You need to go watch Sami Hyppia highlights. His heading was amazing. Hardly ever got beat, and the distance he’d get from his defensive headers were spectacular. Hyppia in that CL run also scored that vital goal vs Juventus. His lack of pace might be an issue but he’s too good to leave out!

VVD is better

Don't apologise Modo. I don't fucking care what you think about anything, really. Your opinion is of no value or interest.

Yeah, now and then I might take a half-hearted bite, and give you a quick kicking over some shite you come out with, but mostly it's just mild disdain, so crack on.
So why comment at all?

Is Carra in the top 10?
Van Dijk has been in the team for 6 months and he's better

He most certainly is in the top 10, yes. Noone has ever played as many European games for Liverpool as Jamie Carragher, and he is second only to Ian Callaghan for all time appearances.

You may not like him especially, and you may think other players are better than him. I don't necessarily agree, but to prefer him over Hyypia, Van Dijk or whoever is not really a 'just wow' thing. It is a sound opinion that you just don't happen to agree with.

Appearances doesn't necessarily mean that he's better, does it?
He mainly played RB, LB and CB during his career. Had a few appearances at DM too if I remember it correctly. So are we comparing him to fullbacks too?

I've seen Hansen, Lawro and Hyypia play for us and Carra is easily fourth on that list. Then there's Callaghan, Crazy horse, Thompson etc. Probably more. So I can't make a top 10.

Carra imo was a kind of sweeper defender. Points to Agger tells him to attack the striker only for Carra to come in the second wave and sweep the ball.

I would have thought it was fairly obvious though that if you have played more games than anyone else in Europe and were virtually ever-present over that tme, then that means you were probably a pretty key part of a team that consistently qualified for Europe and, therefore, were probably good? Especially at a time when we saw lots of changes, lots of players coming in and going out.

I am not arguing with you about whether you would include Hyypia or anyone else over Carragher. As I said, it's your opinion. My issue was the kind of 'just wow' reaction to the very idea of including Carragher, and given that you don't seem to be able to name that many players (one of whom was a midfielder, by the way) who even in your opinion were better than Carragher, it doesn't make an awful lot of sense.

He had nothing to do with Istanbul? Are you being serious or just trolling? You do realize Rafa - your hero - loved Carra and never tried to replace him ...?
Remember this is Modo, who claimed Man U’s FA Cup run was greater than LFC’s CL run this season.

He's got nothing to do with the European cup final weekend. Istanbul was like 32 years ago how is it relevant now?

'Istanbul was entirely irrelevant' says the man posting repeatedly in a thread about the Istanbul side

As is Carra.

Hmm... I think the gulf in class between Hyypia and Carra is massive. Hyypia has made every defender who was paired with him look awesome.

I don't think I have seen a better header of the ball than Hyypia in the Liverpool inciuding Van Dijk and Peter Crouch or that Greek giant whose name I can't even remember. Every year I would pen him down for 5 goals from set play...he was immense.

You must have been disappointed quite often, because I don't think he was quite that prolific
