Agger's warning

I don't think so. He isn't very tall and his playing style was described as being very similar to Agger's.

Is he? He was listed at 183 cm somewhere and that's just about 6 ft I think.

Regardless, he's not renowned for his aerial ability.

I'd really like to see him forge a cb partnership with kelly over the years though.

Wilson is 6"2 and good in the air, and will turn into a cracking defender. Some of his passing for the reserves the other day was just amazing.

Agger is a good player but not so good that he has a right to start moaning and laying down demands just because he is not playing.

If he is going to be childish then he can go. We have enough problems frankly without the players we have creating more
This. ^

If he really said that then he is a mouthy git who should learn a little respect.

We are playing the ball out very nicely thank you very much Mr. Agger.

We need someone who can actually head the ball anyway. He started off looking like he could be superb, but hasn't come through on the promise shown. Big pity we didn't get Vidic instead.

Replace then sell.

That would be exciting. Dunno much about Wilson but I genuinely believe that Kelly and Shelvey are the next Carra and Gerrard.

I think Skittles is not really a great defender. Agger is the stronger threat in the air, he is also more composed on the ball, and is probably positionally more away. He should start ahead of Skittles.

But if Glenjo pulls his finger out, we will find that a lot of the problem can sort itself out. Cutting his hair would be a good place to start.

The third goal from yesterday was entirely Carra's fault though. The cross came in from very deep. Its not that sort of cross that gets blocked. More often than not those balls sail over the goal line...but this one was on the money, but Carra should have still done a bit more.

Berbatov is very strong in the air. I remember two seasons ago he gave our defenders a torrid time playing for Spurs - who used balls played over the top to telling effect. So over reacting based on one goal is a bit harsh. There are only two players at that level in the league.....Berbatov and Drogba. We are not going to play against them every week.

I find all these people who want Zorba played ahead of Carra a bit silly. Zorba has mistakes written all over him. He is an insurance policy. If we suffer injuries we have an experienced hand to step in at the back. We shouldn't be making new plans for him.

Good post. Agree pretty much word for word. Kyrgiakos is a bit better than you give him credit for though.

He probably shouldn't have aired his frustrations so soon but on the other hand there's no doubt in my mind that he's beeing vey sincere here.

Roy now knows what to expect at least.

Oh, well that's ok then. As long as he's being a 'sincere' cunt.

Frustrated Daniel Agger refuses to adapt to new Liverpool FC style

Daniel Agger has admitted that he is frustrated by Roy Hodgson’s style of play at Liverpool.

The attack-minded defender will be eager to forget his brief cameo at Old Trafford yesterday after failing to prevent the cross that led to Dimitar Berbatov’s winning goal just two minutes after he had replaced Paul Konchesky at left-back.

Agger, who was also left out of the starting line-up against Birmingham City last weekend, has lifted the lid on his frustrations behind Hodgson’s approach to games and has refused to alter his natural game despite fears that it could see him overlooked for a regular place in the side.

"The manager's philosophy is that we play football in attack, but not at the back. That's not my style," he told Sporten.dk

“I'm not that type of player. I like to keep the ball on the ground, and that's what I'll keep doing. Time will show if he [Hodgson] doesn't want to play me because of that".

"I'll try to change myself, but I will never be a player who offloads the ball at every opportunity."

"I'll fight for my chance. I know what I stand for, and I think he [Hodgson] does too".

Agger's not as good as he thinks he is.
Nothing wrong with players believing in themselves is there?

And I must admit for what it's worth I believe we could use his 'play me I'm the best'-attitude on the pitch as well. We seem to lack a bit of aggression (in the right way) and determination at times and as he's certainly not affraid of going forward it could motivate other to go that extra mile too. In other words he certainly doesn't hide when playing.

Anyways this is a case of a player who believes he should be playing and one we can't keep in our squad only as a back-up.

Nothing new here happens all the time in most clubs, everything that matters now is whether we believe he's good enough to start or not. If not then of course he should be sold come January.

I atually think there's some truth what Aggrer is saying; not that we're playing hoofball, because everyone bar KHL can see that we're not.

But I can believe that Hodgson has told him that the CB's will ned to be more traditional with less forays into midfield.

Mainly because our 18 million RB is a shit RB.

He's only good playing forward so an attacking fullback (that's for you, Neil) and one attacking CB will leave us extremely vulnerable in defence.

Its obviously easy for him to come out now and say this, as we are struggling. Its also not very fucking helpful quite frankly.

However, hopefully we will start improving and winning games, without him probably, and then we will see how long it takes for him to change his tune.

I do agree though that he is nowhere near as good as he seems to think he is. I would probably place him just ahead of Skrtel but its close. And Skrtel doesn't seem to moan as much.

Christ. The ONLY player who should be expecting to play every game for us is Ryan Babel. Agger is miles from that standard.

Hahaha... I really like this Babel love-in of yours Oncy.

Heh, wasn't it just over a week ago that he claimed how much happier everyone at the club (including himself) is since Uncle Roy took over?

If this had been written during Rafa's reign, or he was saying the reverse, there'd be 50 pages in this thread already of I told you so's. Shockingly it appears that Rafa didn't tell his defense to hoof it, as was alleged in various places. They just did quite a bit at certain times because Crouch was up there, or, you know, their alternative was to engage in a defensive one-two with lucas, or because they aren't comfortable on the ball.

Anyway, I'm disturbed by this old fashioned English manager sounding stuff.

Agger needs to shut the fuck up. The way we defended yesterday, he'd have probably got his chance soon, but this is just classless. Two games and he doesnt like it, didn't he do this a while back? Wanting to play is one thing, so is self confidence, but questioning your manager in public is career suicide, especially when partly responsible for united grabbing the winner yesterday.

Do your talking on the training ground and on the pitch, soft lad.

I don't think we've been playing hoofball?

I do however believe you could be right with regards to player instructions and I do think that we've been sitting deeper than what we've been used too under Rafa and that leaves defenders like Skrtel and Carra with two options.

Short, sideways passing untill one from midfield takes it forward or long balls. We saw a bit to much of the latter in the Brum and WBA games for my liking.

Your first post suggest that Agger's outburst is due to the fact that he's been benched beause Hodgson wants to play hoofball and Agger's not keen on it.

That's bullshit because we arent playing hoofball.

But I can believe there are other reasons why he's being benched, and I don't like them.

I laso hope Agger and Skrtel are our future, but things arent working out that way.

As I see it, Agger can only play when a more traditional RB like Kelly is playing, and I dont see our 18 million RB being benched.

Which is why I hope the JOhnson RW experiment is tried in earnest soon.

I would sooner that Johnson raises his game at RB to be honest, and ideally Agger will decide to stop whinging too.

He's hardly such a brilliant player that everything should be built around him just to keep him happy. He is a good player but he certainly has his limitations.
