I don't think Arbeloa had a good game yesterday, but he wasn't a 'disgrace' in my eyes. He wasn't even that bad.
What did he do to give you that opinion?
I don't remember any crosses coming in from his side.
He didn't give the ball away and he got forward to support Dirk.

Errr... no. He's just been playing badly for the latter part of the season. Jamie has been some way off his best of late too. It's no surprise given that they've both played around 50 games this season. Whatever people think of Alvaro, trying to 'back-date' his poor form to a part of the season when he was actually playing very well is folly. Pretty much everyone on this site was satisfied with him halfway through the season (see here for confirmation of this, including a sterling contribution from yourself). Suddenly a poor run of form (coinciding with generally poor form across the entire back line) and he's being written off.

As for the comments he was in a purple patch IMO and when he does play to that level (which is why it's so fucking annoying now (also let's not forget how fickle we fans can be at times)) he is in amongst the top RBs in the country, the problem comes in that he doesn't stay there.
This season is very much like last for me, he had a great spell (or a couple) last year and then went shit again. Also it's never fun ripping into your teams players, so when some idiots on the bbc blather on when he was in good form I am going to say something. If you look though I did say MOST of the season, a half season of playing shit isn't most I will give you but it isn't good either. If his attitude was better I may be more lenient in my opinion of him, but at times it god fucking awful. I really understand why Carra was furious with him, he goes out of position all the fucking time (even when he was in good form, it's just then he could be forgiven somewhat). There's better out there and I do think we need it.

I didn't go looking for your posts specifically. I simply searched 'Arbeloa' to find a couple of earlier threads on him so I could offer a bit of perspective. It just so happened that you were in one of them hailing him as being one of the best right backs in the league for some time.
I'm not saying he's a world beater, just that he's a useful player in a bad run of form. He'd still provide excellent cover if we were to replace him in the first team.
