If before the transfer window I was offered Suarez and Carroll for about 8M plus a slower, injury prone, lazy almost 27 year old sulking shitbag, I'd have been very happy.
I really like the reports of Suarez's enthusiasm for the game and I'm really excited to have Carroll as our new Number 9, especially after his impressive England debut.
Back in 1992 I believe, Souness was looking for a striker to replace the outgoing Beardsley and asked Southampton about their young forward, Alan Shearer. He was quoted 3.3M which he felt was steep and therefore decided to buy Dean Saunders from Derby for 2.7 instead. Blackburn manager Kenny Dalglish quickly paid Soton the 3.3M and won the Premiership before the club sold Shearer to Newcastle for 15M.
Now clearly Liverpool are unlikely to sell Carroll for 5 times what we paid however this lad could well turn into Kenny's second Shearer and if he plays his part in helping us to the Title, who will give a shite how much he cost?

Hopefully that's the case,Wilko..and good post.
We shouldnt be too carefree about the fees though imo; for a short while Saunders was still a British record at 2.75 million..theres every possibility that if we'd bought more carefully, even someone cheaper might have been much better for us..Collymore too..
