Adam Lallana

Lallana is a silky player, he glides across the pitch. Technically he is excellent, not typically British, and he works his arse off too. I would sign him up in an instant, £25 million is about what he will cost. Providing the owners back BR and allow him 5-6 players, then I've no issues with spunking that on him.

Can't believe you are boasting about drinking Miller 😉

@Vlads Quiff

I'd feel a lot more comfortable answering that if I knew how much we have in the transfer kitty mate.

As it stands I figure we need 4-5 quality players and that is going to cost a fortune. Over paying for any player this summer by 10mill or so will only make that task even harder.

I do agree though that this transfer window is going to be huge.

Errr, whether we want to pay it or not, he's worth an easy £20M in today's market. We can't get a Studge-like deal everytime.

Funny thing with this is , there are lots of people on here I like and usually agree with, there are far less people on here I don't like and really do talk shite, and there are quite a few people on here I like but really do talk bollocks.
Then there is @Ryan - we don't get on, and never really have, I don't know why, we try and tolerate each other, it might be an age thing or a culture bit, but that doesn't matter, I digress. Ryan and I for all our differences usually agree on the major points, and this point seems to be no different , he for all his bollix is rarely wrong.
Regards

That may be the sweetest thing anyone's ever said to me on here.

Regards.

Lallana's stats in various position he's played in this season:

Clearly seems more productive on the right.

I'm gonna win 50 quid.

No you won't. With any of our forward players it's going to be difficult to establish they're playing in a set position because there'll be interchanging a plenty. Look at Sterling this season, how many positions has he played?

I wouldn't be surprised if £20 million is what it takes to sign him. The deal would probably be structured as £15 million with add ons or something. I rate Lallana highly, and think he would hugely benefit us. The only concern I have is how much of the budget is left for the other 5 or so signings we need to make.

£20million would put him in the, great signing, bit too much, category, bit like Allen. Hopefully it won't be a burden too him.

I'd be happy enough with 20m if he was at least four years younger. But that price for someone who has only done it at the top level for one season, at his age, is way too much.

I don't know much about negotiating transfers, but was that not a bit on the high side for an opening bad?

It's market value in a world cup year. This will be seriously entertained, and will be structured over years like all deals, as opposed to immediately being laughed off.

How nice will it be if the fee is tied to bonus payments such as every top four finish = x million, every trophy won = y million for a period of time (e.g. 5 years).

We dont have time on our side if we want it done before the world cup. Definitely dont want to be doing it after. But yeah a bit high for my liking. Maybe they're taking into consideration the 25% that goes to bournemouth.

He may be worth £25 million to Southampton but doesn't mean he's worth that to us. If we have £25 million to spend, that's not where we should spend it. There are cheaper and better options about. In the meantime, we need to improve the defence.
