....would you ?

If he was free or a couple of million do you think he's worth pursuing in January to add to our firepower. He's still a class act but is 32 now..

For pretty cheap, definitely.

I'd prefer to get some young foreign lad that I know nothing about, but Anelka might slot in perfectly in the mean time.

I think it's worth a go. Chelsea have told him he doesn't have a future and, if we did have some proper funds to spend, we could spend it all on the next big thing to fill that RM/RW spot

We've only scored 3 goals once this season. That's a massive problem. Creating chances hasn't been a problem. Anelka has always scored well when given good service. It's a no brainer really.

Nah.

Big wages on a 3-year deal.

I say big wages as I imagine MLS clubs and UAE clubs et al will offer him OTT wages. I think hed choose their £ over our challenge

Why's that then ?

I don't want him. Moany sulky cunt. We seem to have a good bunch of lads who like one another. Let's not bring in that big huffy bastard.

I always thought that. In Fowlers biography he said how he never understood why he was viewed that way at all as he was just a quiet lad, not moany or sulky at all.

[/quote]Because he scored 6 goals all last year and 1 so far this year.
Whats the point? Ecclestone would get that many.

Ngog.

I'd take Anelka for a couple of seasons, because he's an improvement on our options; but you'd have to suspect he is going to go somewhere he can play week in week out, and still get paid big moolah (PSG?).

I'd like Henry on loan in January however - even though he's not a patch on the player he was, Ive always wanted to see him in a Liverpool shirt

Would Chelsea risk him firing us into the CL for the sake of a couple of million they don't exactly need?

Fowler hated him did he not? Doesn't he go on about how much he despised him, and that Anelka refused to communicate with him. Maybe I'm misremembering.

The local boys have always said that Anelka didnt live up to his bad-boy reputation when he was with us - quiet and unassuming seems to have been the gist.

No. There is no I in this team, and Anelka doesn't fit in. We need to be more clinical and accurate in our finnishing, but we have a good team who plays and run for each other, outplaying most other teams.

I've always wanted to see Zidane in a Liverpool-shirt, doesn't mean I hope we buy him now mind.

Pffffffft, lets be honest, even now we'd benefit more from Henry than we would Bendtner!

His contract is up in the summer, so he'd be going for next to nothing. To me he'd be a similar signing to Bellamy. He's quick makes things happen and can score goals.

If it was on similar terms to Bellamy, then we should definitely do it.

Is that in reference to another post or is there actually a poster on here who reckons Bendtner would be a better option than a 42-year-old Henry?

PUTS ON BIG SMILEY FACE

---> ;D

Depends who we can get. We aren't scoring enough so could do with someone. I wouldn't be devastated if we signed Anelka but if we can get a younger player who also has a proven track record then that would be preferable.

I'd be pissed off if we signed noone at all and Anelka went elsewhere and scored lots of goals though so he's certainly worth bearing in mind.

Of course he is, and the stick he's taken in this thread is so behind the times it's unreal. Nico wasn't remotely @rsey when he was with us the first time (Robbie's book is full of special pleading and IMHO he doesn't come out of it that well) or with the clubs he played for after us, even though he didn't want to be there, and he hasn't been for the Chavs. If his head's right, our people are satisfied with his form and the price is right, I'd take him back in a New York minute.
