I missed Sunday's game. How was Allen? How was the midfield looking with him in place on Hendo?

With our current set-up in midfield he lacks the physicality for the Henderson role.

He's too easily shrugged off the ball and hardly ever wins 50/50 challenges. It's not just his size (there's plenty of small midfielders with bite), he just hasn't got that extra natural aggression needed.

He'll be 24 in March and had two seasons of producing virtually nothing noteworthy for us unless he delivers a massive improvement in the 12 games we have left. I wonder how much we could get for him in the summer because I'd certainly be looking to offload.

Well you thought wrong.

He was non existent. Slow. Lazy.

Brendan should just tell the officials that we will play with 10 men if he decides to choose Allen again in coming fixtures.

Nonsense.

like i said before , he's the sort of player that turns in steady 5-7/10 performances but rarely seems capable of higher . I'm well aware that for certain positions and lineups there can be a place for a player like that in a team but in this case i still don't think he has enough influence on a game . Again i'm not even demanding assists , loads of goals or crazy 5 men beating dribbles . I just want a bit more so that you actually notice him .

He's had injuries but still he's hardly kicked on at all since being here . I'm sure someone will come running along to tell me how i'm missing the craft of his game , the critical role he plays , keeping things ticking over blah blah and how he'll come good . Fuck that , he's a 15m player who offers little and is currently only a squad player . He needs to do more or he'll remain that way .

Quiet in the first half, very good in the second - at least in the earlier stages of it. Made some good passes that were key to a few opportunities. On an occasion, he received a pass with 2 to 3 Arsenal players converging on him to trap him, turned, and made a wonderful short pass forward in one motion, keeping possession for us and avoiding us losing the ball in a bad place.

He's been very unlucky with injuries since coming to Liverpool, resulting in a frustratingly stop-start career. I just hope his luck turns better next season, as he's an intelligent and wonderful player to watch on his day with his quick passes on the turn. He's no Coutinho, but like Henderson, he's capable of some nice passes in the attacking third that can catch opponents out because they don't expect him to make that pass.

I just hope he'll stay fit next season and not become the next Smicer.

Yep... Won't believe it until we get a "listen son" from him.

If he can tell me where he was supposed to meet me for a bevvy at the derby about 10 years ago and never showed up then I'll believe it's him.

Fcuking 10 years ago Pete you big fucking pussy! My bodyguard didnt let me. We went straight to the game.

Allen was quite good vs Arsenal. Some decent passing and created chances for Suarez.
He was in to some really good form before he got injured and looked very positive.
Hopefully he can contribute in our last 12 games and we'll see performances like the Spurs game.

Read a few rumours that if Monk gets the Swansea job he wants Allen back.
After 2 years of start stop you'd wonder if we should move him on and get in someone else.
Still hoping he'll come good mind.

He was ok, we lack something when he plays ahead of Hendo. I don't think he will ever be a starter or good enough to force someone out of the team but I don't mind him playing league cup or the easier noon physical league games at home.

You're all assuming we're always going to play with two strikers.

Firstly, at some point Sturridge or Suarez may get injured. Secondly, Suarez still may go in the summer.

If either of those things happen I think we'll see a midfield of Gerrard, Henderson, Allen.

That could work, cos you'd have coutinho playing 'in the hole' as the most forward midfielder Hendersons legs, & Allen as an extra passing influence.

Sell, sell, sell.

Fuck all those IF's.

Allen is not and will not be a good player. Suitable for mid-table team. Sell.

He's a welsh Poulsen, but I'm sure Ryan will be along soon to tell us we're all wrong and that we actually dont understand football on any level even remotely close to the way he can comprehend such things

He really is a average footballer. He doesn't offer much apart from that fact he keeps possession. Yeah that's a decent trait, but you can find that with many other footballers who will offer you more than JUST that and at a better price. We should be selling him in the summer. He's not a good defensive midfielder and pretty poor going forward as well.
