Alexandre Lacazette

I find the rumour that he's available for 21m hard to fathom.

It's not long since Aulas was publicly saying 50m wouldn't be enough

Me too - I'm guessing two things -

1) Lacazette has told him he'll leave once his contract runs out, so he is desperate to sell and there aren't so many teams interested for whatever reason
2) He is trying to get people interested - i.e. a bidding war - and has leaked a low price to the press to get clubs to get curious.

Yeah I wouldn't be surprised if he was looking to cash in, and maybe the interest he foresaw just isn't there at the.moment

Seems to be the case - none of the big teams seem interested.

You'd think we'd have a conversation with Lyon.

He's comfortably worth £10-15M more than whatever we value Christian Benteke. I'd be surprised if landed him, but I'd be gutted to know we didn't even try.

He's not like Trezeguet at all.

I'd compare him to Aguero - short, strong, good pace and good skill (though not other-worldly), and smart finisher (predominantly right-footed).

Like Aguero, he is also a very smart player - drops deep when required and creates chances as well.

Does he have similar acceleration?

Aguero is a world class player and from all the comments about Lacazette one has to presume he is also. Is that the case or are we talking more Aguero-lite?

I think Aguero is more explosive.

But put it this way, if he came to PL, I'd back him to be consistently amongst the top 3 scorers for the next 3-4 years. I don't think he'd be a top 5 striker in the world like Aguero, but I think he'd be about 80-90% of such a player. That's a talent worth spending 30 million in today's market IMO.

A French lad who plays football with my mate said Lacazette is the real deal. He supports Lyon and recommended us signing him last year.

That sounds exactly like the kind of striker we need. (who doesn't need an Aguero)

Been banging on about this lad for the past few years. Should have gone for him last summer. This boat has sailed unfortunately. Quality player that would have worked well with studge or a front three.

Except he wasn't available last Summer. Both the club president and Lacazette himself said he wouldn't move.

I know I'm guilty of it, but can we stop posting in this thread? I keep getting notifications and letting myself hope.

There is absolutely no fucking way he'd come to us, unless through some dodgy, third party ownership malarkey where somebody receives a big bag of cash to make him come to us. Not going to happen. We know that, he knows that. Move on. No camp site needed here.
