Adama on Eve of Liverpool Move?

I could really see how bringing on for us at 1-0 up would be an insane nightmare to defend against. For a reasonable price it makes sense

Look how fucking desperate our players were the moment he had the ball. He was the only player we were shit scared of. Now imagine him being in our team with our attackers. Again, I understand he has really shit end product but he is a monster. If he’s not going to cost a crazy amount I’d get him.

I think that was a good audition by him. Problem is, we only see him countering. How good is he playing against a team that's sitting back?

Brings more to the team than the ten minute wonder that is AOC

Ox - 8 goals in 84 league appearances for Liverpool

Traoré - 7 goals in 116 league appearances for Wolves.

Seems like the 10 minute wonder is bringing more to me.

Also... we’d need to delist or shift someone other than Ox on account of Traoré not being homegrown.

Are you suggesting that we don’t like a good counter? If he had had support, goals would have been scored.

Most of the time we have to break down defences. Especially against teams like Burnley, Brighton etc.

True, until we are ahead by a goal or two and the game opens up.

And, he could certainly panic a City or Chelsea defense even when level.

Like, if he consistently got in to good positions, and he was let down by team mates or great defending, I'd be on board. But he can't cross, he can't shoot, he can't time a run. These are basic things which you cant teach. If he hasn't got them by 25 then it's not happening.

Can't argue with his stats for goals and assists, they're so weirdly shit, but I do think they'd improve loads for us.

watching wolves today would suggest they have very little going on these days except hoping Traore sparks something, i agree the stats would jump for us by virtue of playing with better players and all that would bring.

Yeah, he’s great at the run really fast with the ball and go past players. But it doesnt lead to anything and he must be the worst teammate ever.
Big N O to signing him.

I don't know what to think.

If we could just get him to learn how to cut it back, low and hard. Not even trying to pick anyone out, just low and hard, then we have the players to finish those chances.

But he should know that by now.

Except Wolves do not get enough forward to increase the odds of finding someone.

We complain about his end product, when he usually only has one target. He will never be good enough to do that regularly.

If he cut it back in our team, there would be 3 or 4 chances to get lucky.

He was both great and shite today. Dribbling and running was superb but his choice of passing and even basics like weight of passing were league two level at times.

whilst i believe that can be improved through coaching. I think it would take too long.

If every three yellow cards drawn got you one point, then it's a resounding yes. Otherwise, what the heck are we getting him for?

He's not a kid though. I mean, how much can he actually develop at 25 (turns 26 in January)?
He might improve tactically, but I don't expect much more than we're actually seeing. He'll be useful that's for sure, but I'd rather have someone like Raphinha who offeres pace and more.

I would also prefer Raphinha, if that is option and most likely a replacement for Salah.

I think Traore could hurt some teams for us, especially in January. We can sell again in the summer.

Are there that many idiots in the market?

Maybe you missed me stating that his goal scoring record was not that good, but where he would excel is the chances he would create for others

Unless Bobby or Jota grows 20 feet, his crossing his shite. Along the ground is no better.

Signing him has zero upside.

What is it that you think we’re going to find when we compare assist records?

I hate to break it to you... but you’ll find the Ox has a better assist record in the Premier as well.

Do you want to double down on something else and keep on ploughing this lonely furlough of make believe nonsense, or possibly accept your analysis is somewhat flawed?

I’m with you, almost entirely.

He’s not some raw kid, he’s not some sort of stat outlier, he’s not someone that’s famed for his intelligent use of space or precision use of the ball and his basic “important” stats (goals and assists) are decidedly average.

There’s seems nothing there to suggest he’d improve us.

Yes, he has certain attributes that make him highly sought after for “smaller” teams.

As many have said - teams don’t play a high line regularly against us - it’ll negate his pace - and he doesn’t have anything near the skill set of Salah, or Mane or Jota for that matter, to be worth the effort.

It’s entirely possible Klopp knows something I don’t... but I can’t see what it is.
