Adam Lallana

If we're looking solely at the numbers then fine, good point

Coutinho spends 20 minutes finding his feet, then he spends 20+ finding his passing boots, then he spends the rest of the game either being quite effective, or still finding his boots.

Lallana is quite good at being sensible with the ball and knowing when to release it

I was just correcting some of the faults in Frogs post, that's all.
We need another Coutinho type player and maybe Lallana is the right player. I've got nothing against him as a player, for me it's just about the fee.

Can we please stop using the Carroll deal as a comparable example to any potential move for Adam Lallana.

Polar opposite players. Rogers has shown in the past the players he want at this club in his moves for Mkhi, Kono, Willian and Costa. I think gone is the day we spend 35 million on an Andy Carroll.

However, I fear we might pay an inflated fee for Lallana but I doubt we'll be stung to the effect we were with Carroll. I'd like to think that was one off and situational with the Torres money burning a hole in our pocket. I can't see us going further than 20 million for Lallana and if he comes we'll have a very very good player on our hands.
The Carroll comparison relates to the almost one season Premiership experience as opposed to price.

PS: We are not United ;-)

Your point being ? Because those stats don't make one. Unless you are just supplying data ?

Like I said Allen didn't cost £18 mill and Lallana's goals and assists weren't WAY more than Coutinho's. That's all.

The Brill Building was basically a songwriting factory where the likes of Gerry Goffin, Paul Simon, Carole King, Neil Sedaka, Jerry Leiber etc etc wrote songs and jingles non stop. And if they'd been football fans no doubt they'd all now be writing the same kind of crap about Lallana that is clogging up this thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Adam Lallana, rules the pitch!
He will never be someone's bitch.

To the tune of Rule Britannia.

I just want to make sure I add to it before it's locked. I can't believe Mystic hasn't used this obvious choice for a Lallana song yet.

OK then I think you totally missed the point of my post ! Suggest you give it another try 😉

SWEEPSTAKE: What will be the page count of this thread on the day Lallana is announced by LFC (if he signs).

You haven't understood any of a carefully worded post, and I frankly can't be bothered explaining it.

The Kuyt and Osman comparisons are very relevant for a valuation exercise if you actually put some thought to it. Here are some more names from the last 5-7 years that you should consider - Malouda, van der Vaart, Dempsey, Kalou, Michu, Benayoun, Nani, Sigurdsson. These are far better valuation comparisons than the completely laughable references to Iniesta and Goetze. These are goalscoring attacking mdfielders in the PL who his statistical production is comparable with. Why shouldn't value (after accounting for inflation) be referenced accordingly?

Even assuming that he's far more talented than any of them (and I'm not necessarily willing to concede that - VdV, Malouda, Michu are/were very talented), then you have other comparisons - like Eriksen, Coutinho, Kagawa, Belhanda, Marvin Martin, Kovacic, Pjanic, Firmino, Djuricic - and that's just off the top of my head, who've gone for a pittance compared to the 25 million figure being bandied about for Lallana.

Have you seen what most of these guys have been doing for the past 2 years - for club AND country? Some of these guys have over 20 senior caps, and are their sides' best players - it's quite different from breaking through into an English team largely devoid of talent, managed by one of the shittest managers in the world and making an impact as a sub.

He's a talented player alright and he's done very well this season. And just for the record, lest some idiot likes to remind me when we've signed him that I said he was shit, I actually wouldn't mind signing him. But you've got to be someone having zero world view of football or some blindly parochial oaf, if you think that he's one of the best talents in the world worth paying 25 million for.

As for who gives a shit about paying extra money, that's the most retarded logic of all time.

Who gives a shit about the hard-earned extra 30 million CL money, I suppose then? Who gives a shit about the extra 30 million per year our zillion-fucking-years-in-the-pipeline stadium will bring, I suppose as well?

Excrement (again)

Nice try at deflecting with all that mumbo jumbo, i suggest you actually watch him instead of basing opinions off of a computer game as you clearly haven't watched fuck all of him the previous post i quoted proves.

You've got a cheek accusing people of retarded logic, lol.

As i said before, all that really matters here is if hes a good player and will he be a success for us and yes he is expensive but its hard to be bothered to get my knickers in a twist over 5/6 million extra in English tax, if he comes in and does well which im sure he will then no-one will be whining like they are now about it.

'Abortion' 'Excrement' 'mumbo jumbo'. Do try making an argument. Or don't actually. I've covered all the bases I wanted to.

If you want to engage with it, read it again.

Lads, at some point, you need to stop working based off some formula that nobody really understands, stop drawing imaginary lines in the sand based on "24 = good, 25 = past it, stop just jumping on what Rosco's yelling and just watch the lad play... He looks absolutely fantastic and he'd make us better. If we can get him, we should get him. It's gonna cost us, but that's 'cos he's fucking brilliant.

This is very similar to the Spider Neil argument for Downing.

Coutinho - 21
Suso - 20
Teixeira - 21
Alberto - 21
Sterling - 19

Then we have Rossiter (17), Ibe (18), Canos (17).

If Lallana can sustain his performance level of this season for 2-3 more years, I'm fine with getting him in rather than another youngster with potential to be good in this league.

Just saying:

Player Age during move Transfer fee
Fellaini 25 yr old £27.5 million
Willian 25 yr old £30 million
Mkhitaryan 24 yr old €27.5 Million
Fernandinho 28 yr old €40 million
Toure 27 yr old £24 million
Modric 26 yr old £33 million

Negredo 27 yr old £24 million
Soldado 28 yr old £26 million

Personally more bothered about quality than age.

Also, he add to the whole 'team of captains' thing we have going on. Having some additional leadership on the field when mixed with his quality can only be beneficial.

And as usual, Binny's relying solely on the numbers, and not on a more nuanced view of the numbers.
