And it finishes 3 - 2! Not too deserved victory based on the second half, though we did have a storming first 30 to 35 minutes of the game.
Fucking hell that sounds familiar
Ha! To be fair, I can't be too critical of the defenders. They're doing what they can but the ball needs to be kept better or stopped earlier further up. The fullbacks were also overworked. From what I could tell, I think we started with the 4-3-3 with Wilson and Kent either side of Sinclair in the first half and we did very well until the last 10 minutes or so when we ran out of steam.
Not sure if it was an injury or a tactical substitution to take off Kent in the second half, but we appeared to go with the 4-4-2 diamond in the second half with Wilson pushed in to partner Sinclair and Ejara coming in for Kent. That's when we lost the plot as our full backs got little cover ahead of them and Ejara kept slowing the game down when he got the ball. Like their seniors, we appear to play shit when we decide to slow the game down and go static. When Canos came in for Phillips, he was pushed out to play wide left, and we appeared to revert to the 4-3-3, though the damage to the momentum had already been done.
From Madrid's perspective, that was definitely a stupid defeat. Everyone in their box (about 4 or 5 white shirts I think) got sucked into paying attention to Sinclair when he took the ball into the box, and nobody paid heed to Rossiter or Wilson arriving late. Poor defensive play there and they'd all get a good bollocking. Sharp finish by Wilson though.
Not sure why Ojo wasn't with the squad. Neither was Chirivella.
