This nails it for me.
I'd like us to sign Lallana but only at the right price.
So what do we do then old chum, what is our tactic in this, the biggest window we have ever been looking into? As rest assured it is, if we fall out of the club this year we may never get back in unless we are gobbled up by some Arabs or a Russian con-man.
Do we do what we usually do? Identify our targets, ask the selling club what they want, shake our heads, give a sharp intake of breath and offer half. At which point the sellers laugh, we flounder around increasing that offer over a 2 week period and Chelsea, Spurs, City , United or whoever come in and buy them. Brendan is then left scrabbling around for the scraps.
Yes we get lucky sometimes with a Coutinho here and there, but we really really can't take that gamble. We have important business to do.
I know any player is a gamble, but Lallana is as safe as you are going to get.
Yes maybe in reality he is a £15m to £20 tops player, but this market is not reality.
Listen to me on this one and trust me, we need to get into this window all guns blazing, do our business early before the WC starts and get out, that will mean paying over the odds, I really hop our owners and management will realise that.
