Jesus - at 20m, I could name you 10 players we should sign for less.

Name those players!

I spoke to a Southampton fan I know quite well - this was his opinion :

"He's amazing to a point..His ball control skills are like nothing anyone has ever produced before, so defenders just can't deal with him at all. He breezed past 6 players to score against Hull.

The only thing stopping him being Ronaldo/Bale/Messi class is his lack of pace and indifferent finishing. I think he'll stay, but if he goes anywhere I just hope it's not to United. Their sense of entitlement is sickening."

Obviously he's going to rate him pretty high - but they really do rate him very highly.

I think pace, while an undoubted asset, can be overrated. I saw Juan Roman Riquelme control a midfield against Arsenal's speedstars a few years ago-- not saying he's a Riquelme-- and it was an absolute joy. Finishing is something Rodgers has proved he can remedy.

Llalana really impressed me when I saw him for England. He's got a natural flair on the ball. However, I think it might be another Joe Allen signing rather than a Luis Suarez signing.

Riquelme was a fabulous player on his day but very different to Lallana.

Pace is overrated if you're Djibril Cissé.

Pace helps, but without the skill to use it it's useless. If ronaldo had the pace of alonso he wouldn't be anywhere near as effective. So pace is definitely not overrated.

I think Ronaldo could be like Figo if he didn't have pace

I live in Southampton, Saints fans are....a different breed.

They all seem to think Lallana is their Gerrard who will never leave, loves the club etc. They think Saints can realistically challenge for CL, and that Pochettino is going to sign loads of players for that CL push, therefore Lallana will stay to spearhead that.

Except unless he's taking Coutinhos spot pace is pretty essential in our set up.

I just don't get the inverted snobbery with some people, just because he is English he cannot be as sexy as a foreign player. Well considering how Rodgers is proving that wrong and bangs on all the time about how British players are just as skillful as their foreign counterparts I just don't see that as an argument. If he's good enough get him in, he won't need to adjust to the league or settle in to a new country. He is a class player who will be even better in our team. If he played in the much slower Serie A he would be showing crazy skills and everyone would be raving about him.

It's more about the price tag (for me anyway) rather than where he's from. To me i'd be pissed if we paid more than £20m for him. I'd rather we focus the majority of our budget on our defense rather than attack.
