Andy Carroll In Danger Yo !

I think we could solve all this quite simply. It seems to me that Spurs are simply buying whomever we are in for.
So we simply release a story that WE are in for Andy Carroll at 20m and wait for Villas-boas to offer 25m to beat our offer.
Sorted.

I love the way people all assume that we are going to play like Spain and Barca because we have rogers now.

Let's wait and see whether a "Carroll type" is not suited into out magical footy.

I am normally as optimistic as anyone but some on here are over loving the footy we are expecting to play under Rogers/Pep

Newcastle played good stuff with Cisse and Ba up front yet still think Carroll is suited to them, Pardew is no hoof it merchant

"I bet Kenny is not impressed"

BAAAAAAAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHhhH

Who gives a FUCK what Dalglish thinks? It's his fucking fault we're having to offload Geordie fucking Shore for half what we paid for him.

LOL. Plus the idea that we can keep him and drive up his value is hopeful at best. What's the guy ever going to be worth, seriously? No-one's ever gonna pay £35m for him again, or £30m, or even £25m probably. You're gambling that you *might* add, what, £5m to his ultimate price tag. But at what cost? You wouldn't have that £15-17m player all season that Rodgers actully wants. You'd have to play him a lot, presumably in a system that he doesn't suit or the manager doesn't favour. Isn't it just as likely that this would cause us to miss out on CL football as it is to add a few mill to his market value? So keeping him might save us £5m, but selling him might gain us £30m.

As for Rodgers' behaviour in the press conference....I'm not sure. Maybe he should've kept his cards closer to his chest. I certainly think we want to avoid making Newcastle the only viable buyer, so that's a worry. But unitl we know how it pans out I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, and I certainly can't complain about him deciding to get rid.

you have a strange laugh - it begins with Baaa?????

Yes he may stay but can you seriously see Andy wanting to knuckle down after rodgers has publicly humiliated like this. All that will happen is Andy will not want to give a fuck go back to his old ways and we sit and watch as his value plummets further. We don't hold the cards here now.

I think you're wrong. If we cannot sell him for 20 mill and he stays, and he pulls the stunts you allude to, we treat him like Shitty treated Tevez. Huge fines etc ...

Who has assumed we're going "to play like Spain and Barca" Fox?

loads on here are with the Carroll don't suit Rogers style, did I miss something last year with their Carroll like Centre forward at Swansea.

Nobody knows what Rogers style will be, how does Rogers know Carroll could not do what he asked of him. He has not even tried him hence why I said give him a go for a season.

I don't get it, if Rodgers wanted rid then his actions in that conference were mad. Those words cost us at least 5,if not 10m in negotiations.

I can only surmise that he thought announcing it to the world was the only way to get bids in from multiple clubs & that would drive the price up higher than the loss he'd just made.

Which is stupid.

Is correct Jon Fox. Likewise El Pistolero and Doctor Mac and Woland.
Its fucking retarded.

I've got a couple of businesses but I'm shit at negotiating, I mean I end up saying they can have it all for nothing if someone is nice to me. I'm fucking rubbish at all that side of things. So I have this dude who isn't and he does it instead. It's got to the point where I don't even know how much I charge for stuff, I just make sure it all gets made and works, and not knowing is better because I can't even get dragged into the debate to fuck it all up. I don't consider it a massive failing of mine coz someone else does it and they do it well.

How come someone who's never been in business and is just a coach is allowed to all of a sudden start fucking about with assets worth tens of millions? It doesn't make any sense.

I can't see Andy giving a fuck to be honest, and the club would look stupid. Unsettle a player then can't sell so decide to fine him because he's reacting to the way he's been treated. We would look good.

At least Tevez deserved to be fined and the club hadn't alienated him prior to him being a cunt.

He felt he was alienated if I remember correctly, ie. Mancini made an example of him etc ...

That being said, I don't really care. I wanted Andy to get a shot, but will give the benefit of the doubt to Rodgers, who'll get criticism no matter what as you're damned if you do, you're damned if you don't (if you're our manager).

How did Alonso look the year after we tried to sell him to finance the Barry purchase? He was unsettled, and yet he did things the right thing. If Andy doesn't, fine him non-stop.

BR will have got it spot on if he gets a fee in the region of 20m for him and spends it on someone boss. It just doesn't seem like it will go that way from here.

.... and we were not able to persuade Alonso to stay after he enjoyed his best ever season with us, then we signed Aquilani ...

I kinda agree. But then I look at the business skills of FSG, people who've been in business for decades and mades hundreds of millions out of it, and see them fucking up at every stage and being dictated to by football managers and...... well I'm not sure what my point is. But I suppose it's ironic that the real morons in all this are the ones who've proved themselves not to be morons.

I don't know. You could argue that FSG have done the same thing, allowed people who are supposed to be good at this shit, to get on with their jobs and do the bargaining. Hense why Comolli got the boot, because they trusted him and he fucked it up.

I think the player that pummelled the Chelsea defence for the last 30 minutes of the FA cup final looked every inch a 20 million player, a complete monster.

That player wasn't in evidence too much over the season, but if he gets played every week by a manager who trusts him, I'd say that could become par for the course for him. I'm not saying we should necessarilly be that team, and Rodgers doesn't look like his vision will allow him to be that manager. What I'm trying to say is that he's worth 20 million to someone.

The problem is, he was probably worth about £20m when we paid £35m for him. I don't think he's worth £20m after the season he's had.

After he's just been bummed by the mass media for his fitness and his performances for England? After his Wembley goals for us? He'd just got to that level, he'd just started looking and playing like a £20m piece of meat. That's what makes BRs strategy so stupid.

Yup, unfortunately, we didn't keep Alonso (though we did get 30 million). So if we have a great year from Carroll, and get 30 million, both 'sides' should in theory be happy in this situation.

Maybe Rodgers is just giving him a kick up the arse and letting him know that he has to put in the hard yards if he wants an Anfield future.

Have to agree, what disappoints me about the whole things is Rogers has already made his mind up that he can't play with Carol and is shipping him out early. If he's such a fwd thinking, studious manager as claimed by a few then should he not be able to manage his resources?
Is Carol value likely to be drastically to be reduced after another 12 months with us?
I guess, I disagreed with Daglish's decision to sell Meirels and now it feels like another decision that just feels wrong before a ball is even kicked. I personally thought Caroll had lost bit of weight and seemed to be doing his bit, personally would have loved to seen him have another season and just seen what would have happened...
I pretty much will not have a go at another LFC player for showing disloyalty again, we behave just as bad so how can I have a go when the next LFC player hand's his transfer request...

I don't think many were happy with the sale of Alonso though.

I can't blame Rodgers for not wanting him. He most probably wants a more mobile player like suarez leading our attacks with borini and whoever playing just behind. A very fluid front 3 interchanging and creating space for others and hunting in packs to win the ball back. Can you see carroll really playing in such a formation? Fuck me the guy is so easy to mark as he hardly moves. Yeah he destroyed terry, but i can think of a lot more games where defenders handled him with ease. I think of a lot more games where he looks like he really can't be arsed and plenty of games where his technique was poor and when he did do runs off the ball they were to nowhere and you wondered WTF??? He's just an old school battering ram and rodgers wants us to move away from that thank god.
