (a political one) NOT anti-jewish (religous or race based).

I dont like to use anti-semite. Palestinians are semites, sephardic jews(2million population) are generally semites and they make up Many of the world jewish population are of askenazi descent(10-12million) and hence not semites.

ban me for being an anti-semite by saying this.....i care not. i just feel people ought to find out what the meanings of the words they use are
and stop taking the word of the press as gospel.

So - assuming your 'disproportionate number of dual passport Israelis' statement is true, I assume that means we have to go after minorities if they're successful? Or you want to espouse the Elders of Zion bs? Can you give a list of these people from a legitimate site? I'm curious.

Just to help you out - I'm Sephardi. My family was kicked out of Spain for the sin of being a problematic minority. Sepharad in Hebrew means Spain. You're probably talking about Mizrachim, who are Jews from the Mizrach ("East" in Hebrew, which encompasses MOrocco through Iraq, but doesn't include the Iranians or Turks). As for your '2 million estimate' - there are around 6 million Jews in Israel, of which 50% are Mizrachim ... not to mention the large communities in France (leaving by the thousands every year) and New York state. You can do the math.

As for the ridiculous new game of saying "person x (normally of Arab descent) can't be an anti-semite because he's a semite himself," let me say it like this. Ok, so call him a Jew hating twat. Better? The term was created centuries ago ... Who cares what it's about - Anelka, as most of us have posted, is most likely not an anti-semite. But that holocaust denying twat of a comedian definitely is ... He can preach all he wants though -

No one will ban you (I hope), but I find it very ironic you're talking about 'meanings of words' and then you use the term 'Sephardic' to describe Mizrachim. Just saying ...

the trouble with dual nationalism in political office is that of a conflict of interests.

Im not saying ban jews from holding these positions but a renouncement of the israeli citizenship and disclosure of this would go along way to
helping PR!.
The perception of many in france and the usa is that of criminals are looting the banking system in the west and disappearing of to israel with the loot.
many of the banks doing the looting have jewish names (kuhn loeb, rothschild etc etc)

the right wing NF,white power yobbos then gain more power on the back of this and again as a result of a few criminals using dual-nationality to loot countries the ENTIRE jewish population suffers.

ie not all italians are mafia YET somehow all jews are zionist, looting, baby eating scum. why?

Mate, I think you're confusing 'Israelis' with Jews. Some Rothschilds live in Israel (not all related to the banking family - it's a common name), as do Kuhns and Loebs I'm sure. But that doesn't mean all of them in the US are 'Israeli citizens.' What you're saying is nothing different than the Dreyfus case, which 'sparked' Zionism, over 100 years ago ...

I don't know where people get that perception. I think it's hogwash and backed up more by conspiracy theories than reality. I'm sure there are a few nutjobs who do this (and a few Russian mafia types too), and they are an embarrassment.

As for your last statement ... probably because pizza tastes better than what people are convinced is 'good' Jewish food (gefilte fish etc)!

Isn't Obama et al doing the "clean the dandruff off your shoulders" thing, rather than the quenelle there?

What the fuck is that about, anyhoo? Is this some really slow-burn viral marketing thing by Head and Shoulders?

How did brush the dandruff off even become a thing, let alone a supposedly cool thing?

What next, a "squeeze the spot" or "pluck the nasal hair" gesture?

He would be allowed to do it in public, yeah. But he'd get his fucking head caved in. It's the provocation.

That is the time when people will be more willing to defend his right to free speech. Or else to laugh hysterically in the privacy of their own home.

Yes, let's allow everyone who wants to to walk around in Nazi uniforms, boo and chant monkey noises at black players, beat up gay people and make anti-semetic gestures in front of Anne Frank's house, because, you know, everyone has, like, the right to, like, express themselves, like, you know, how they want to. Ludicrous argument.

@LeTallecWiz Is that a fact or made up? I know he's said some crazy shit, but I've never seen him quoted saying that it never happened?

Offence is a conditioned response.
Are you *offended* when I say "pecan pie"? no its just a noise I made with my mouth or a word I just typed
much as the word "nigger" or "yid" etc etc.

If someone takes *offence* to something I pity them.
I would pity the person making the remark to cause the offence.

The enlightened response is not to use the offensive language AND not to take *offence* to the noise being
omitted from the vocal orifice in the cranium of the bellend making the noise.

Anger is a response generated by a lesser intelligence not being able to reason and think and is irrational.
*offence* usually is measured by someone feeling anger ergo...the offended person is being irrational.

he hasn't as far as I am aware. He is questioning the disproportionate number of jewish/Zionist ...whatever label you wish here...people
in the political/banking and media in france. I think it stems from a film of his being denied funding because the topic didn't suit the agenda of the day.
since the financial crisis of 2008 people are looking for scapegoats....the jewish community as a whole will get the flack again for the crimes of a minority mafia that use the jewish community as cover. (or at least that is how I see the situation - please feel free to correct this point of view using rational non emotive argument. im open and easy to hear evidence based argument!)

.... Wowzers

He has a sort of point. In order to cause offense, someone has to choose to be offended. We choose what we are offended by.

I used to get offended by people saying shit about Hillsborough. Now I've become all zen, I just pity them. Its not their fault that they're cunts, but you can't educate the world.

All the same, being existentialist about it and taking away people's right to be offended is.... Kinda dickish

If I was offended by someone's opinion about Hillsborough, would I deserve pity for feeling offended?
