£100m Reds rescue plan

I thought he was from Liverpool? I think he said he was a season ticket holder... not that he couldn't be from Reading, but it would be a pain in the arse.

He's an international man of mystery

Jetsetting around the world from one uncomfortably sexually-charged situation to another

This is the solution I've been advocating for a long time now. It's the best thing for the club right now.

However I'd be amazed if much of the £100m ended up in a transfer kitty.

It'll end up in Tom and Georges back pocket mate. The cunts. Why do this now for fuck's sake ? If EVER there was a time to really invest in the team in was in the summer after last years performance but we didn't we weakened the squad. Gillette and Hicks have no interest in this club whatsoever other than securing profit from it. Rafa will see nothing of any new investment.
[/quote]

It could end up there but I personally don't think it will.

They might be 50m better off each in the short term but they're smart enough to know that if the debt is down, and equity in the club is up there's a better chance of them being able to borrow the extra needed for a stadium. Which is worth a whole lot more to them than 50m.

I don't trust them anymore than you do, but people usually respond to incentives and the bigger incentive here is to maximise the value of the club, sell it and fuck off with about 300m each having risked none of their own money. Textbook leveraged takeover.

Rafa deserves a summer of decent spending, if only for the fact we would have some excellent players if he had the funds in the past....

Dani Alves - we ended up with pennant and kuyt because the squad was too thin to spend on one player
Aguero - wouldn't/couldn't pay the £16m for him
Ashley Young - fair enough he was over priced but he's turned into another decent player we should have paid the extra for

and how many others? Can't remember but Villa, Silva, Vidic were also interesting us

Robbie Keane was a huge fcuk up but we can't hold that against him forever, Torres and Mascherano should more than cancel that out

Show Rafa the money >🙁

The both of you should get together, promise 20, with only a tenner in assets, during a massive market bubble. Then your disagreement can boil over into open acrimony and you can cease talking.

assholes we should go militant on them, use the irish accents for bomb scares and such. Hopefully they would fcuk off

They might just think we're harmless leprechauns.

Which could actually benefit us if we took up Fark's suggestion. We could pretend we had a pot of gold.

never been to reading. no idea where that came from.

Indeed. Judging by your punctuation, you have never been to writing either. Exactly what classes have you been to?

Lol.

PS: Sunny, I hope I'm not displaying "lynch mentality" here, I just found Wilko's comment genuinely funny. Promise.

i choose not to use capitals. and yes i watched us play in the 70s and 80s, that's all the footballing education i needed.

what did you and the rest of thimbledick's army do - discover football in the 90s and have come to accept failure as success? oh i forgot as long as we're improving that's all that matters.

This is why nobody likes you, rage.

Firstly, it shouldnt matter how much football you've watched.

Secondly, I'd wager wilko has seen quite a bit more than you think.

It was certainly the most obvious way for them to raise the capital required but, as has certainly been clear for some time, the economic enviornment was utterly prohibitive. In response to Farky's question this was the reason that nothing was done 5 months ago; I'd actually be a little surprised if they can manage it just now.

As for what the money would be used for - if raised - then it wouldn't be much of an issue; if its part of a rights issue then its all dependent on the story that is presented. If the rights issue is based on a stadium only then fair enough but if it's based on a funding for the team or even a squad number then they'd be fools to try and modify that. Mis-use of shareholder funds based on the published criteria of a rights issue carries criminal prosecution.

Still not convinced by the story though; the numbers sound all wrong. A rights issue usually means significant drop on the face value of the shareholding but not to this level.
