Alisson Wonderland

Really? It rates Karius above Courtois. I have doubts about it.

Severe doubts.

That's one immediate problem with the table.

Save percentages and shots per goal etc aren't good ways of predicting how a goalkeeper will fare.

Allison's stats might well indicate he was brilliant last season, but they might also indicate poor shot quality.

How close are we to breaking FFP rules? If we get a attacking AM our spend for this season is £200m plus.
We have to get rid of some players, the problem is who would want them?

Yeah, it's not conclusive, but it's a good indicator that he's doing something right (or Roma were as a team).

And for those who say Karius comes out favourably. Well, for one, Courtois wasn't great for Chelsea last year. And secondly, Karius only played half a season (after we tightened up, with the signing of VVD).

Nor does the table take into account all the howlers (for all GKs) that went unpunished.

Some of them are probably reasonably desirable. There's apparently a queue of mid-lower PL teams who'd like Ings. Studge is one who someone might take a gamble on. Origi, again, somebody might take a punt on his raw ability. Markovic is one who just looks virtually unsellable. Not sure we want to sell any more than these, do we?

I also like the fact that he's a big unit of a keeper. Karius is 1,90 and 75 kg, Alisson is 1,93 and 90 kg.
Alisson, Van Dijk, Matip, Lovren, Fabinho etc. Hopefully we wont concede to many goals from set pieces and crosses anymore.

Will hopefully command his area in a way we have missed for long while.

Ming?

I do not like the fact you use commas instead of decimal points.

If we had a semi decent keeper i'd be pissed over us spending so much on a keeper that is good but great. He's not on the same level as oblak, de gea or courtois IMO. Seen him flap a bit at crosses and parry a lot of shots back into the danger area rather than away from goal. But considering we have at best sunday league goalkeepers im fucking ecstatic to get Becker and dont give a shit about the price.

Make no mistake, not only did Karius wipe a good £5m off his own value, his stupidity will have served to weaken our negotiating position and added the extra £15m onto the price of Alisson.

Jaysus. Ming doesn't come out of this well. The key stat is the Xshots stat isn't it? So forget all the shots which have no fucking chance or that the keeper should always expect to save (like the ones Karius let in). Instead the shots that represent excellent chances, where the keeper has saved his team a goal.

Someone! Bring me that stat!
RIGHT. I'LL NEARLY DO IT MY FUCKING SELF YOU WORK-SHY SIXPENCE LICKERS.

Liking these figures, dantes.

No doubt based on extensive research of the transfer market over a number of years.

I've only seen him pick the ball out of the net 7 times, drop crosses and totally bottle out of an aerial challenge (with the fucking Shithouse Ghost of all people) to concede one of those, so can somebody please post one of those reassuring Youtube videos to make me feel happy about spending £67m on him?

ABK

You like them because they were based upon how far I thought I could push it to direct as much hate toward Karius as possible.

Also he wasn't much help for them in the Nou Camp.

Nail your colours to the mast now and call him shit!

Then you can say how right you were or - as happens all too often with you (poor the Brendan) - Alisson will spend the next few years making you look like a right tit, when it's clear he is anything but shit..

Watching the goals he conceded against us at Anfield and the Olimpico, you'd have to be quite negative towards him when blaming him.
At Anfield he could at a stretch maybe have reacted quicker for the 4th goal, but when Salah cuts inside like that and plays it across the box its nearly impossible.
In Rome, he could maybe have been quicker of his line to challenge Gini, but doesnt come out enough to get anywhere near the challenge.
So, at a stretch 1-2 goals out of 7.

Anyway, those two games arent enough to define him as a GK regardless.

@Oliver Twist - I hope you are right but most people on this site will expect fuck all greatness .. as overall we have a shit record when it comes to goalies. And we the supporters of the club will be first in line to batter and ruin the new goalie on the slightest mistake.

To be honest the sort of money we are gonna pay means we will expect him to do the most unimagineable shit you will expect from a goalie.

I feel like your setting yourself up for a fall with this one.

You'd need a bit more than one seasons worth of data to be able to say whether it's because he's good or lucky.

Of course not, I just want more reassuring evidence that he is, in fact, going to be amazing.

I think we're all excited because everybody wanted us to buy a new goalkeeper and it looks like we're also going to make him the most expensive goalkeeper in history.
And ABK.
