2 - 1 now, off a corner. Ball is played out but Ejara is slow to push out and close down, ball crossed into the box and header is looped over Fulton. Not a good start for Ejara so far this half - made a poor decision earlier as well when we were breaking out on a counter attack, electing to hold onto the ball and take on 2 guys instead of passing the ball to a free team mate breaking with pace down his right.

We haven't been in the game since the last 10 minutes of the first half unfortunately. No rhythm in our game, like we've been drained of our earlier energy. They're winning the midfield battles and dominating possession, while our play has been really loose and disjointed.

And sure enough, they go on and score off a simple pass-and-go move. Very poor work by our lads in this half. 2-2 now. Canos should've made better use of Ejara's good pass immediately off the restart in a one-on-one situation with the keeper.

Nearly 3 - 2 to Madrid; pass across goal just needed a touch. We're all over the place in this half and don't seem to have a plan at all. Subs not working as well; Ejara - a good pass aside - has been really weak in midfield, while Canos hasn't made an impact. We've been really poor as a team and the defence is cracking under pressure because the guys in front can't pass straight or keep the ball.

Fucking hell that sounds familiar

Could've had a penalty there; defender caught Canos' ankle in the box.

And we score! 3 - 2; Harry Wilson. Again, Sinclair causes a bit of problem in the box, ball is poorly cleared, and Rossiter sends a quick first time pass to Wilson to finish clinically. Wilson's been quiet this half and wasted a couple of chances in the first, but that's what good strikers do I guess - deliver when it's really needed.

And it finishes 3 - 2! Not too deserved victory based on the second half, though we did have a storming first 30 to 35 minutes of the game.

Ha! To be fair, I can't be too critical of the defenders. They're doing what they can but the ball needs to be kept better or stopped earlier further up. The fullbacks were also overworked. From what I could tell, I think we started with the 4-3-3 with Wilson and Kent either side of Sinclair in the first half and we did very well until the last 10 minutes or so when we ran out of steam.

Not sure if it was an injury or a tactical substitution to take off Kent in the second half, but we appeared to go with the 4-4-2 diamond in the second half with Wilson pushed in to partner Sinclair and Ejara coming in for Kent. That's when we lost the plot as our full backs got little cover ahead of them and Ejara kept slowing the game down when he got the ball. Like their seniors, we appear to play shit when we decide to slow the game down and go static. When Canos came in for Phillips, he was pushed out to play wide left, and we appeared to revert to the 4-3-3, though the damage to the momentum had already been done.

From Madrid's perspective, that was definitely a stupid defeat. Everyone in their box (about 4 or 5 white shirts I think) got sucked into paying attention to Sinclair when he took the ball into the box, and nobody paid heed to Rossiter or Wilson arriving late. Poor defensive play there and they'd all get a good bollocking. Sharp finish by Wilson though.

Not sure why Ojo wasn't with the squad. Neither was Chirivella.

Ojo and Chirivella are both injured.

Wilson is great but he definitely does drift out of games, he needs to start being more of a consistent influence.

Rossiter was our best player once again, he looks seriously promising now.

Our U21s lost 2-3 to Fulham. Didn't watch the game, but it seems quite a few of the lads who played in the midweek U19s victory over Real Madrid featured in this game. Rossiter (who played in that game) and Williams weren't involved though, which I'm assuming means that they might get a chance to feature again in the League Cup game following their promising performances against Boro.

Suso’s agent Jaume Serrahas denied that his client has agreed to join Milan but revealed they are ‘certainly a possibility’.

Apparently this 11 year old is joining us from Barcelonas La Masia today, I know we'll have to wait a bit, but it's nice to see young talent wanting to join us. Zak Gilsenan.

Yeah, too young for media attention as well, he should be left alone to play his game. How many new Messis is that now?
